Yenny of Wonder Girls recently confessed that getting a solo album was like starting a war against J.Y. Park.

In an interview with OSEN News, Yenny admitted, "While I was writing the album I fought with J.Y. Park so much. The album was like World War III."

Yenny continued, "Even selecting the single was like war. I really liked the third track, 'Ain't Nobody,' but the fourth track, 'Bond,' is the only sexy track on the album. Obviously, J.Y. Park recommended ['Bond'] as the title track for the album. He claimed that, 'This sort of sexiness is that of a dimension that only you can show.'"

Yenny further explained, "I absolutely never thought of HA:TFELT's sexy concept as a bad thing. However, going with the sexy concept theme, I suffered through the composition of two songs.  It seemed like in my previous music I wasn't really expressing myself, so this time I pushed as far as I could."

Yenny also admitted that J.Y. Park wrote her an 11-page letter explaining why she change a few songs around and structure the album a certain way.

"It was also a war over the jacket cover," explained Yenny, who continued, "the name of the project was the last war. J.Y. Park thought it should just be 'Ye-eun' and he tried to persuade me by saying 'people will hate this name.'"

Yenny continued, "However, I was determined to use HA:TFELT as my writing/producing name, rather than Wonder Girls Yenny. I don't have any regrets about that decision."

According to Yenny, HA:TFELT is a combination of the words "hot" and "heartfelt," so a double meaning is achieved.

i love her and bless her light and her talent.

damn she looks stunning in those pictures.

also, i kinda agree with jyp, i love her producer name, but i cannot help but feel that using it as a stage name alienates and confuses some people, especially when she is already a household name with her actual name, and that it makes harder for people to try to find more about her song and download it and it could somewhat hurt the sales a bit.

in other news the netizens are in love with her:

its a summer miracle...a female idol is being loved and recognized for her talent. I bet there are so many female idols who want to compose and write their own music but so few of them are ever taken seriously. Its so sad.

I am in love with this album. I hope it's doing well commercially. I was worried about that as it sounds so different from basically anything in mainstream Korean music right now.

I don't like the name change but the album is pretty good so I guess it all worked out in spite of the arguments. The choice to make Ain't Nobody a single was the best one she could have made. It makes her stand out amongst other kpop idols and prevented her solo debut from being similar to Sunmi's.

i never knew what hatfelt meant until now I thought it was just a username she liked coz that's her id on instagram

would prefer truth or iron girl as title track. I hope she sings both live

I'd like iron girl more if someone else rapped in it. I still like the song a lot though

i hope it's a big success so she'll have the same freedom in the future. it's getting a great response from everyone so far.

and i am cackling at the 11 page letter. why is it so easy to imagine JYP doing that?

I can imagine it being a formal essay with embedded citations and everything

I can go either way on the name - it is slightly confusing but also is a declarative statement of her becoming her own person/moving into her own artistry - but do agree on her other choices. Ain't Nobody is a really dynamic song and definitely sounds completely different from her contemporaries.

From: [identity profile] iznanassi.livejournal.com
Well..people know she's Yenny regardless so changing it to Ha:tfelt isn't that confusing. It's like the whole Hyunseung/Jay Stomp thing.

Any one of the songs could've been a title track imo

ah so it's her producer name. no wonder i was so confused, thought it was just her album name at first.

bond is a good song but it was my least fave of her album just because it seemed the most kpop mainstream one which doesn't fit into this album's current concept. but now considering it within what jyp wanted it is a good title track as well. idk but aint nobody would have been the hidden underrated gem of the album that people might've never heard if it had not been named the title track so im glad it got picked because it shows her unique color~

idk what would have been commercially most successful but yenny is one of the most talented idols which has made her successfully execute the album's concept.

Bond is a good song so if that is the least impressive song on the album, it shows what a great album it is. Damn. She just blew everyone else's comebacks out of the water. No one else's summer comebacks compare to hers (well this is her solo debut but still)

haha yes these two.

Glad they came to an agreement. Sometimes JYP really does know best (being steadfast on giving Bad Girl Good Girl to miss A and not WG) and in this case I think Yeeun knew what was best for herself.

^^^^ this. though ye eun debuted years ago under the wonder girls, this is her debut as a solo artist so it makes perfect sense that she wants to go by a different name. everything about "me" is super personal from the meaning of her stage name to the song lyrics to her album title.

i hope she gets the recognition too. i'm going to buy her album soon

I'm glad she stuck to her guns and won the 'war'. I love that this album seems to be all her. I don't really see much of JYP's influence, which is truly refreshing, and a great relief.

HYP wasn't lying about the stage name though.
I'm glad she fought for her vision on this album, it's brilliantly put together

Good for her for taking risks and sticking to her guns. Bless JYPE for giving in eventually. It's really not every time that a musician takes a big risk AND have a successful product so high fives to everybody all around. I bet Taeyang probably texted her like, "HOW DID YOU DO IT???"

i think jyp doesn't know how to think like a businessman (lol) but thats good because he seems to be really sincere towards his artists

Reading about how she fought for what she wanted makes me want to listen to her album. I liked the teasers, but I wasn't sure if I'll love it since I never stuck it out with JYP groups/artists, except for 15&.

and he tried to persuade me by saying 'people will hate this name.

I am so glad she didn't listen to JYP. I think HA:TFELT is a pretty good/clever name, tbh.

i think it's clever too. besides there's been way more ridiculous stage names that have become huge so it's w/e

I see absolutely where JYP is coming from, I had no clue Ha:tfelt was Yeeun until I looked at the tags on the Omona post. That being said I also understand Yeeun's motivations and ultimately I think using her producer name will pay off for her. People will be more likely to click on her stuff without any pre-existing prejudice against her as an idol.

Her album is very solid and impressive. By far and away my favourite track is Peter Pan then Ain't Nobody. Beautiful beautiful music.

Well looks like she won most of the battles. Go Ye Eun!!! Artists should have their own judgement on things even though JYP is a good executive producer.

I agree with JYP on the name thing but other than that, I am blown away by how talented and passionate Yenny is. Her album is perfection. I love her now.
