Wonder Girls’ Ye Eun, who returned as soloist Ha:tfelt, revealed that she has not been talking to Park Jin Young lately.

Ha:tfelt Ye Eun guested on August 7’s broadcast of SBS Power FM’s Cultwo Show and revealed that she has stopped talking to producer Park Jin Young after having an argument.

Ye Eun said, “I prepared a lot for my first solo album. I fought Park Jin Young so many times. I did win the argument in the end but he won’t talk to me these days,” bringing out a round of laughter.

Ye Eun shared, “He told me to take out a couple of songs saying that they are too heavy but I handwrote a 11-page letter explaining to him why I wrote the songs and how I felt when I wrote them.”

Upon hearing this, DJ Cultwo commented, “That’s closer to being a thesis paper, not a letter.”

1. [+225, -23] I think there's a reason why Park Jin Young held her back

2. [+223, -27] Even if it's her own album, Park Jin Young as a producer has experience and know hows... I don't like how she proudly talks about ignoring all of that ㅋ And I think there's a reason why Park Jin Young tried to hold her back when you see her stage- she didn't consider the public's taste. ㅋ

3. [+181, -19] She's releasing the album with Park Jin Young's money, how shameless ㅋㅋㅋ I've never seen a JYP artist who talked about going against Park Jin Young's opinion do well. He's the one who turned them into products and made them sell when they would otherwise be nothing but they talk as if they got there on their own.

4. [+38, -3] If you look at her album sales and reviews by music critics, it's not only the public taste she's lost;;;

5. [+36, -2] Park Jin Young raised her and she acts like she got here on her own... A former WG member like her is only getting attention now because she's under JYP, considering her skills and visuals...;;;;;;;;

6. [+35, -1] You may be happy that you won the battle but JYP lost a lot in production expenses because of you. You should've at least included a few songs that the public would've liked so that JYP could've made some money off of digital sales but you were too selfish. If this is revenge against JYP for sending you all to America when you were standing so high up in the industry that even SNSD couldn't see how high you were up, it's working.... Fighting.

7. [+24, -1] I can see why JYP tried to hold her back. Her music video and stage are just laughable... She may think she created something very American pop-like but it's all just an awkward attempt. I thought she was singing by throwing up at first...

8. [+23, -0] I think she should've listened to JYP. She tried way too many things at once with modern dance + piano + rock.... It's hard to follow. And like JYP said, the song is too heavy...

I think part of that's because her album sounds more like what ifans are used to. It didn't blow me away tbh but it sounded new and fresh compared to what's been coming out of kpopland recently and I feel like ifans appreciate that, whereas some kfans are probably listening to it and going "wtf is this?"

i disagree with the comments. jyp probably wanted her to do a more public friendly thing, while she wanted to be more indie it seems. i'm happy that she got to do what she wanted, even though technically she's flopping. i can't stop listening to truth.

i read the k netizen comments, and i wonder if if:
1. when they talk about public tastes, it is that hive mindset of what "idol" music should be and shouldn't step out of those boundaries
2. how she stood up to not only an elder but also to someone who is technically her boss, which riles them up. just because someone has years of experience, doesn't always translate them into being right all the time. especially when taste change. i find what she did a bit refreshing.

#2 is a really important point and something that slips my mind a lot. SK takes their hierarchy seriously (i.e; people were pissed at Kemy not b/c they respect Bom but b/c you don't buck up to your seniors, period)

It's hard to follow... then take your simple ass on and download something that is easier for your nursery sounding abc formula needs.
I'm really surprised JYP was a bit off on this, his shit sometimes is heavy and it takes a minute to hear what he is/was doing.

The fact they had a laugh about it makes me think it was a bit of an exaggeration. I mean this sounds similar to many accounts of an artist/producer relationship so I didn't think it was THAT serious.

I have mad respect of JYP as a producer so if he did butt heads with her on some things I don't even believe it came from a place of "control", per se.

Won't even bother with the comments b/c these kids clearly don't know shiiiiiiiiiiiid.

I've always wondered listening to the album is this one of those things what we international fans enjoy but Korea doesn't because our tastes in music may be different.

At least that came to mind when I listened to wherever together because I don't think EDM is particularly popular there.

I mean, Omona can call the netizens crazy, but if her album is flopping over there, then aren't they right? She didn't create an album for the public. She created an album for herself, which is great in the eyes of the international fans, but it's not making her any money. In essence, that also means JYP was right. If this flops so hard that he loses money, then international fans lose too, because he won't invest in her again. (Though I'm sure i-fans will moan about JYP letting talent waste in the basement)

I was one of the few who didn't care for her title song (haven't heard the mini), though I thought the music video seemed cool. I don't hold it against her for knowing how she wanted her album to be, but I do think she could've listened to JYP a little. It's the first album, so compromising, and testing the waters would strategically make more sense to me.

is she flopping for a JYP idol or is she just flopping in general? Like, if she wasn't signed to a major label, would her sales be considered decent? People always talk about idols "flopping" but when I see the numbers I'm like, oookay.

Netizens are just hating like always and JYP needs to take a seat. She obviously put a lot of feelings and work into this album. He is acting like a sore loser (but when are men not acting like that, when they lose against women in anything?! x.x).

She's still making a decent amount of money and getting herself out there as an artist. I feel like the general public just won't bother with anyone that does their own music if it doesn't sound like generic idol stuff, I guess because she focused so heavily on the NY aspect of it it got lost on her domestic target.

They shouldn't exaggerate though, the album isn't bad lmao.

They never really like going outside the box. They either have idol songs or their meaningful songs, i.e.ballads. Most of their ballads sound the same. That's why they don't really have a sound that's uniquely Korean.

But... JYP's music and style/choreography also took a risk against public tastes. He has a sharp eye for public taste and influencing that, and I do believe she respected his production choices. And being an artist means maintaining that balance your creative pursuits and public taste, you can't always be safe otherwise we'll be (and are) bored of it.
