f(x)’s Krystal Confesses She Always Hid When She was a Trainee



f(x)’s Krystal reminisced over her trainee period.

During July 8’s broadcast of On Style’s Jessica & Krystal, f(x)’s Krystal, Luna and Victoria spent time looking back upon the time they were trainees.

Luna said, “When I look at Sulli and Krystal, I feel like they’ve grown up so much. I didn’t feel that last year but I’m feeling it a lot this year,” and Victoria said, “Krystal would always have her hair down and say ‘Hello,’ and just passed by. Sulli was also very small when I first entered the company.”

Krystal then said, “Luna was always practicing. Victoria was very pretty and I would always go out playing. We filmed our individual skills every Sunday but I would always hide in the bathroom because I didn’t want to do it. I was so afraid of doing something in front of people.”

Victoria then shared, “I can’t forget my first impression of Krystal. She was shaking so much when she was singing that she didn’t know what to do. She was quiet but she changed a lot when she sang so I was surprised.”

f(x)’s Victoria shared her honest thoughts on marriage on broadcast.

July 8’s broadcast of On Style’s Jessica & Krystal featured f(x)’s Krystal, Victoria and Luna enjoying a steak dinner together after performing on their comeback stage.

While enjoying their dinner, the f(x) members naturally began talking about the time they made their debut.

Krystal said to Victoria, “You’re getting old now. When you first entered (the company), you really were at your blossoming age. Am I going to be at your age soon?” as she expressed her surprise at how quickly time passes.

Krystal said, “You have to get married now,” and Victoria answered, “I don’t think I can get married. I have a really picky personality. I’m not a perfectionist but if I don’t like something then I have to say it.”

Krystal agreed by saying, “You have to marry someone who is willing to listen to everything you say,” and Vitoria commented, “I don’t think there’s anyone like that out there.”

Victoria continued to share, “All my close school friends are married now. One even had a baby. I’m envious, to be honest. One thing I don’t like about my career is that I don’t know how ordinary people my age live their lives.”

She confessed, “I started wondering since last year, ‘If I hadn’t become a celebrity, what would I be doing at this age, at this moment? What is normal for a 27 or 28 year olds to be doing, thinking or living their lives?’”

Victoria also expressed her loneliness of living abroad by saying, “You guys have family here but I don’t even have my school friends or friends my age. All the people I know are other celebrities.”

Krystal said, “You don’t even know that many celebrities. We always tell you, ‘Call us when you want to hang out’ (but you don’t even do that). I think you’re used to being alone since you’ve been living alone in Korea from a young age.”

Victoria agreed, “I think it’s become a habit. I could always text you guys, ‘Are you free now?’ but habitually, I never think about contacting anyone.”

Luna also expressed her sympathy saying, “I think you’ve naturally become like that since you began your career at a young age.”

Victoria's seggment made me really sad. Just goes to show that even when you achieve as much as she has, with all the success etc, there's always something you give up. Sometimes I wonder about really young idols,like Zelo who've practically missed out on a childhood because of it.

This may just be because she's introverted? I'm introverted, and though I miss my friends and I could contact them, sometimes it's easier to just find something to do by myself.

But if it's because she's been living alone in Korea for a long time, that's sad. Being an idol has more cons for me, not being able to see your family/close friends, working long hours, constantly trying to please people...

ㅠ.ㅠ OMG I can relate so much. I always wonder what my life would be like if I didn't enter medical school. Like, I see my high school friends traveling the world, having jobs, and getting engaged/married/having babies all over Facebook posts yet I'm studying or sleeping or seeing patients in the hospital. It feels strange to be grownup yet you're not going through the grownup things your friends are experiencing. ㅠ.ㅠ

well i think that first ep of the show actually did a good job at explaining krystal's personality when jessica talked about her as a child and commented on how people perceive their personalities. krystal seemed to be quite intoverted and i think it stayed this way. she is very fun and cute when she is surrounded by people she knows well but as for other situations... i guess that's where all these "bitchy", "arrogant", "snob" comments come from even tho everyone who worked with her says that she is the opposite of that. it was quite sweet of heir's pd to single her out and talk about her attitude on set.
i never really paid attention to victoria but this part of episode was very interesting and helped me to see her a little bit differently. there isn't anything new in what she said but... i guess i never really thought about that before.
i wish fx got this kind of show. i really like their group's dynamics. and this kind of format would work well for them imo,

I'm not that surprised because omona has a blatant (and unexplainable) boner for her. She's not only a mediocre/borderline bad performer, but also has such a shitty personality. I mean, calling her bandmate who's only SEVEN years older than her old and saying that she should get married because she's not in her ~blossoming days~ anymore is pretty gross. And it's not the first time she's said questionable stuff tbh.
And I don't buy the whole "she's shy" excuse. Being shy AND rude is not mutually exclusive.

MTE. People here treat Krystal and Sulli like 14 y/o girls and excuse 90% of their lack of sense and bad performances in a lot of situations. They're freaking 20 y/o in korean age already, who are supposed to work hard in their jobs and be less superficial in what they say and do. Were I Luna or Vic I wouldn't be that patient and sweet, really.

They're actually 21 in Korean age because they're 94ers. Sulli is already 20 and Krystal turns 20 in only three months. I feel like most of people here are stuck in 2009 when they were 15 because they keep using the "too young" excuse to justify them over and over again when no, lots of idols are their age or younger and they get called out when they do/say stupid shit or have bad performances.

blame it on korea's culture disregarding a woman's ability to stand on her own. they're still on the mindset that women are weak and frail and must be protected by men or something (i got this from working at a hagwon--on the topic of marriage, they tell me to get married soon because i'm getting "old" (i say i'm 27/28). i wouldn't be surprise if she hears people say this about age & marriage tbh.

i saw a recent article about more and more people in korea (both men and women) delaying marriage and/or staying single, and you can see that in many idols/actors who are indeed marrying in their 30s or even later (lee hyori, lots of actors/actresses, etc) so she shouldn't be that surprised about a woman who's still in her 20s not getting married. in fact, i haven't really seen other female idols calling their older bandmates old. for example girl's day's sojin is 28 and i don't see her 3 younger bandmates calling her old at all.

my point is that she's always excused when it's not the first time she's said stupid shit (colorist comments, making shady comments about other people's age, etc..) and yes, it's true that society (in general) still has this "settling down before 30" mentality but the same society also still sees homosexuality as something "sick" or "taboo" and many idols get called out when they say the typical "no homo" stuff. you could say: "blame the society they've grown up in or their religious beliefs" (like people say about siwon) but that doesn't excuse a person from being rude and shitty. you can get a pass when you're still a little kid or a young teenager, but an adult is expected to have their own personality, educate themselves and not let themselves being brainwashed by the society. like i said, other idols her age or younger don't call their bandmates old or say they've passed their prime, so it's just krystal being rude.

Tbh I think no matter what kind of life you live you go through those kinds of thoughts. Seeing other people who are living differently, whether it's a large or small number, can make you question your choices and how you spend your time. But it's important to see the value and good in whatever your life is since there's probably someone else looking at you and wondering about what it would be like to live your life too.

And as someone who has lived alone for a long time I can definitely concur that you do get rather used to being on your own and it becomes what's comfortable. I still like time with others but I do love my alone time :)

Victoria's comments make me kind of sad to read. She's such a bright and vibrant person but I do think it's difficult to have such an age difference with the rest of her groupmates. That coupled with being in a foreign country without her family/older friends seems incredibly isolating. Having to be strong independently for so long probably got her in the habit of relying and supporting herself even if she could have developed a strong external support system. I'll be your friend Vic!! Lol.
