-looks at the empty pretzel bag to my right-

You body requires salt for cellular processes so I hope it isn't a completely salt free diet.

& I never heard of anything relating low sodium intake to appearance besides maybe bloating, it mainly keeps you blood pressure normal.

I took a break from studying for cell bio to talk about some more science crap, -sigh-

Yeah, you need the sodium for sure. On the other hand, with fries and snacks and all that, most of the people eat way more salt than needed. It's worse for the heart than the face.

I'm not sure if that dude's diet was completely salt-free, but the members of the show are following the recommended sodium intake per day, and given the amount of salt that is considered okay and have to measure their food etc to check for sodium-levels of the food they're eating(its a really good show lol, it makes you realize a lot of things) and get missions where they have to make alternative versions of foods with high sodium levels.

'handsome' does not fix 'problematic dipstick', soo....

but that aside... that's... not healthy. granted your salt levels aren't supposed to be high but still, it's not something i think you're supposed to eradicate completely from your diet?

Salt-free is obviously wrong. Low-salt on the other hand is pretty good. Gosh I feel like a health freak, last time on a similar post I went on an anti-added sugar rant, now I feel like going on an anti-salt rant.

I find it weird how little these kpop stars reference simple carbs or sugar when it comes to dieting - for most people (myself included), mass consumption of those two has a lot more impact on your ~bodyline~ than salt.

They already eliminated added sugar, they're going for the extra half-kilo that makes your face look "bloated" in the morning due to water retention now :/

Too bad, in the case of Gikwang. He's a glorified visual as it is and he looks 10 years older than he did with a little more meat on his bones. Hope he puts on some weight soon, he doesn't look well.

How? I mean, I know you minimize salt intake, like you do other things, but no salt completely? I would guess that is bad for you?

IT IS BAD for you. Everything must be taken in moderate.

He looks like shit these days so I don't really think I'd be looking to him for health advice. Not to mention he's kind of an idiot in general.

He actually looks kinda unhealthy tbh.

This makes me feel bad for him, not eating any salt is REALLY unhealthy. You need salt to survive, wars have been fought civilizations have collapsed (http://impossible2possible.com/bolivia/thickboxes/salt_history.php) over issues of who has salt and who doesn't.

Salt aids water retention, so a low-salt diet would reduce "bloating" from water and make you look thinner, I think. It's the same way lots of instant-weight-loss diet pills work. But I find the idea of it really disturbing especially for someone who has a high physical activity level because you're losing salt through sweat anyway.

someone get this man salt, he hasn't looked cute since 2010...

Well ofc, high sodium intake can easily make you look bloated since your body is holding onto more water from it.

What ? You aren't supposed to eat too much salt, but like everything, you need a little bit of it anyway. I don't salt much but everything we eat (especially already prepared) has so much salt it makes up for it lol.
He should be careful with his health. He used to look way more healthy than on this picture O.o

how do you even go on a salt-free diet?? isn't there a little bit of salt in everything? like how do you exclude it from your food? (lol idk limited food knowledge here)

sounds like a hassle and a stupid decision to me.

From: [identity profile] ajin.livejournal.com
It's possible but you'd need to make everything from scratch or eat really boring and blend food. I'd imagine if I didn't add the bit of salt to food that I did when I was on really hxc anti-candidiasis diet, I'd pretty much be on a no-salt diet. It was a huge hassle.

Why do people think that cutting something out is the way to go :/ Minimizing the amount and substituting is much smarter. If you use a bit of salt like unprocessed himalayan salt, you're actually going to get a lot of needed minerals.

This idiot is going to end up in the hospital sooner or later if he's really doing no-salt diet.
