New Law Passed Protects Child Actors Kim Sae Ron, Kim Yoo Jung

The Culture and Arts Industry Development Law carried last year, December 31, at the National Assembly plenary session will be effective starting July 29, 2014.
With the new law that is passed, child actors Kim Sae Ron, Kim Yoo Jung, and others will be given consideration and will experience an improvement in their working environment.
According to the law, child actors under the age of 15 can only render 35 hours of work in a week and should observe proper working hours which prohibits them from taking on projects from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. in the morning the following day.
Young actors aged 15 and above will be allowed to work not exceeding 40 hours in one week and likewise, should observe proper working hours as well. This means they, too, will not be allowed to work from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following day. However, if the actor has parental consent, he may extend his work hours for a couple of hours.
Shocked that this wasn't passed sooner.

Kim Yoo Jung Confesses She Had a Boyfriend of More Than 300 Days in the Past

Child actress Kim Yoo Jung appeared as a guest on the June 25 broadcast of MBC’s talk show “Radio Star,” and shared honestly about dating.
The young actress has gained much popularity through her acting in various productions, including the MBC drama “The Moon That Embraces the Sun” and the movie “Elegant Lies.”
During the talk show broadcast, the MCs asked Kim Yoo Jung if it was true that she previously had a boyfriend that she dated for more than 100 days. To this question, she confessed, “We actually dated for about 300 days,” surprising everyone with the long duration of her relationship.
The actress continued with her thoughts on dating, “What I got out of the relationship is the realization that it’s hard to control my emotions at this age and that I’m still too young to be dating. I think it’s better for me to take care of myself now and date when I’m older.”
This episode of “Radio Star” also featured other child stars, including Kim Gu Ra’s son, Kim Dong Hyun, as well as Noh Tae Yub, and Kwak Dong Yeon.
'Reset' Teaser and Synopsis

'Reset' is a melodramatic noir thriller, drawing the story of the heated battle between a prosecutor and an unknown antagonist.
In the film, Chun Jung Myung will play Cha Woo Jin, a prosecutor who lost his first love as a result of a crime 15 years ago, and now focuses solely on serious criminal cases in the hopes of finding a lead for the old case. In the role of Jo Eun Bi, a high school student who gets caught up in the case, is actress Kim So Hyun, who was a child actress in the dramas “Moon That Embraces the Sun” and “I Can Hear Your Voice.”
This will be Chun Jung Myung’s first comeback to the small screen in three years. He said, “After just seeing the synopsis, I fell in love with the character of Cha Woo Jin, and immediately agreed to do the drama. With the opportunity to work in a great drama, I’m really looking forward to acting again.”
The drama will air after the end of “God’s Quiz 4” on August 10.
(OP note: Reset will be a 10-episode drama. Kim So Hyun will play two roles, Chun Jung Myung's first love who died and a high school student.)

I'm glad that they are slowly growing out of their "childhood-flashback"-roles and start headlining dramas. All three are so talented, I'm excited for their future.
Omona, will you check out 'Regret' and 'High School: Love on' while munching on Chocopies?

Date: 2014-07-08 07:06 am (UTC)I wonder how effective the new law will be, if the parent consents will the actors go back to the past schedules?
I have two thoughts when I see child actors- One I'm amazed and impressed with their ability and range of emotion(especially in serious roles)and I think they'll do greater things as they grow up. (Is this 2 thoughts? no a sub thought lol)
2. I feel bad for them. I know they're working and earning money and future connections in the entertainment world but I feel sad. Are they going to school? If their role is as important as that of an adult, are they getting any rest? At least one or two actors are on an IV it seems after a particularly long series. How does that work in S.Korea?
I think a balance is good- acting and normal life. They have (possibly)all of their adult life to work themselves crazy. Childhood is once.
That said I will be giving the upcoming projects a look.
Child actors, Fighting!

Date: 2014-07-08 04:09 pm (UTC)I've just read an article which stated that minors themselves beside their parents, can consent to longer working hours too, so I am also skeptical how effective this law will be.
I am having the same thoughts as you, even though they are doing what they supposedly love, leading this kind of hectic life must be difficult for them. I just hope that they all have a good support system and friends, who can make them feel "normal".

I'm really looking forward to Kim So Hyun's new drama.
Why is Kim Sae Ron giving me so much leg envy at the press conference?

Date: 2014-07-08 03:17 pm (UTC)Kim Sae Ron's name reminded me of Saoirse Ronan and it's weirder coz' she even looks like her. Is it weird for Woohyun to be acting with a millenium baby?

Date: 2014-07-08 05:30 pm (UTC)If the plot for High School wasn't giving me so much AFF realness I'd be excited for it, but right now the plot and character descriptions aren't giving me much hope. :< Saeron is a cutie tho. She's got the biggest, most obvious crush on Sungyeol too and it's hilariously adorable.
