Yongsoo's got one of those 'high fashion' bone structures that can photograph really well so I sort of see why they're keeping him on and hoping something will click even though he's clearly the worst performer of the lot.
But at the same time...man, it's hard getting the boy to process anything or think for himself =__=ll
Not recently, but in the far far past I've watched a bit of America's Next Top Model -- all day marathons are so addicting. I'm weak like that lol.
Never seen Korea's version, so was just curious....worth checking out? I'm finishing up two dramas, and I figured after they make me cry my eyes out I should change it up and watch some k-variety. (Also are the subs decent, and will the whole season definitely be subbed??)
Thanks for the reply back!! I figured a Korean version would be less drama-filled (which is a good thing). I think it will be interesting to watch the Korean version, so I will put it on my very long list of things to watch :)
definitely watch this, as a person who has gone through around 15 seasons of ANTM this is leaps and bounds better, focused on fashion and with interesting shoots that don't aim to plainly throw contestants under the bus
15 seasons?! Wow. I've seen bits and pieces of a few for sure, but no where near that amount. Thanks so much for the reply back :) I appreciate it. I always really liked the photo shoots and seeing the end results, but not the drama between contestants and all that ridiculousness so this sounds like something I should check out.
The shoots got worse with time. And it was evident, that they picked out bad pictures to the people they wanted to eliminate because those pictures were SO BAD while the shoot went well and photographers didn't have negative feedback. I don't want people to win because of their story arc or because judges like them, I want them to win because of their talent. And that hasn't happened all that much (ie they usually get basically no work after) so eventually I stopped watching. I stuck with it too long, tbh.
If you're into that format, then Australia has a lot of good seasons, Africa's one (and so far only) season was really interesting, because it was so different, and Asia's next top model cycle 2 (despite blatant Malaysia promo and one annoying judge) are worth a look.
I know with any competitions (modeling, singing, cooking etc) it seems like every contestant always has a sad story, and while I don't mind learning about them because it gives insight into what drives the person/makes the person who they are... it would be nice to have the first few episodes with no knowledge of that info, so like you said it's about talent first, story second (or third or not at all....).
And seriously wow, I didn't realize there were so many different versions! I mean if I had thought about it, it makes complete sense... all ideas get borrowed/recycled. That's neat.
I still can't really pick favorites since I like quite a few of the contestants. But I don't think I'm alone in being a little frustrated that the judges seem so biased for Yongsoo.

I got super distracted and excited right at the start when I saw a few split seconds of footage of the bae Jo Minho coaching the boys on runway walking. And then they didn't even let him speak on camera or show him ever again! I miss him being on tv so much. I think I'm gonna have to go watch old episodes of Style Log to get over this...
I really don't understand why they are keeping Yongsoo around. They've given him very specific criticism and detailed instruction in every single episode so far, and he has seemingly not taken in any of it. V Frustrating.
Taeun and Gibeum continue to be wonderful, and I really like the picture that Chulwoo won for, with him leaning up against the wall. He really nailed the facial expression, body angle, everything (and he had the challenge of a total lame duck of a partner to work with, unlike Taeun).
Loved the episode, the best photo was well deserved, imo. He should just stop with trying to insist he's straight, nobody cares if he delivers good photos.
and good riddance to who got eliminated, have wanted to see them go because of their attitude. their second photo was good but EUGH overall.

Yongsoo looks a bit like Changmin, that's why I'm not that angry about him staying. He really can't do anything, it's such a pity. :/ They only keep him, hoping he'll get better, cause they like his model-appeal. But I guess they'll' let go of him in the next 1-3 episodes, cause he just doesn't improve.
i'm really fond of all the three girls who got bob cuts (and they seemed to have finally figured out a way to style the frizzy hair, even if they don't know how to care for it). i hope jian improves because i love her face.
