Kang Ji Young Signs with Sweet Power Agency to Launch Acting Career in Japan

After leaving Kara, Kang Ji Young has decided to resume her activities in Japan as an actress.

Oricon Style reported on August 21, “After leaving Kara in April, it has been reported that Kang Ji Young will begin her acting career with the name ‘Ji Young,’ centered mostly in Japan. She signed with Sweet Power agency and her activities around Asia will also be managed by Sweet Power International.”

According to the agency, Kang Ji Young was on a study abroad program in England to learn English and acting but decided to sign a contract with the agency in August.

Oricon Style also reported, “Ji Young is currently staying in Japan in order to resume her acting career. She will be making her first public appearance through the 19th Tokyo Girls Collection (TGC) taking place on September 6 in Saitama Super Arena. She will be walking the runway as a model.”

It also added, “She will be one of the very few Korean actresses who can read the scripts and carry out an acting career without translation. She will be promoting mostly in Japan but her global activities in countries around Asia are also anticipated.”

The news on the former Kara member making her acting debut in Japan has taken over the main page of Japanese portal site Yahoo Japan, gathering keen interest from the public.

I'd like to see her modelling! I think she'd be good at that. I wonder what happened to London though, seems a bizarre thing to announce only for a few months (instead of just the usual cover of a Korean uni). Maybe she just went for a semester while she figured things out.

on that radio star episode where hara threw a bottle on kyuhyun jiyoung said she hates being asked to do aegyo. people were pissed cause apparently she does it without asking in japan and basically her seniors don't say this kind of stuff either (like shinhwa makes fools out of themselves on variety and they don't complain - this kind of thing)
oh and suposedly she was an iljin too (i think she denied it because there are no proofs pictures)
last but not least she got into good uni just because she's a celeb by special admission

hahaha maybe with "not-actually-idols-but-idol-image actresses," but for actual idols, there's always hello!project & 48family. other big agencies i can think of with a lot of idol-ish actresses are oscar (ueto aya, takei emi), amuse (fukatsu eri, ueno juri, naka risa), & stardust (takeuchi yuko, kitagawa keiko). i think sweet power is female-only or something though. don't quote me on that. i know sweet power's president is female (& is always rumored to be lesbian → the company's talents are rumored too lol)
