gong-hyo-jin-accident

Three months after the vehicular accident that injured her arms and legs, "It's Okay, It's Love" actress Gong Hyo Jin will finally be receiving treatment.

On June 19, news portals reported that Gong Hyo Jin was involved in a car accident that resulted in a few stitches, as well as shoulder and leg injuries, but because her drama "It's Okay, It's Love" was still in its early stages, the actress opted out of an extensive treatment to focus on the production.

A representative from the drama said, "Gong Hyo Jin showed professionalism even when injured. She was in great pain, but she didn't show it to not make the staff and other actors worry about her condition. She worked hard throughout the production, and the team is thankful towards her for persevering until the end."

Her treatment will take place on September 11, which is also the date of the final broadcast of "It's Okay, It's Love."

In related news, the team of "It's Okay, It's Love" will be going to Thailand for a vacation, and while Gong Hyo Jin is one of the confirmed cast to go with them, it is still unknown if she will push through, especially after her treatment.

Catch the last two episodes of "It's Okay, It's Love" on SBS.

Absolutely ridiculous. I'm sick of hearing about idols / actors getting into what are actual car WRECKS and not receiving immediate treatment because of the pressure to perform or record. "Showed professionalism".. I just can't. This makes me so angry.

No offense to Hyo Jin Unnie but what she did was stupid as fuck. YOUR HEALTH COMES FIRST, AL-FUCKING-WAYS. Treatment delays can have a a longstanding effect, even if it doesn't materialize right away. The director should've insisted, her management should've insisted that she go for the treatment immediately, delay be damned. I get the business side of the matter but it's still wrong.
And I'm nhf the fawning over idols who work while injured, it's not something to be admired or imitated, it's a cause for concern. Like when I see Kai fangirls saying "oh oppa was injured, he collapsed after the stage but he still did the performance" NO THAT IS NOT OKAY, YOU SHOULD BE FUCKIGN WORRIED NOT MARTYRING HIM

Yeah, I had a minor injury at work years ago (pulled one muscle in m back, strained two others, and had back spasms). My employer paid for my hospital visit, specialist visit, and medication, but refused to cover the recommended physical therapy, so I opted out. It's really come back to bite me, unfortunately, because I'm constantly having to baby my left side, or risk aggravating the muscles in my back that never completely healed. Seeing idols/drama actors with worse injuries ignore and try to work through them is really upsetting. They're young enough right now to ignore the abuse they're putting their bodies through, but what about when they're thirty and can't walk up a hill without a knee brace? Or, in Gong Hyojin's case, what about six months from know when her shoulder aches every time she moves her arm a certain way, etc.?

I get the pressure is hard on actresses and they're seen as being replaceable but this is wrong at so many levels

i dont think this was a gender thing, the same thing would have happened if jo in sung was the one to get hurt. it's the twisted sense of professionalism they have that the show must go on or something. :/

Wait so PS or something like bone setting, removal of clots or organs??
No production or fans watching are good enough to delay 3 months after an accident for treatment. SMDH only in Korea or on TV shows like House :/

even professionalism has it's limits. if it's putting someone's health at risk it's just reckless

This is unacceptable. Health should always come first. :(

People on my timeline have been buzzing about the ending. I'm determined to continue watching it. I'm just in ep4.

It's really gross that so many companies in industries across the globe couldn't care less about their employees' health and well-being, whether it's mental or physical. The producers of It's Okay That's Love might be publicly thanking Gong Hyojin for ignoring her injuries to finish filming, but it's not inconceivable that they actually pushed her to postpone treatment. Even if Gong Hyojin said she was willing to forego immediate treatment, how much of that was because of pressure from her agency, the drama producers, and industry expectations in general? (I don't want to sound like I'm criticizing Gong Hyojin, because it's not her fault the drama industry treats actresses and actors like they're entirely expendable. It's really upsetting, though, to see a company's negligence swept under the rug by calling it professionalism on the part of an injured actor.)

omg, i didn't know she was involved in a car accident. i couldn't tell at all while watching the drama. sheesh, i wish they would stop romanticizing this shit. it's insanity, not professionalism, to get her to continue working in that state.

i hope she heals properly, both physically and psychologically.

OH my god what the hell, she was in a car accident? Looking at that picture, she was allowed to SKIP treatment, what in the fuck? Professionalism =/= Risking Future Health. NO. Not ever.

I'm only on eps 8 or 9...but is this why she suddenly tripped, fell and needed to be put in a cast?

What kind of treatment could you put off for this many months?

On the part of the crew and director, the right thing to do was to just outright refuse working with her until she found proper treatment. SMH at "gratefulness".
