Pann: Even males aren't exempt from providing sexual services in the industry
"We'll get fired if we don't do everything the agency asks us to." This is one of the reasons trainees receiving unfair treatment in their agencies aren't able to report on the matter.
Broadcast on the 18th, cable channel 'E-News' recently reported on the shocking reality behind entertainment agencies sexually abusing their trainees.
Trainee 'A' met with the producers of the show to confess, "When it was the birthday of someone in the company, they'd rent out a room in a pub and have the male trainees put on a strip show and the female trainees serve drinks while suffering sexual harassment."
When asked why he couldn't refuse, he revealed, "We have to do it no matter what because the agency will fire us if we don't." Although he left after two years, he revealed that many more trainees are willing to put up with it. "Reporting the matter means our names will be up in the mass media and we don't want that."
Minor trainees aren't exempt. C had to give up her dreams of becoming a celebrity due to the ridiculous requests made by her agency. "There were multiple times where I was asked to provide sexual services or money so I ended up quitting. There are so many young trainees but people will use sexual words and touch them inappropriately like it's not a big deal. Our cellphones are checked once a day along with our weights and heights once a week. Even our genitals had to be checked."
C also revealed, "I know an unni who debuted in a really unpopular girl group. She was called in by someone one day and came back with a wound on her face. She tried to commit suicide."
1. [+138, -70] I know someone in the industry and he said practically every new entertainment agency is involved in sexual services. They just bury it all, it's really common in the industry itself. That's why people are obsessed with getting into the top 3.
2. [+118, -72] I saw this broadcast as well and in order to survive in the industry, you need to provide sexual services and land a sponsor. Don't like idols too much... they may look flashy and impressive on the outside but what you see inside is dirty and extremely shocking. People also have the misconception that big companies aren't like that but a celebrity already revealed that big companies are worse. They draw up contracts between their artist and a sponsor for a set number of time and they're required to service them every night. Broadcast PDs are also lobbied for huge sums... of course, among other favors. Without a sponsor who supports you, it's hard to get anywhere. The broadcast industry wants to be treated in return for helping you get your name out there. You become a celebrity if you can take all that, otherwise you don't.
3. [+112, -11] As if training wasn't hard enough, what a shame
4. [+80, -49] Celebrities are just expensive prostitutes

Date: 2014-09-21 05:04 am (UTC)i heard about this kind of thing happening from tumblr/yt but i didnt think it was possible
the netizens make it seem like it is the trainee/idol's fault but it isnt. its the company and the employees that exploit the people. the trainees/idols are victims.

Date: 2014-09-21 05:15 am (UTC)God knows what would happen to the trainees if they dared escape and filed a police report. Isn't the SE CEO rumoured (or confirmed idk) to be a(n ex) gang member?

Date: 2014-09-21 10:17 am (UTC)and i think the ones that get it the worst are probably the ones that don't get very famous or don't debut, like that girl that commited suicide a while back, like she had supporting roles.

Date: 2014-09-22 09:28 pm (UTC)What I find more disturbing is that most of these trainees are minors and there parents/guardians are basically handing them over to be abused. Are the families in such desperate situations that they allow there children to go through this just for a shot at fame?
I wonder do the parents know what is happening to their minor children?
