Girl’s Day Minah and Sojin Talk About Gaining Weight and Tanning

Girl’s Day confessed that some members underwent big changes in regards to their physical appearance for their latest hit “Darling.”

Having recently made their anticipated summer comeback with “Darling,” the girls sat down with news outlet Segye Ilbo to talk about their new look and sound.

The comeback music video featuring the members dancing around in bikinis and shorts has caught the interest of many, and when asked about their diet prior to filming the video, Minah revealed, “I gained some weight.”

As she is currently appearing on SBS’ new variety show “Eco Village,” she explained, “Building a house is so demanding that I ate five meals a day. As a result, I gained weight.”

Sojin added, “Minah really did gain some weight recently. But when she goes on a diet, it is scary. She can manage through a day with just a handful of snacks,” and expressed her admiration over Minah’s strong willpower.

In regards to other positive gains from “Eco Village,” Sojin commented, “Minah and Yura have naturally light skin, but as they have been building the house, their skin has gotten tanner. They are now similar to Hyeri. Our skin tones are becoming nicely tanned.”

Minah said, “I thought tanned skin would not look good on me, but I actually like it.”

you could tell they got a bit of a tan (for them) and gained a bit of weight (again, a bit for them lol) and i hope if minah tries to lose what she gained she does it healthily this time.. it might be too much to ask but ;;;

and i'm saddened that by now i even expect the mention of tanning to get a little colorist.. but that didn't happen here, thankfully, and they're right, they look so nice with the tans they got *~*

One meal a day diets don't really work either tbh, unless you're really overwieght. If you're idol thin, then your body will fight and refuse to lose fat and you'll only end up tired, lethargic and miserable.

I would be concerned if it was a longterm thing but I assumed her diet was a quick thing to prepare for the mv etc. Not that it's healthy to yo-yo like that but I thought it was common for entertainers to do quick diets before a revealing scene.

She and I are both fair-skinned but she's yellowish while I'm pinkish and we both easily go red as well. Idk how she does it but a regular sun bathing once a day because of commute to and fro uni is enough to keep her tan. She also makes sure that she takes a long time swimming at the beach or that when we walk outside she doesn't use an umbrella.

the diet:
after IU admitting to an eating disorder, and the number of idols who talk about diets....it makes me really wonder how many idols have dealt with or are actively dealing with/denying eating disorders.

and i get that some people are naturally fair and don't tan, so this comment doesn't apply to them. i never ever understood the whole "milky white skin" fad. they always looked so pasty and sickly. i was so sad when Donghae got super pale because his skin is naturally darker than that ghostly sickly pale he became during the pumpkin hair phase. when he got to be a bronze god again after that, my heart fluttered (and bonus was when the pumpkin hair disappeared.)

everyone looks good with a tan. My legs look so good when they are tan as opposed to really pale, which is how they get when i wear jeans a lot during the winter time.

minah looks cuter when she gains a little weight. for whatever reason i don't tan anymore. i'm native american,black and irish but i don't burn either. i havent tanned since i was 7 and i'm baffled so i have to purchase my tan in a bottle during the summer.

cool story time:
my mom makes fun of how pale i am and i used to be so self conscious about it until i got into kpop and realized being pale was ok too (but that shadism and colorism IS NOT OK OBVIOUSLY).
granted i prefer to be baked and brown but being pasty is alright since my only other option is orange T__T
