In the midst of his busy projects, Shinhwa’s Kim Dong Wan donated to support the grandmothers who were forced to become sex slaves during WWII.
On August 20, several entertainment affiliates stated that Kim Dong Wan donated a sum of 30 million won to the House of Sharing, the home of the remaining comfort women. The donation will be used to construct a special memorial hall for the grandmothers.
Shinhwa Company confirmed the deed, saying, “Kim Dong Wan hopes that this painful past will be remembered and not forgotten.”
Kim Dong Wan has previously donated to comfort women in the past, as well as to victims of a tragic subway disaster, children with cancer, flood victims, Sichuan earthquake victims, residents after the Yeonpyeongdo attacks, and victims of the Philippines typhoons. He also helped his old manager, who was struggling to get by.
Meanwhile, Kim Dong Wan is currently performing in a new musical and filming an indie movie.
