I agree this is their best thing since Sorry Sorry, i liked Bonamana as a single, but mainly cause everybody looked HELLA HOT in that era.

KyuWook sound fucking flawless, everybody else needs to bow down to those vocals. Midnight Blues is a baby-making song and I want them to do a special duet cover on Sukira (kyuhyun just get over that one writer who doesn't think you're handsome already). But there wasn't a ton of Sungmin except in Islands :(

Uhh, tracks 2-4 are great. I liked everything decently well except for that 1D rip-off song (and I laughed at the idea of them singing that stuff now). I'm looking forward to Shirt (with that 'hipthrusts and crotch-grabbing' choreo, lol).

OH AND YES, probably best album since 3jib tbh. It's actually pretty cohesive and the songs are mostly great and it's almost everything I wanted and way more than I was expecting. And I said this elsewhere, but I was really hoping for a sexy song like Boom Boom or She Wants It ;___;

Like...I'm not complaining about KyuWook because they consistently sounded great (as usual), but Sungmin :( especially considering that he's going to be gone for two years...and he can sing a lot better than he usually gets credit for. :(

Happily drinking the koolaid, but UGH YES. Best album they've done since 3jib. I want them to do the cutesy beautiful-girls song at SuperShow, have fun with it and cute up to the audience. 'Sunny' v2.0 :)

KYUWOOK VOCALS. OH MY GOD. I know I'd get lynched for saying this, but I'm kinda glad they did an album while Yesung's in the army, solely because it lets these two shine on adlibs and such. (Hello, Wook's falsetto is a thing of beauty.)

I don't think there's a single song I don't like. That is SO RARE, especially for a full length. I'm impressed.

Thanks for saying it (the Yesung bit) when I couldn't, lol. I'm living for every little bit of KyuWook all over the entire damn thing because it's high time they do more than just hold down the chorus.

It's also getting pretty annoying to see some people acting like Yesung was the only main vocal, the only one who could sing, that Suju's songs are done for without him being there.

Does Yesung still smoke? And yeah, there's no denying that he's an asset but he's not the do-all-end-all for SJ...and tbh, they can release music without KRY as long as it's not as vocally-embellished in terms of adlibs (look at D&E or SJ-T).

It's just that in terms of SJ's usual fare, Kyuhyun and Ryeowook do basically all the heavy lifting (and Kyuhyun especially seems like the backbone of the song sometimes, like with Miina) and without them...it's not like nobody would be able to manage, but it would be a little hard, tbh.

When Wook and Kyu enlist, one right after the other... gonna be honest, I almost hope they go on hiatus again for the year they're both gone. Because a comeback with 2/3 of the main vocal line missing would be... ah, let's just say, difficult? :P

i've always preferred ryeowook/kyuhyun and even donghae more than yesung's voice tone, so these comments are good news to me!

I really like the first half of the album, but they lost me at the 1-d song and the songs after. Midnight Blues and This is Love are my faves I think. This is their best since Bonamana imo, which title track aside I really liked the rest of the album. Kyuwook killed it as expected. I wish there was more Sungmin though, he's always so shafted:/

Can someone tell me if that is Heechul that's rapping in This is Love? Also who is that at 1:54 of midnight blues? It sounds like Shindong to me but then the same voice sounds like it does the adlibs around 2:09 and I dont know if Shindong is capable of that. Its either him or Kangin.

Date: 2014-08-29 03:19 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] stoppedclock321.livejournal.com
I'm almost 99% sure that Heechul rapping in This is Love, since he did in Shirt too. When I heard him in Shirt I was so confused because it wasn't Hyukjae or Shindong, and the voice actually reminded me of AKMU's Chanhyuk for some reason. Then I realized it was Heechul, lol. But I'm not sure about 1:54 of MB.

Too Many Beautiful Girls. SM must have a whole bunch of 1D-like songs, EXO and SHINee already got some, so apparently SJ should get one too.

1:54 sounds like Shindong to me too :/
I've heard from ELF that he's capable of vocal singing when he wants to *shrugs*

*EDIT* I might have to take it back, I think it's Kangin now. Only because I just remembered there was a track in this album that only consisted of: Kyu, wook, Hae, min and Kangin. I think Midnight Blues might just be that track. From listening to it, the song does sound mostly comprised of at least kyu, wook, hae and min ... which leaves kangin.

I think it is Shindong because from their past variety show MCs by Teukie, Kyuhyun, SHindong and Eunhyuk where they invite guests that are legends or pro singers. There is an episode they have to sing ballad and the teacher compliment Shindong. She said she wants to work with Shindong because she can see the potential

I personally love Evanesce, Raining Spell for Love, and Midnight Blues. Anyone notice they gave a lot of the ad-libs to Donghae in these three songs? Especially Midnight Blues? He's got that good baby-making voice ala Monster, Club No1, First Love, Sorry Sorry Answer, I wanna Love you.

Shirt's a fun song. While I'm happy for Donghae and that SME is finally let SJ have a hand in writing/composing their own songs as promo material, I wish it had been a ballad like Still You or a smex song like I wanna love you / Beautiful.

TBH, I have to say it, because I'm most likely in the minority, but I feel that Mamacita as a lead single is weaker compared to Sorry Sorry, Bonamana, Mr. Simple/A-Cha and Sexy Free & Single. YES I actually prefer those songs over Mamacita. IDKWHY. I just do. And I also feel it's weaker than all of SJM's singles like Supergirl, Perfection, Breakdown, and Swing.

Maybe I need more time to let it grow on me and see the stages. But right now, I love those other lead SJ songs more just because they're helluva good workout music.

That being said, on a whole, I feel the rest of the album is waaaay stronger than SFS's album. And yes, I'm getting a lot of 90s BSB boyband feels from this album.

I agree re: Mamacita as a weak title song except that it's tons more bearable that Sexy Free & Single (I'm denying it's existence in the SJ discography lol)

Let's face it though, as a general rule, SJM songs > SJ songs. IDK why but the subunit always seems to get more solid material - Swing was amazing from top to bottom. Mamacita's not BAD, it's just... about a B, where we were jazzed up for an A+.

I agree re: boyband feels, and the 90s-kid in me is NOT complaining. :P

Date: 2014-08-30 05:25 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] vforvera.livejournal.com
So true about SJM songs. And yes, Mamacita is a solid B song, it's a bit too boring to be a lead single.

Same here about the 90's kid :D Some of these songs made me think fondly of my BSB fangirl days.

but for a YYJ song post Sorry Sorry...it isn't bad. it isn't great. it does have some fun...but it isn't the best as the lead. Shirt could have been a fun lead...or maybe i'm biased.

LOL I actually think I may like HaeHyuk's crackfested I Wanna Dance, Motorcycle and Skeleton more than Mamacita.

I do think Shirt could have been a fun lead, but it's too cheerful for a lead imo I like my lead songs to be loud, nosy and smexy. Mamacita does have an element of smexy admist the ridiculousness.

I think I just need more time with Mamacita. I needed a bit of time getting used to Bonamana too.

Not enough Donghae tbh. Though his part in the MV was cool. But still. I think I much prefer "Rock version" of Bonamana that they play in concerts than the original version.

Just like how I like the remix version of It's You better than the original. The original is a little too cheesy for me with the whole whispering in the beginning. blargh.

ok this album is surprisingly good. i think it's bc no dubstep (THANK GOD) and most of the songs are more rnb/ballad/pop instead of dance (and most of the times i think their dance songs are silly, so...)

Verdict: immediate like for Raining Spell, Evanesce, This Is Love, and Island. Probably will stay in iPod for a bit for Shirt, Let's Dance and uhm, Too Many Beautiful Girls. Lulz. I thought Midnight Blues didn't sound as sexy as its claims for baby-making sound, and it kinda drags on too slow?

But bless ryeowook. And kangin, wherever my ear catches him, bc I've always loved his tone. And did I mention ryeowook? He doesn't have the conventional sound that I like but bless him, he has always been an exception. Basically. Ryeowook. Yes. Ryeowook. I um don't like how donghae sounds and he's like everywhere in the songs so it kinda grates on my nerves

the only stand-out weak track for me is "too many beautiful girls," but i have a feeling i could end up liking it more with some adorable performances like i did with shinee's "boys meet u"

and this is reminding me just how much i love sj ballads <3

I like almost all of them. Not to keen on mid season but my fav would be mamacita, midnight blues and evanesce. I can clearly picture myself bobbing my head to the beat while driving without hitting the skip button. the 3jib is the only album that i listen without hitting the skip button and this one is also gonna be on the list.

Midnight blues is so sexy i was melting listening to it~~

Evanesce is also such an eargasm.. their voices are so heavenly

One of the reasons i like Super Junior is because they have variety of tones and different voices with each other. So when they sing their lines and singing as a group, it sounds so pleasing and so harmonious. That what makes me fall in love with them in the first place <3. If there is still people saying they are not talented and cannot sing then those people are just deaf or just cannot accept reality.
