I had no plans on watching Win and I watched 90% of it. I have even less desire to watch this, so we'll see.
Team A got comments like, "Can't you win over Team B at least once" and then bonding exercises and a party...since he used Team B to motivate them I am left to wonder how that sort of thing will work with an INTERNAL reorganization
I feel he's just going to shuffle them around until something works oooor what you said compare them to either each other or the three members already in secure positions within the group. Which I think would do more harm than good as opposed to doing this with two different groups. I don't know if I'll watch but I am curious as to how it will go.

And while charting certainly proves his popularity, still, I don't think he is the be all, end all YG makes him out to be--just yet. Empty largely does well because it's performed by Winner and I'm still not impressed by much of his stint on SMTM3. I think comparing him to people like that is more favoritism than fact because he isn't the only one with star-power potential there and never was. And I wouldn't want all those kids thinking they had to be like this one person--that's not a good group dynamic to have. And I say that from experience. I think he needs to learn to not use someone else as a motivator cause unless the other kids have the terms on which they want to make it in their minds already and can motivate themselves in some way, it's probably not gonna turn out as he expects. But! I am waxing poetic on things I don't know will happen, lmao.
I don't know...I think he uses Taehyun for that purpose too for Winner. It's not a negative thing to remind people they have to work hard. For Hanbin he'll end up like GD because YG is hardest on and expects the most from his favorites.
I know that the potential on Team B resides in multiple people. I hope it can be displayed on MAM because WIN was geared toward the audience supporting Team A so they had less focus on B outside the original 3 and group dynamics. Also they are still pretty young and have grown a lot.
Really? I've never really seen him talk about Taehyun as highly. And no, it's not but it can become negative when you are reminding someone to work harder by comparing them to someone else. You can do this effectively without a comparison that can end up making someone feel less than. That can go for both groups if this is his go-to method. I've been on both ends of that kind of mentoring and it honestly feels shitty on both ends. Respectively like you're being stepped on and stepping on others.
I'm hoping it can be shown what the other members can do, as well. I'm sure they've grown (or hope, lol) and that's why I'm thinking of tuning in even though I feel I'm not gonna be much of an iKon fan, if at all.
Rather than say speak highly bought Taehyun ALL his studio equipment as a gift...he could have just had him work in a studio that already existed. Then his song was the only one that got approved and indeed ended up on the album along with his solo and other parts. Hmm...I guess we see it as different motivation styles...you can develop in way different from the person that is the example but you'll be expected to continue to work hard and develop. Where I work we rank people from 1 to whatever for additional promotion points so you can imagine how YG's system doesn't bother me. It's part of the game of life. I'm sure people end up feeling as you've described but for me it's a motivator. I think someone like Seungri has shown growth from that method and so did Team A and Team B.

Yes, I get that and understand and think you should as opposed to getting comfortable. I'm just saying it doesn't always turn out that way unless the person has a tough skin. I feel like if I didn't push myself, I would be in a really negative place. It's not really something anyone can avoid having happen to them but you can at least not to do it to other people. But, I know everyone reacts differently and that's why before I mentioned about how I was going on about things I don't know will happen yet. I guess I see it as something more unnecessary than motivational. Though it's probably not as harsh as I'm thinking it will be, either. I'm never really mad at YG like everyone else is but I hate when he compares people, lol.

But I really don't think he was making an example out of him with that. If anything YG can be very generous--Mino got his own MV, too.

i dunno what it is about this team a and team b shit that has me running in the other direction. it just REALLY bothered me....seriously, i never watched a single episode of their show and then when winner was formed i kinda ignored them until they debuted but then i was underwhelmed so i'm back to ignoring them again. i can already feel myself doing this again with mix and match---wtf is YG doing? ugh.
I love Chance the Rapper so I stuck it out through the whole video for him but uhhh, the walks and the camaraderie was reaaaaaalllllyyyyyy put on here. It was just past being cheesy and I usually find these walking around/giving daps videos really nice. And the slow-mo. Say no to slow-mo that is more than 30 seconds long, I beg you.
I like how they all tried to be thugged out and then the ending has them doing a team break. Nothing says the thug life like a team break hand thingy...
Can I just say I find the thug life comments interesting...what is thuggish about a bunch of kids walking onto a scene together and then doing a group moment and then walking toward the camera with determination...it's a bit...it's not what I'd call thug...is this another example of it's use as a catch all descriptor people are using to be derogatory

Oh, I see what you mean now. I think it comes more from people not really knowing what a thug is outside of the phrase "Thug Life" (which is kind of a joke in a way, now)? I think people see it as any type of put on street aesthetic.
