Jaekyung Says no plans for a rainbow comeback this year + Netizens on Rainbow's career

Jaekyung has been having a lot of interviews lately discussing various things. VisualGlow did a summary of her main points throughout most of them. Here's a quick summary of the summary.

- Jaekyung, Woori, Jisook, and I believe No Eul have said that there probably won't be a come back from Rainbow this year. Next year probably though.

- They said they want to take their time producing a good album.

- Jaekyung is really enjoying her solo work lately, and it seems the other members too are exploring different fields to go into (broadcast, blogging, design, drama, variety, etc.)

- They hope to reach a lot of people, basically bringing more variety into their fandom, which has had people leaving for other rising groups. The hiatuses hurt in that regard.

- Rainbow wants to make music that is positive, uplifting, and can make people a bit happier.



Jae Kyung talks about what Ji Sook & Woo Ri have been saying these last few months on radio and in magazine about a comeback (that there is none in-sight for 2014 "plans for the year haven't been made yet we are doing solo activities for the time being" is what Woo Ri & Ji Sook have echoed in past).

The rest is pretty much about what she has been doing this year (God's Quiz 4, Get It Beauty, Turning Point, Tell Me Your Wish, etc. etc.) and some other personal things (Rainbow's history/releases, actors/idols she's worked with in dramas, traveling, fashion, her hobbies, family, etc. etc.). She wants to expand into different acting roles.

Jae Kyung says 2014 is a turning point in Rainbow's careers. They are expanding out into new areas of interest that they enjoy doing (hosting, reporting, acting, variety, blogging) and they are entirely focused on their solo activities rather then making music (Jae Kyung says she doesn't really miss being a singer at the moment because she's really enjoying her solo activities, at least that's the way I took it when she responded "I don't miss it." when asked about being a singer).

Rainbow's goal is to bring a awareness of Rainbow to new people in these different areas (hosting, reporting, acting, variety, blogging) and using their talents/interest for the future benefit of the group. She says by being in different areas you can experience the 7 different charms of Rainbow. That they can each have a charm that appeals to someone. All the girls are working hard on achieving this as a team even if they are apart and enjoying what they are doing. Basically Rainbow wants all of their individual opportunities to translate into new found interest in the group as whole.

Jae Kyung considers Rainbow's fandom small, mostly made up of men in their 20s-30s. Though, she said she isn't missing being a singer right now, Jae Kyung also noted that she wishes to return to the stage one day in the future. She apologizes for the wait. Her goal is for Rainbow to produce a new strong album and to turn their fandom around with a more wide spread targeted audience. This is again something she feels this year's solo activities focus will achieve. She wants to have more variety in the fandom as a future turning point for Rainbow. Lastly, she repeated that Rainbow's long-term goal is to remembered as a group whose music created a happy virus in people's lives. Jae Kyung is all for/about confidence and positive energy.

Working hard on making her Designer Kim persona a brand name and marketing herself under that persona was another thing she mentioned. Oh she also said she was against her brother becoming an idol himself

She was asked about a comeback and album this year to which she responded with a laugh...

"Right now is the time for Kara. I think the next turn will belong to Rainbow." (It was kinda implied that end of the year maybe possible by the article writer, so really it's no guarantee because they are most likely just assuming)

The article then spoke about how long it's been since Sunshine came out (1 year, 3 months), the fandom getting eager for a album, etc. etc. Jae Kyung spoke about being very busy with solo activities right now and she kinda stressed for patience and explained the long delay time by responding....

"Rushing to produce an album is not a good idea. Our time will come."

Jae Kyung also mentioned she wants to become a versatile all around entertainer.

She said that being in a girl group for almost 6 years has been a hard life to live, work and survive.

She calls the solo activities self healing.

Well AoA is rising up this year at least. Still folks don't know or appreciate their instrumental ability. Quite a few of the fans who left Rainbow's fandom in Korea apparently now devote their time and money to AoA, which is understandable. Miniskirt especially sounds like something Rainbow might have sung in 2010.

Miss A is...I don't really know. Their sales are okay but not near the levels they were at in 2010-2011. They seem relevant to Knets though, probably because of Suzy.

Jaekyung should just open an Etsy store or something similar. With all her crafts, she could make more money than what she probably does with Rainbow. I mean, she cooks, bakes, draws, makes handbags, body wash, candles, stuffed animals, she retools old clothes into new ones, and she's recently started doing silverwork.

About that 5 vs. 6 years stuff, is that just a thing Koreans do? Like, do they add one (like with age) or something??? Everybody does it -- tons of articles about SJ come out saying 'ten years since debut' when it obviously hasn't been. All I'm really getting from this article is that Jaekyung is pleased to not be promoting as a member of Rainbow, and the other members seem to feel the same. That, in combination with DSP not knowing how to handle them, seems like a very lethal combination.

If everyone is happy with the group being dead, then any chance of them giving it another shot is slim? Shame. Then again, if they wish to continue with the happy virus concept they're doomed to fail anyway (more A and Mach, that worked perfectly).

I got into their music earlier this year (after falling in love with Seungah's voice - she sounds like 9m's Hyuna *_*) and while I don't fancy their last album, their early stuff was soooo good.. plus their name is Rainbow and I fucking love rainbows rainbow colours are my LIFE why are Rainbow so underrated :((((

but Jaekyung seems to be really happy doing her solo stuff.. I'm constantly amazed at how talented she is. she even made a doggie hanbok for Macaron, that was so cute :3

i only loved rainbow during a, mach, and sweet dream. their debut concept was a mess imo (the album was good tho save for gg), and that's not uncommon, the problem is that they fucked it up again after fixing it. they saw cute was doing well so they went for tell me and sunshine concepts and rainbow just became irrelevant. poor management obviously, as it always is.

their solo activities look fun and they seem to be good at them, especially jaekyung who's good at everything, but if they wait too long they're basically gonna have to start from 0... it's not looking good tbh.

I agree. A and Mach was enough to catch everyone's eyes and ears. DSP's poor management and focus on Kara pretty much hurt everyone else in the agency. Plus, they were also getting popular in Japan as well, too bad.

Having followed DSP since 08. They're a terrible company. Kara got popular mostly thanks to themselves. They only ever got one era right and that was Lupin. I'm so jealous of Girls day agency. So many good songs and promotion.

Their handling of Rainbow is so bad. And they can't even be bothered anymore with the girls.

Life stuff. Other than Rainbow's activities, she posts a lot of tutorials from cooking to tech and even fixing a car once. Lots of travel pics too.
