When a rabbit shower scene brought the main characters together, it wasn’t exactly all warm and fluffy feelings, as a group of viewers were left feeling uncomfortable while watching KBS’ Discovery of Romance.

In August 18’s broadcast of Discovery of Romance, Han Yeoreum (Jung Yoo Mi) finds a rabbit on the street and brings it to Kang Taeha (Eric)’s home. When Kang Taeha is disgusted at the rabbit picked up from the street, Han Yeoreum takes it into the bathroom to give it a shower.

Once the scene aired, viewers began to call the drama out on SNS and on its official page for animal abuse, as rabbits are animals that should not be washed with water as it could be fatal due to stress.

KBS has responded to the complaints saying the staff paid close attention to the rabbit during the filming of this scene.

“We didn’t go into filming not knowing that rabbits should not be washed with water, So we prepared meticulously for the filming. There was no problem with the rabbit after the shoot,” said KBS. “Even after the filming, we’ve checked the rabbit’s health continuously. The scene was also filmed a month ago, and the rabbit is being raised well. It is very healthy.”

KBS added, “In today’s (8/19) episode, there is a scene where Kang Taeha takes the rabbit to the animal hospital and he gets scolded by the veterinarian for bathing the rabbit with water.”

It's the same for Chinchilla, they should never ever be wet
And dogs are too be washed very carefully, cause lots of them have extremely sensitive skin

I can't literally watch series/movies with animal abuse. The only exception is GoT and I hate the scenes where animals are killed anyway.

cute bunny. upsetting that they even risked it. if they felt that scene was absolutely necessary, couldn't they have used a stuffed animal and camera angles?

this makes me rage! People think rabbits are easy to care for and shit. Like, all I see is stupid gifs of people showering their rabbits thinking it's cute. It really isn't hard to google proper rabbit care, hell the first thing that pops up is houserabbitsociety!

ifkr. People think caring for a pet rabbit its easier than caring for a dog or cat when its exactly the same, what bothers me the most is when they give rabbits to children, ugh.

Have you seen the festival that makes kids chase after rabbits? the children don't know how to carry them and just pick them up like toys! I swear someone needs to tell these people that rabbits can break their backs if not handled properly and even get heart attacks from being scared :(

You mean those bunny chase thing that some cities do on eastern? Don't even get me started on those, just thinking about it makes me anxious :( When I was living in California they made a eastern bunny chase in a park near my apartment and I got so much anxiety, I was literally holding my tears because I couldn't stand seeing the kids pulling at the rabbits and being so rough at them.

I have 8 rabbits and I get so anxious when people see them and want to touch them or handle them like they are toys. People don't really consider rabbits like they consider cats and dogs :\

I had guinea pigs and people act the same way about them. They think they're cheap/easy/low-maintenance pets compared to cats and dogs and lol no. Not to mention all the inaccurate information circulating about them. I look at some youtube vids and all those tiny pet stores cages. DDDDDDDD: I built my guinea pig cage myself and it took up half my room, lol. The joke is, it's not that hard to google links for proper guinea pig care!

I did extensive research before adopting my piggies, and I would sure do the same thing before adopting rabbits!

As a rabbit owner and rabbit lover I can't stand this type of thing. Or just in general how rabbits are disregard as pets and just care about how cute and fluffy they are.

I have 8 rabbits and every time a friend suggests to give a pet rabbit to a children I want to slap them so hard. Rabbits are great pets and quiet companions, they are really smart and listen well too. Very clean and can be litter trained, but rabbits are not pets for kids, they are too fragile :(

I get livid every time someone says hamsters or rabbits make good starter pets. There's literally no such thing as a starter pet. I hate having kids near my bunny.

ikr, people think lagomorphs and rodents are great for kids when its the total opposite, but sadly most people think of them as disposable pets. Since I have a few bunnies when I have kids over its a constant battle. And when other adults have the nerve to get upset because I don't allow kids to be noisy around them, or hold them or chase after them, I get so angry like seriously there's a reason why I don't allow it, I don't want your kid to give a heart attack to my bunnies!

And they are so underrated. I actually believe they make great pet companions for adults.

I had guinea pigs as an adult and ppl always assumed I had them for my nonexistent children. It kind of infuriates me that people continue to believe that rodents and rabbits are children's pets. They are far too fragile to be left in a child's care, unless it's the parents that are the main caretakers.

My piggies were noisy and messy, but had such vibrant little personalities and were such lovable little pets. I miss having piggies. When I'm more financially stable I will probably adopt more.

jfc i cringe at the way she holds the bunny, and it looks too young to be bathed.
i give my rabbit a bath once or twice a month and only when his health condition is good, that was recommended by the vet because he likes rolling in his piss =__="
