It looks like Kim Hyun Joong’s assault case has been wrapped up.

Early afternoon on September 17, according to a report by Star News, a request was put in by girlfriend “A’s” lawyer to drop the charges of assault and battery being pressed against Kim Hyun Joong. “A’s” lawyer said, “From the beginning, if he [Kim Hyun Joong] apologized, ‘A’ was planning on dropping charges under no condition or receipt of settlement money.” The lawyer continued, saying that there will be no further problems, as “A” has received her apology.

Previously, on September 15, following a statement from “A” that the singer apologize and admit his wrongs, Kim Hyun Joong posted an apology on his official website, as well as apologized to his girlfriend in person.

Meanwhile, Kim Hyun Joong just recently finished his world tour, with his final tour performance in Nagoya, Japan on September 16. His final tour stop had been scheduled for September 19 in Beijing, but was canceled by local concert promoters.

I want to be disappointed, but I don't want to judge. Whatever her reasons are, I want to respect them. At the same time, I wanted some damn justice for once.

It's her personal choice. I can understand her on one level, it was a personal matter and between them but I still wish he'd taken a bigger hit.

Fu-cking. Shit. But to protect herself, as I know she doesn't want her identity to be found out, I understand.

hopefully he learned a valuable lesson from this; women aren't powerless and they will fuck his shit up if he messes with them. his name has already been dragged through the mud, so there's a small glimmer that it won't happen again unless he wants to be completely blacklisted

I want to see the netizen reactions to this one, because what. the. fuck.
Granted, if this is all she wanted, good on her, but we don't know for sure that he even apologized, and even if he did, women-beaters rarely ever stop abusing once they start. I sincerely hope that the next person that gets involved with him knows when to call it quits.
Is it bad of me to hope that this destroys his career completely? I have no love for people like him. Nice to see the 'douche' tag.

actually, it says that she didn't want any money from it...at least, that's the way I took it... ("From the beginning, if he [Kim Hyun Joong] apologized, ‘A’ was planning on dropping charges under no condition or receipt of settlement money.”)

or did she get money before this? :S

wonder if this will shut up the whiners saying that she was just in it for the money...? highly doubtful, but still.

Oh well, at least whole Korea now knows that he beats up women. Still I wish she had dragged him more. (This case kind of makes me glad that they changed the law in my country so that government can prosecute even without the consent of the victim as before almost always the victims of domestic violence decided to drop charges).

I'm sorry but I don't buy this? If that's the only thing she wanted, then "great" for her I guess? But seriously, this whole thing feels like there is something else going on, that of course wouldn't look so good if gone public...

I really don't think his image is ruined anyways. People forget way too easily.

Maybe she was afraid of how this would go if it went to the legal stage? Wouldn't her name be public record at that point? Then all of his 'fans' would be able to come after her? But I agree, for the whole act of dragging it out as much as she did, to accept a public apology seems fishy. But we'll never know unless she does a tell-all segment or something((but let's be real here; like you said, this is gonna be forgotten pretty easily)

Ah, I can understand her in some level, since it wasn't an easy position for her either. I wouldn't be surprised if she was just scared of people/fans finding out who she was and draggin her instead. Also, it can be scary to stand alone against a celeb that has his company and who knows what behind him.

I hope she got what she wanted and can move on now.
And as for, KHJ... Get him, karma.

ugh someone on tlist is judging the girl so hard, implying that she was aiming for a payout. didn't want to start shit but omg what the fuck going to court and getting a conviction isn't he only way to get justice, and if she got money out of it? he gave her broken ribs, at least practically the money would help to cover medical expenses etc.

Anyway considering the shitty sentences these cases seem to get, it feels like there's no point going to court anyway. ultimately this is on the justice system not her

Though it's sad that KHJ is going to get off lightly, at least his reputation is ruined now and A got what she wanted, a public apology and for him to admit it.

From what I understand, seems like A is NOT dropping the charges because she's getting any settlement money. A is not getting any settlement money if I read it correctly. Total respect to her for going public with this ordeal and persevering to demand the public apology that she so deserves from KHJ. Though I'm not convinced that he's really that sorry from his apology. But I believe in karma and I hope karma will bite KHJ one day.

I hope that A will find someone who will love and cherish her in the future. My best wishes to her.

All i can do is respect her decision and hope that she got some settlement money or had her medical bills taken care of but I can't help but feel like she was given barely any choice in the matter.

I feel like if she hadn't accepted his "heartfelt" (huuuuurk~) and very public apology, his fans would be out for her head on a silver platter and her blood in a crystal goblet and she'd be branded as a money grubbing, stone cold bitch.

Many celebrities pull this abusive, manipulative shit when they fuck up and most recently, Robin Thicke pulled the same manipulation tactic on his ex-wife. Luckily, it didn't work.

Either way, his name has been dragged to Hell and his true colours were shown. I hope A-Unnie can move on from this safely!

The fact that all she wanted was an apology and had to fight for it to this degree tells me how sad KHJ really is tbh.

But I'm glad he was held accountable for his actions (and hoping something fishy didn't happen behind the scenes). Praying for the next person that gets tangled up with his basic ass.
