Actor Kam Woosung and Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung will be starring in MBC’s new Wednesday-Thursday drama, “Springtime of My Life” as the male and female lead.
With the first broadcast in September, “Springtime of My Life” will be about a terminally ill patient who received a heart transplant and meets the donor’s husband for a unique love story melodrama.
In the drama, Kam Woosung plays Kang Dongha, a man who is raising two kids alone after losing his wife in an accident and gets to live a new life, experiencing destined love after meeting the receiver of his wife’s heart, Lee Bom.
Sooyoung plays Lee Bom, a woman that has another chance at life after receiving a heart transplant. Lee Bom, with the thoughts that she’s living out another person’s life, thinks more than anyone else that she has no choice but to live an active and fierce life. She is a woman that is in a loveline with Kang Dongha.
In particular, it is based off of cellular (or body) memory (a phenomenon where the recipient of an organ demonstrates the personality or habits of their donor), which is sure to be unique and fresh material background for the heart-warming love story.
The drama is set to air in September after “Fated to Love You”.

Date: 2014-07-17 09:55 pm (UTC)secret love affair was quite a big hit earlier this year, hitting over 5% in its finale. that's pretty huge for cable. all 3 of tvn's noona romances haven't done that badly this year either. so i don't think that no one wants to see age gap romances. i don't think there have been any big age gap romances on network tv this year so far, so i don't really know which dramas you are referring to that have outright flopped??

miss korea
trot lovers (still airing though this might get huge)
all single digits. but you're right though, thinking about it, all the noona romances have done pretty well. going over ten years though... as a viewer i don't wanna see that.

Date: 2014-07-18 12:08 pm (UTC)ia but also ratings this year have been down in general. only a few weekday shows have got ratings over 10%. i don't if we can consider single digit ratings flops anymore. the only big hit we've had has been empress ki (which also features an age gap romance), i suppose doctor stranger (ughhhhh) + three days did okay. both averaged just over 10%. but still. hardly big hits. [whoops i forgot you're all surrounded too, that averaged slightly higher i think].
i didn't like any of those shows apart from miss korea, but it wasn't bc of the age gap romances that put me off. but fair enough if you feel differently.

Date: 2014-07-17 10:29 am (UTC)i hope she nails this role, it sounds pretty demanding tbh. gam woo sung is a great actor tho, i think they will surprise everyone and have chemistry. ppl do really need to get over the age gap thing in dramas atm, it's on trend rn and doesn't seem like it will die anytime soon. as long as no character is underage i don't see what the problem is. if the actors work well together it doesn't matter to me.
u go girl for finally headlining a drama on a main network!!! that's a pretty big step up :'). i really hope it does at least decently ratings wise.

Date: 2014-07-17 12:25 pm (UTC)the funny thing is that people loved the 20 y/o gap (and the power unbalance) in secret love affair and witch romance but i guess when the woman is the older one it doesn't matter to them. i mean, people here found a 15 y/o kid (yeo jin goo) kissing with a 23 y/o woman "hot" and "it's okay because ~it's fictional~". so an underaged child kissing an adult is okay but a 20 y/o gap between two grown legal adults is bad? where is the ~fictional~ argument now?

Date: 2014-07-18 06:35 am (UTC)even though I personally find her absolutely gorgeousbut they can't question her talent because she really is the best actress in SoShi and probably one of the better idol actresses out there as well. It's okay Sooyoung, ignore them haters! They just don't know how to handle all of your perfection!
