Hip-hop girl group Wassup is going to be the first K-Pop girl group to hold a solo concert in South America! The concert and a fan meet are scheduled for this upcoming September in Sao Paulo, Brazil. This will be the start of their South American concert tour.

Although several K-Pop boy groups have already held concerts in South America, this will be the first time for a K-Pop girl group to hold a solo concert in South America. Will this open up the second chapter of the K-Pop girl group boom in South America?

With the announcement of their concert plans, they have now released an English video message to greet fans for their upcoming concert! Watch the cute video as they thank their Brazilian fans for their support!

Since their debut in 2013 with the single “Wa$$up”, Wassup first started to garner attention with their twerking moves and other compelling choreographies. They are part of the Mafia Record agency and consist of seven members - Jinju, Nari, Nada, Dain, Woojoo, Sujin and Jiae. Meanwhile, they are in preparation for their comeback in Korea approaching soon.

they did a song with a brazilian pop group (champs, the ones who mimicked kpop) so maybe? possibly?

Nah, that group is not popular here. They're just known by some brazilian k-pop fans but most of us couldn't even watch their MV because it was too cringeworthy to see a "k-pop inspired" song/concept/group in Brazil. The one time they showed up in brazilian TV, the reactions were pretty bad from the general public.

perhaps they're hoping that i-fans will be so starved for anything k-pop related that even third rate girl groups can make them some money.

I'm from Brazil and I'll be surprised if 1000 people attend this concert lol. Seriously, they have brazilian fans enough to go on their videos and comment "Come to brazil!" (any famous, or not, person in the world has brazilian fans to do that). They don't have fans enough to make it worth coming all the way from SK. And I heard the tickets are pretty expensive, so I doubt that anyone besides the REAL fans will be willing to spend a lot to see them and show up in support to k-pop concerts here.
Anyways, good luck to them. I like their songs but I don't live in SP and I'm broke atm lol

My original comment was "500" lol but I changed after seeing their "Wassup Brasil" page on facebook has almost 5.000 likes so who knows.

jinju's english was a lot better than this in popo's vid
i think they took all those 'come to brazil' comments on their vids too seriously b/c they aren't anywhere near popular enough to do this

Targeting S. America is their strategy, no? Because from what I remember, they put out a (really pretty decent (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTzVZdq_rzU)) summer mini in November, and even their (excellent) Xmas single (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X02Xc2iMjxE) was kind of summery. I think it's smart of them to go after a particular market like this, though this might be too early.

And aren't they backed by Universal music? For instance their music is on VEVO and not just Youtube... the showcase might not do well but at least it'll probably be professional and not cancelled like MBLAQ's was.

If this was way cheaper, I'd go.
Hotter Than a Summer is a great song.

Yeah from all the girl groups out there, they have the best chances.

I was also wondering that, sometimes the korean media is a little deluded... having niche markets is
not a boom.

But still, from all girl groups i don't think this cheap mess of a group could achieve anything in Korea let alone anywhere else.
