That's good to know I don't think I've seen one of her music videos before. Well we shall wait and see, I'll keep my expectations low and then hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised.
I just realized two things after watching this. 1. I joined kpop at a time when timeless mvs were probably among the staple kpop mvs you need to watch if you're looking for introduction to kpop world. 2. Sm spent a lot of money on zhang liyin's timeless mv. When did it change to "sm with their lowbudget music videos in boxes"
I mean, SM has always had some low-budget mvs - just look at most of SJ's early stuff or ZLY's Y (which is basically just her singing in the studio).
But they did become the go-to mv in later years. I think part of it's that SM groups are lasting longer than they used to, and they've therefore got more artists to juggle and don't sink as much money into any one project - and also a spate of really popular box mvs (Gee, Genie, Sorry Sorry) that made them think they didn't need to put much into the mv part of the production.
As a Zhang Liyin stan, I am so angry at this MV. Besides the fact that she doesn't even star in her own music video but also the fact that she'll only be releasing a DIGITAL SINGLE after a 5 YEAR HIATUS.
Liyin has the strongest resilience ever. 9/10 years in SM Entertainment, and she still only has 1 album to her name. 1 album and 3 singles. Wow.
And Chocolates too, come to think of it. Strong resilience, that is. f(x), J-Min, and even CSJH fans really have nothing on us.

I always wonder, what's the deal with her contract? Considering how little she gets to release, it would seem like a smart move to just leave SM. She's been with them for ages, shouldn't her contract have ended by now? Did she opt for a renewal?
she joined SM in 2004 iirc from another korean company. i think she just has a lot of persistence. and no one knows anything about her contract besides the fact that her original contract with the first korean company (who manages Rania now) was 10 years, so her SM contract could be any years.

I was super excited when I saw the teaser because this means that her comeback is real and not something that we will see a year later...but why only a DIGITAL SINGLE?!!!! She's been gone forever the least they could do is give her an album!! This MV is a little strange... like Tao and Vic almost seem like a couple but they're supposed to be mother and son?
I think the plot will be something like Vic's husband/Tao's dad died when he was young forcing her to work at McDonald's to provide for Tao but this causes her to not take care of herself/spend time with Tao so he lashes out and gets into fights. Then bam that third dude who is supposed to be in this comes in and turns out to be great and Vic falls for him and Tao finds a dad and everyone lives happily ever after.
O wait jk this is a Zhang Li Yin MV which means everyone will probably end up sad or dead.
Oh god that car scene ughh im so sick of seeing that cliche lol tao looks cool with the fighting scenes though the rest of the storyline seems vague... something about tao being reminded of someone taking care of him (his mom)? or was it victoria's flashback? im confused haha i guess i'll just wait for the full mv.
i'm gonna guess maybe vic's family died so now she's sad and works in mcdonalds and tao is some sort of angelic presence who comes back to save her from the car and then he'll teach her about moving on and at the end she'll realise who he is and he'll dissolve into sparkles~~~
or something. it's gonna be something sad and that fits in with it being called agape I reckon...
