TS reveals second member of their new girl group, New Sun

TS Entertainment, home to B.A.P and Secret, will be debuting a new girl group soon, and have finally revealed the second member. The first, unveiled over a month ago, was Na Hyun.

Member New Sun is the maknae, or youngest, of the group and is being dubbed the new “giant baby” after Sulli of f(x) for her tall height despite her youth. New Sun, in her second year of high school (born 1997), stands at 172 cm (5.6 ft).  She was named New Sun, real name Choi Yoon Sun, in hopes of her becoming a “new sun” in the K-pop industry. TS Entertainment describes her as having many skills, including rapping and song writing.

New Sun’s face may be familiar to some as she appeared in Secret’s “I Do I Do” and Bang & Zelo‘s “Never Give Up” music videos.

Sigh I know groups getting younger and younger. Still makes me jump when I see profiles and members are 94 and younger. In my head all idols are stuck in 2009 so they're like babies. I keep forgetting that 94's are 20 years old now.

aren't korean young people (in general) very tall nowadays? at least that's what i keep reading. and idk, my country is full of short people but only girls over 175 and guys over 185 are considered truly tall. 172 for girls and 180 for boys is like the the highest extreme of average amongst young people.

as far as i am aware, and i could easily be wrong, no, the korean youth seems to be in the average pretty short, i think that women's average height is 155/160 and 10cm is a huge difference.

Yeah like the other person said above, most Koreans aren't that tall. I'm the same height as her and while it wasn't rare to see another girl taller than I am, it's just not as common. If they are taller, most of the time, they were only a little bit taller and it was hard to tell as most of then wear heels.

The guys also were not much taller than I am. I would say most of the ones at the university I studied abroad at were under 5'10"/180 cm.

I've never been in Korea but I keep hearing stories of people living there and they say that people under 30ish are pretty tall nowadays. Not everyone, of course, but it's not uncommon seeing young women over 173 and young guys over 180. I guess I'll have a better opinion when I go there lol.
