Plot: Lee Min-Seok (Seo In-Guk) is a high school student who plays ice hockey for his school. One day, he suddenly begins works as a company director instead of his older brother. At work, he meets Jung Soo-Young (Lee Ha-Na) who is a temporary employee there.

Viewers who caught the latest episode of "High School King of Manners" witnessed a scene in which Seo In Guk was exercising so enthusiastically that he injured himself. His character falls so hard during training camp that he had to wear a sling. And that leads his secretary, played by Lee Ha Na, to think he was injured in an earthquake in Japan.

But what may have puzzled viewers is the fact that he has an ace bandage wrapped around his shoulder before he even fell.

He earned that ace bandage while filming another scene in which his character played ice hockey.

According to his agency, Jellyfish Entertainment, the actor was treated right after he injured his shoulder ligament and he returned to the set immediately after treatment. He wanted to continue shooting is scene.

"He has a shoulder guard on because he hurt his ligament, but he removes it during shoots," said a Jellyfish Entertainment representative. "He only keeps it on during breaks or when he's looking over his script."

Whether the injury he sustains working out was originally part of the script or was added after he injured himself, it is convenient as it allows him to wear a cast and rest his arm.

The naturally athletic star learned to play ice hockey especially for his "High School King of Manners" role. He took professional ice hockey lessons for two months, practicing with the Kwangwoon University hockey team and star hockey player Ahn Geun Young.

"I want to be an actor who fulfills the role assigned to me," said Seo. "If the character requires me to put on weight and look ugly, I will do the background work in order to immerse myself in that role."

Still, even with two months practice, hockey can be a rough game and simply wearing the heavy uniform can be exhausting. His character is supposed to be an ice hockey star and perhaps the best athlete on the team.

The Minsuk/Sooyoung couple is just bad, it seems like the actors don't have much chemistry together. Lee Soo Hyuk and the actress look more comfortable but it's also hello he's 18, I scream stop making her into a cradle robber Minsuk every time he kisses her.

Yes. I don't mind age gap when both characters are already out of high school and into the adult world but this one is just uncomfortable. If he acted more mature it might not be so bad but he doesn't, he's pretty much a child.

Yes, I'm team Jinwoo/Sooyoung too. Even though he's been mean to her he's starting to unravel, I like the way the drama is slowly working towards it and his relapses in trying to maintain the cold cruel image.

soo young and min suk would be better as friends/partners in crime. he is too damn young for her! and while i'm happy she finally got the chance the stand up to director yoo i'm pissed as all hell they had pressured in to falling right in to min suk's arms. can the girl get a break? can she develop some traits AWAY from her relationship with those two guys?!

bless the director yoo fanservice. i was like IT'S ABOUT TIME! he's still a raging douche, tho. i'm glad they're at least showing that he feels sincere regret for his behavior.

hopefully his mother won't have to reach rock bottom and/or pass away before he realizes he needs to develop some empathy, ugh.

i really like their partners in crime, platonic relationship, it just figures they try to force some nonexistent romantic chemistry onto them because it's the kdrama way. i'm also pissed off that she fell into his arms, it makes her character rely too heavily on both of these guys for any substantial development.

Soo Hyuk in episode 7, honestly he was just straight up 'I'm using you" which pissed me off, because it seemed like he was learning that Sooyoung was quirky cute. But nope you ruined it.

I was surprised at how fast Minsuk/Sooyoung became a couple but yeah I wonder what she's going to do when she finds out he's 18. I don't mind the couple but idek how it'll work long run.

- i was not happy with the way minhyuk/sooyoung happened. i knew it was coming but man. "why are you crying like an idiot?" "stop crying over the wrong guy and come to me" wtf? i'm just worried for sooyoung when the reveal happens.
- i love sooyoung regardless. i like that her character is the biggest dork of all time and she stands her ground, and goes after what she wants. not a MPDG or a tragic park shin hye type
- jinwoo is prob my favorite one to watch. he's obviously got a heart + dealing with father issues + so competitive + then he played sooyoung which was also bs. he's fun
- all three leads are fun to watch tho so i'll keep going

so disappointed in jinwoo, even I was beginning to fall for him and then bam! it was a play all along. I'm glad sooyoung was able to hold her ground so well

(i absolutely love sooyoung's character, it's so different, she's such a lovable dork throughout everything)

i was expecting a noona romance, but then I wasn't, so I don't really know which direction this will go ( romantic-wise, cause at the beginning we see that that minsuk/sooyoung are still on good terms) once the reveal happens.

however, every week I'm loving this drama more and more

I don't get how she went from crying over model oppa to kissing Minseok/ saying okay?? It took her very little time to decide that she had feelings for him. I like that she went back and gave Jinwoo a piece of her mind. He deserved it, that mean killer abs oppa.

The age difference doesn't bother me as much as Minseok going into the relationship as if he's actually a 28-year-old director of Comfo. Sooyoung looked ok with the cover up in the first episode but it's definitely gonna be messy when she finds out. :/

Here for Seo Inguk's everything (especially his funny facial expressions), Sooyoung sticking up for herself and mean killer abs deep voice model oppa.

Guys, should I watch this drama? I haven't seen anything since like "Reply 1997" & "Scent of a woman" - so basically since 2012 :B Yesterday I tried to watch first ep. of "Hotel King", but it was so bad imo. I miss "What Happened in Bali" & "My Girl" times. Jo In Sung was everything :B

You should check out "Marriage, not Dating", it's about a pretend couple/pretend marriage and a hilarious romcom with heart (judging by the first 2 episodes).

I also want to rec you one of my favourite 2013 dramas, I hear your voice.


It's about a guy who can hear other people's thoughts a female lawyer, who doesn't care about her cases and a murderer. A lot of squealing moments, a three-dimensional villain who adds a lot of suspense, puppy dog eyes, feisty female lead. One of my favourite Noona-dramas :D Has some courtroom scenes, which are too long for my liking, but the chemistry between the main leads make up for that.



And gaaaah you watched Reply 1997! How did you like it?
I wanted to check out Hotel King because I've seen so many caps with Dongwook and Daehee looking pretty and angsty >.<

I checked "Marriage, not Dating". Sounds promising but I've mixed feeling. Jinwoo is not my fav. person on earth, so I might not be able to fully enjoy this drama. I have to re-think it :P
But omg "I hear your voice" is sooo my style. I love elements of fantasy in dramas (like in Gumiho with Lee Seung Gi, have you seen it?). I will totally watch it today! Thank you! :D (why I'm so excited??:D)

I was literally crazy about Reply 1997!! That's why I decided to drop in here, Seo In-Guk sometimes looks like the biggest dumbo ever and I love it. And Eunji was everything. Only Taewoong bothered me :P especially during the end, creating Taewoong-Eunji couple felt so unnecessary.. So I guess you've seen it too? :D
First episode of "Hotel King" is kinda :/ Maybe later it's getting better, I dunno :( I bet I'll end up watching it, cause Dongwook's face is just... :3 Yup...

Yes! Me too! Master's Sun also has elements of fantasy in it...the female lead can see ghosts :D And of course I've seen Gumiho, such a cute drama too. Shin Minah is gorgeous and the two were so cute in it T_T

Yap, Reply 97 is awesome, loved the goat noise everytime there was an awkward moment xD And it was so nice to see side characters getting their own story and being flashed out instead only characterized in relation to the main leads.

Kudos to the writers for portraying such a great Hoya/ In Guk - relationship.



Also Eunji and Seo In Guk had such great chemistry!! And the kiss over the kitchen sink was SO hot (actually all their kisses were pretty great).



I'm a fan of Seo In Guk too, he has so much charm as an actor. First I didn't think he was that good-looking and tbh there are angles which do wonders on him, but after watching him on dramas and in mvs....he is hot!



And he has a fun personality in real life as well :B



Haha, yeah, I thought it was pretty clear that she didn't feel the same way about Taewoong, so I thought the whole "who is the father? Who is the husband"-thing they did pretty unnecessary. But I loved who he ended up with xD was so amused when it turned out she was a dbsk fan xD

Anyways, Reply '97 remains as one of my favovurites.




Gaaaah, actually I can't stomach most melodramas because they are too much for me, so maybe I will just watch fanvids on youtube of Hotel King. There are some people on yt who manage to make dramas look better than they actually are xD
But Dongwook's face really makes a rather compelling argument.

I was so disappointed with these two eps. Like I watched the first 6 this past weekend and they were so good. But I hate the love storyline because they're such a bad match. Also I don't like soo young. Although she's a lot more expressive these two eps, her character is just so boring to me

i'm mad as hell at soo young's character development. mostly because it's moving at a snail's pace. i was really rooting for her and jin woo! i thought maybe he had a change of heart once he saw how much he enjoyed being around her but nooooooooooooooooo! and she bought him a cake omg! the fanservice distracted me for a bit, negl, but i love how soo young came back to his door and told him about himself.

would've been a WONDERFUL character defining moment if it wasnt for the fact that she then turns around and ends up with min suk! wtf! nooooooooooooo! no no no no noooooooooo!!! in general soo young as a character is so tired. i'm annoyed with her more often than not (i think lee ha na's acting has something to do with it) so these recently developments have turned me off towards her. and the way they have min suk behaving towards her as well...VERY PUSHY.

minsuk is the best when he's being youthful and spirited----the love triangle feels forced, tbh. he's a high school brat and it shows---what about that should be appealing to a 20 year old woman?! just reveal the secret, make soo young and min suk friends, repair jin woo's image and put him with soo young and call it a day.

because stalker girl has been sincerely toned down since the first couple of episodes and she's actually growing on me and i'm gonna be crushed when she finds out (AND SHE WILL FIND OUT) that her "hubby" has feelings for her unnie.

episode 7 was DEFINITELY better than episode 8 but overall i am VERY disappointed with these couple of episodes.

I'm not as enthusiastic about the drama as I was in the beginning. Seo In Guk remains the best thing about all this.
I was prepared for the minseok/sooyoung romance bcause it is dramaland and how can it end up any other way. They will probably argue and split when she finds out his real age and get back together towards the end when he has graduated hs and grown up a little bit.
Otherwise Sooyoung/lee hana is still very annoying. It's not her character but the way she holds herself, idk how to say it, but I hope she will at least stop slouching as the story progresses

i cant get behind the OTP they're pushing for. I dont want a minsuk/sooyoung end game even if it's been obvious from the get go. I was in denial. Hoping thye would get some sense and have jinwoo/sooyoung together while minsuk/yua ended together. If it changes course in the next episodes, i'd be glad to pick it up again but with how things are going, im juts going to have to pass. And i tried hard to like this drama's recent episodes bec i loved the first couple of episodes. But i just dont have the will in me and end up fast forwarding through the entire episodes. Which is a shame bec SEO INGUK is awesome and SOOHYUK is sooo hot and i wanna watch them be awesome and hot.

If FTLY and MarriageNot Dating didnt happen last week, i would have probably continued watching this showq despite not liking the OTP. But since those two dramas are entertaining me so much (esp marriage not dating - seen both eps thrice already) i dont feel the need to continue watching this.

lol wooooooooooah at all these responses. I still think the show is great. In Guk is so fantastic and his character and I'm loving the potential bromance I see between him and soo hyuk.

I'm indifferent about the romance. I think his adoration for her is adorable, but the fact that she has no idea she just made out with an 18 year old doesn't sit well with me. However, I think they're really cute, and judging by the fact that this happened so early I see one of two things happening:

1)SY will eventually/gently put him down when she finds out about everything, and the two remain friends/partners in crime (judging by the fact that she knows down the line). I think he'll be heartbroken puppy etc, but I almost see the writers setting up for him to realize that he had been mistreating the little sister and a potential for them.

SY then gets with Jin Woo, BUT only after that jerk atones and becomes a better person. Yes it's Soo Hyuk and he is gorgeous and his character is very vulnerable but that doesn't mean he isn't also a complete ass/douchebag. He doesn't get any of my sympathy until he sort himself out.

2) SY and MS do end up together/stay together, but I see her breaking it off when she finds out and then in some sort of flash forward down the line they're together again. I just can't help thinking how awkward it would be if the brother comes back with MS's face.
