Up All Night is my fav off this for sure and I Don't Have To Work is pretty dope too. I thought Jackson Pollock Dick had some ridic lyrics but 미쳤어 is even worse.
"She said she's a pornstar with a perfect profile" rofl dying...
All my jeolla bitches, all my kyongsan bitches... omg Beenzino kills me. But is he also saying all my gyopo bitches??
and shout outs to Paris.. ugh just that whole outro for 미쳤어 is so embarrassing lmao
edit: ohh he's prob making some puns with the accents of girls from different places lol idk. wish i knew enough korean to understand
미쳤어 (Micheosso) is how you would say it in the Seoul dialect. When he says Jeolla and Gyeongsang bitches he is saying it in their own dialects. So Jeolla speakers often use 라우/ Rau or end on the 우 or 어 sounding syllable when they end their verbs in the infomal style and in Gyeongsang they use 나 (na) instead of 니 (ni) when they are making an informal question
Then the Gyopo bitches are "Rich as fuck" (cause I guess they come from the States/abroad which =$$$$)
Lol, Jackson Pollock D*ck is one big sexual innuendo. That beat is so catchy, though. This is clearly his nightlife album because every song so far just sounds like a guy tryna have a good night.
Warning: hastily cobbled together ''review'' ahead.
'Jackson Pollock D*ck' sends me into a fit of giggles everytime, clearly no fucks were given during this track's (and lbr the entire album's) creation. it's actually kind of charming, in an ironic way.
'How Do I Look' is obv channelling that quintessential disco vibe. it so fucking groovy i just can't help but bob my head from side to side. two words: feel good. the transition between this and Mitch as Fuck makes a lot of sense. this is the precursor, the soundtrack to you entering the club, feeling like hot shit, before you proceed to wild out.
'Mitch as Fuck' is officially my new ignant anthem - yeeeeeeeeessssss zino. this that shit that makes bitches turn up in the club! certified whip banger. that don mills cat was aight i guess. he didn't really give or take anything away from the track.
loooving the atmospheric production on 'Up All Night'. this is the closest thing the ep has to a contemplative, sentimental track and i dig the occassional orchestral elements that pop up occassionally throughout the track. they, along w mayson's vocals which have a richness to them that just wraps around both the beat and the listener, not unlike a thick, warm blanket (w a t).
'I Don't Have To work" - clearly this mofo doesn't cause they ain't no bars on this beat, which is pretty dope btw.
I appreciate the ep for what it is - an ode to the nightlife like was mentioned by a prev user. his lyrical delivery on the jazzyfact project remains his best to date but its clear he's in different place (illionaire) rn and his music's a reflection of that.
I love this comment <3 I just.. I can't take him seriously anymore, so I'm just enjoying the music without using the brain, this is much better than I expected (see: 11:11 aka the shittiest album of the year)
tbh, when the ep was announced, i promptly proceeded to stomp all over whatever lofty expectations i may have had for a zino project prior to listening to 11:11. i still can't believe how consistently shitty that album was bar maybe one track. i could've given a fuck about the weezy impersonator but seeing how far the q had fallen was a hard fact to swallow. like, even zino - who i wasn't really expecting much from - was, on the whole, significantly better. and that's not saying much.
zino is bae to me, so i guess i'm willing to put up w a bit more shit from him, as shallow as that is. thank god this ep was actually a decent bop :3
*crying for The Q* *pouring one for The Q* I still listen to his Night Record and just weep because how did it get to this?
I think it's because The Q was a sudden shift and Zino is more a gradual change so it's like "Oh, OK" but also he still has hints of his former Jazzy self.
the Night Record was so. fucking. good. the bars were there, the beats were there; even the bloody features were on-point (airplane music is still <3)! that shit was the definition of g.o.a.t. to me.
I think it's because The Q was a sudden shift and Zino is more a gradual change so it's like "Oh, OK" but also he still has hints of his former Jazzy self.
I've still got mad respect for the q despite his recent floppage; no-one can downplay the influence his presence has had on the korean hip-hop scene over the years but it's about damn time someone intervened. it's clear the q's trying to re-invent himself but he can't ride a new-age trap beat to save his life. he sounds out of place and his efforts to maintain relevancy only seem to be parralleled by a depreciation in his technical skills and lyricism. dok2 may not be my cup of tea but he knows what works for him and he's carved a lane out for himself that logically reflects that fact. he and zino have the charisma required to own illionaire's current sound. furthermore, whereas the q seems to have stupidly rashly abandoned his jazz roots, zino has retained his influences, which, as we can all see, is why the Up All Night EP is still pretty dope despite some shoddy lyricism here and there.
Exactly! It's really weird with The Q (who was actually my introduction into K-Hip Hop *sob sob*) because he seems to be abandoning a lot of what made him great for a newer model that's flashy and cool but eeeeh, not as efficient. Like, Soul Company closed down and so did he in a way. I mean, lol, I'm sure it's not as dramatic as I am making it seem but just how you said Dok2 and Zino have their thing that works for them, it seems The Q still has to find that. And he did! He already had it, so it seems sometimes like a mid-life crisis. Or maybe I just don't like his change, lol.
and dw bb. you're allowed to be a little dramatic; the q's sudden musical transition was sure to give all of us some major whiplash. and i completely agree w your metaphor: like the saying goes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it /kanyeshrug and i'm all for artistic growth but this really ain't it for me so u aren't alone. i guess we're just going to have to wait for the q to ~find himself~ before he can truly begin to kill this rap shit once again
thanks for discussing this w me, i had a lot of feelings about this particualar subject and being able to get em out was kind of therapeutic <3
but im still laughing at the lyrics. i'm surprised there's so much english? 'lemme paint like jackson pollock did' (iconic) 'i wonder if its pink i wonder if its brazilian' zino pls lmao and the whole of 'crazy af' is giving me second hand embarrassment
questionable lyrics aside, all of the music is on point. so i'm happy. :D
Entire Illi is officially a mess...My hopes for Zino pulling through have been flushed after this...I like the euphemisms and all but it's embarrassing and ridic from title to the lyrics....And Zino boo, I love you but this album is a whole lot of shit I've heard with Drake Asap and Rick Ross....
I'll let you slide on that one cause her extensions were a mess on the first day.....but Zino has been ok thus far....like you said doing his own thing...putting out good music (apart from his shit that ft the other two illi boys) and it's actually always been Q and Gonzo but Q was in the army so Gonzo and Zino spent a lot of time tgdr.....and that resulted in this ratchet ass mess rubbing off on Zino....imma need him to stop letting Gonzo poison him with bad music choices and go back to the shit he used to put out....But then again I ain't surprised I've been dreading this would happen since 11:11
I'm just getting into k-hip hop so I was glad I could understand what he was saying through his lyrics without having to look for translations 0_0
Loved "How Do I Look" and "Up All Night". Someone said it before when listening it reminds them of Drake, Rick Ross and I will agree but it was done beautifully.
