Join us as we discuss the sci-fi film epic Snowpiercer, directed by the talented Bong-Joon ho (The Host) and starring Captain America. Learn why shooting bullets through a train window is just a bad idea, the advantages of being a junkie on a train, and whatever you do, DON'T EAT THE PROTEIN BLOCKS.

Mad at myself for not seeing this in the theatre. I don't even know if it's playing anymore

All I can say is that if you have the opportunity to see this movie, GO SEE THIS MOVIE!
I was so happy that I was able to purchase it on DirecTV Cinema, and what attracted me to it was how great of an actor Song Kang-ho is so i'm always down to checking out his movies, and along with Chris Evans, Tilda Swinton, Octavia Spencer, Go Ah-seung, and of course Ed Harris, I was not disappointed.

The plot was good, the action scenes were in good taste and the whole idea behind it (I'm not planning on revealing anything), was different, although there a similar movies out there, the directing was new, and left you in awe with some of the situations that the characters face, and what they went through being low class citizens on the train.

So, once again, if you have the chance, this is a much watch movie!

May I recommend you to read the book then. I didn't read it but if you liked the plot, I guess it comes from the author ;)

From what I've read about the source, the movie plot is almost nothing like the book (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Le_Transperceneige) except for the class disparity and the "get to the front of the train" element. Not saying one's better because I really liked the movie, just don't expect them to be the same.

Like the above comment said! If you subscribe to the podcast via itunes, you can download the episodes while you're on Wifi at home or whatever, and then you can listen to them at any time without any kind of connection! ^_^

Watched it and it was interesting but not as exciting as everyone's make it out to be. I guess I expect a lot more from a blockbuster movie.

The end reminded me of a saying that I heard some time ago from either like a movie or an anime, I don't remember, that goes something like "before creation their must be destruction". The train only prospered because the near depletion of mankind gave Wilford an opportunity to prove that his idea was not crazy as explained in the movie. Therefore I saw the complete destruction of the train as a symbol for the creation of a new society unlike one that existed on the train or before the train. Adding to this, I think that the fact that they spot a polar bear when they exit the train leaves a strong impression as well. Polar bears are known to be endangered due to global warming. The reason why people were on the train in the first place was because an attempt to prevent global warming from occurring any further. So I guess it was kind of a moment where your all like "well it worked, but what now?", basically it hones the idea that civilization is completely starting over.

Did anyone else catch the racial undertone? Watching the movie I realized that as you got closer to the front of the train, minorities began to disappear. The man who ran the train was a white man, and all his right hand people were white as well. I thought there was some significance in the idea that the only people who leave was an Asian and a black kid.

Also if I had to suggest a must watch bong joon-ho film, I think you guys should definitely check out memories of murder. It's not the happiest film, but it's a film I wouldn't hesitate to recommend. Plus it showcases another great performance by Song Kang-ho.
