MBC's Sunday program 'Real Men' is going to be interesting with the addition of a spin-off program featuring female celebrities as soldiers.

On July 9, 'Real Men' PD Kim Min Jong discloses to StarNews, "We are preparing a spin-off program for 'Real Men' featuring female soldiers. The casting is ongoing."

"Real Men- Female special is ongoing and currently recruiting female celebrities including singers, gagwoman, actress, model and more to join the filming this coming August."

According to the PD, the female special will also consist of 6-8 celebrities who are going to undergo military training and duties. The broadcast of this special episode will be in September.

1. [+3,778, -107] Send Ahn Young Mi. Seriously.

2. [+3,420, -101] Specials like this remind me of Jun Hye Bin for some reason

3. [+3,009, -384] I highly recommend Nana ㅋㅋ They should take disrespectful female celebrities and go fix their mindsets up in the army

4. [+2,184, -93] Women cut practice because it's too hard, show up late because they were doing make up, try to cut back on training time... There needs to be a revamp aside from the 707 female soldiers.

5. [+592, -34] I'm not feeling this special... They're obviously going to whine and cry and cry and talk about how hard it is for them~ then they'll act all weak and the female viewers will call them out on being fake and hate on them. If they're going to go through with this special, pick someone like Jun Hye Bin who has good stamina and always tries her hardest.

6. [+420, -37] Don't use an idol. I warned you.

7. [+357, -24] Looking forward to them going through CBR training and having their snot drip to the floor ㅋㅋ

8. [+314, -25] Why do I feel like Clara's going to be in this...

9. [+281, -10] I recommend Jun Hye Bin. You all know why, right? She's not fake and works hard.

10. [+270, -43] Don't make a women's version. The army is not a joke.

These comments sound like something that I would have heard from a 1950s movie or something.

People who lack discipline do this. Not cause women need makeup and all that. Pssssh

So, men can say army is hard for them but women can't? Military training is hard on anyone.

Don't make a women's version. The army is not a joke.
I'm from a military family and I've heard lines like this all the time. Having women in the big, bad masculine world of the army trivializes or makes a joke out of it apparently. There was a guy who had the gall to say women didn't deserve it because they had modified exercise segments for the entry test.
But this same idiot ended up dislocating his shoulder when we went shooting because he held the rifle wrong and the kickback busted his arm soooo.

Not her for the netizen comments. I'm hyped for this, hopefully it gets subbed. Lee Si Young, Uee, and that Gayeon girl better be in this.

It sucks that they're probably going cast a really athletic and physical superior female cast only for her to still be seen as less than the males. Like there's no way there going to have some fat white lady running around or a stupid yet endearing young idol.
(forver bitter that women have to put in so much just to be equal)

what's worse is you know they're going to compare the women amongst themselves... so if they do cast women of varying athleticism then you know there's going to be a lot of "oh look she couldn't do xyz but the other one can! How lazy!" etc etc.

lol, this. Women are always to be compared, divided, and belittle.
I just wan them to cast someone like Soyu, so that she can lift 50 kg in the physical examination and a caption on the screen can say "NEW RECORD FOR REAL MEN! :o"

"whine and cry"??? those netizens didn't watch Invicible Youth. female idoles were always stronger in that tv show and male guests were the ones complaining.

Of course the comments are pathetic and tacky. The experience of the US working with the ROK and their...inconsistencies makes clear all those commentors don't really know their military outside their conscription time or "Real Men." They also already sent a team from WGM.

Gayeon of course.

it's really funny how some men who look down on women for not being required to do military training, and like how much the women have it better, yet they'll probably be the first ones to whine if women are required and demand equality in other rights in exchange. like college boys whine about how they waste two years in the army while the girls get to build their resume or something in the meantime but they won't admit that in the long run being a male over female is the best thing to have on your resume. :/

i've also heard about how it was actually the veterans and soldiers who opposed the most when women signed up for japanese army in wwii. they whine about men's burden and all that bs but they still don't like the idea of not being the protectors of the weak ones or something. what a bunch of hypocrites.

the funniest/saddest thing to me is when MRA types bring up the WOW ITS NOT FAIR THAT MEN HAVE TO FIGHT ALL THE WARS when historically a) men start basically all the wars, b) male soldiers regularly victimise civilian women in said wars

i refuse to believe mra is a thing lulz (i mean i understand it is but like i don't want to acknowledge their existence :P) like how whiny can you get about your privileged ass and complain about not having yourself as the center of attention for two seconds D:

It'd be interesting seeing female celebs on the show tbh and I second wanting someone like UEE on it (the female boxer who guested on ep of running man would be awesome) -- but it's really weird how all the criticisms are related to them being weak and whiny and unfit to do anything, but literally the same goes on with dudes. And that crack about them skipping practices etc, I've yet to read predebut stories about a female idol running away from their company but I know of several male idols who have. Hmmmmm

I think Korean Netizens should hie themselves off to the Korean equiv of Netflix or Hulu or whatever and download a lovely doco about Sandhurst Military Academy that was made last year and watch the female soldiers in that, no special dispensations, doing exactly what the male soldiers do, and then tell me that women are not 'tough' enough to be in the Army.
