Date: 2014-08-19 02:33 am (UTC)the more problematic thing was his interview for kun do, like how the reporter asked him on the central theme of the movie, which was the rebellion of the masses, and he was like well i don't think that's it at all, in fact i think it's my line in the movie that's really the important part of the movie etc. there was also how the reporters were like you looked so pretty that people were asking what the director has done with his camera! and kang dong won said oh that's funny, they filmed everyone the same way, but you know how sometimes even with same lighting you can't see black people but you can see white, i think it's like that, which is doubly rude because racism + dissing ha jung woo's looks.

Date: 2014-08-19 03:39 am (UTC)I'm dismayed by how ingrained shadeism/racism is in Korean society that he could say something like that and not expect to get any backlash.
I hope the interview gets translated, because I'm really interested in reading it. :-/
