Your weekly dose of murder mystery role playing game is back again with JTBC's Crime Scene (크라임씬).
In the show the exceptional cast is brought to a crime scene and they take roles as suspects and use their investigative and deductive skills in various ways (observing the crime scene, group talks, hot seat, one-on-one interrogations) to catch the criminal amongst themselves.
After their investigations, the cast vote for who they suspect is the killer. If the majority of the cast is right, they get the gold prizes but if they're wrong and the killer got away with the crime, the murderer will collect all the gold.
From this episode onwards, there is a slight format change in the show: because a lot of viewers requested for the crime to be solved in one episode, the complete cases will be aired every Satuday night. The episode length is around 100 minutes (previously 70min + 70min).
The guest for this episode is Infinite's Sunggyu (next week the cast will be joined by Sistar's Soyu).
Also, smart lawyer Lim Bang-Geul leaves for scheduling reasons and is replaced by lawyer Kang Yong-Seok. (OP will refrain from commenting on the said individual, but left you the link).
The stage for this episode is actually an American prison; violent gangster Lee is killed during a 10-minute blackout.
Just who killed him and why?

Date: 2014-06-27 12:16 pm (UTC)Jinho, while did seem a little suspicious, didn't have that much of a motive IMO considering how he had a life sentence anyways. Plus, he was in solitary confinement which made it hard for him to be able to plan anything in advance. On the other hand, Jiyoon knew there was going to be a blackout; throw in the money + family + parole, it makes sense.
Lawyer Kang was grating on my nerves though. He was way too cocky. He pinned Jinho as the killer from the very beginning, insistent that he was 100% right even as more clues were revealed near the end. He basically only listened to what supported his belief. Ngl I was glad he got it wrong.
Is he here to stay?Oh he is here to stay, darn it. :(no subject
Date: 2014-06-27 01:44 pm (UTC)Oh yes, Lawyer Kang is so annoying! I hope they replace him as soon as they can because he's the only cast member that I dislike.

Date: 2014-06-27 01:39 pm (UTC)OMG! I was so sure it was Jinho because of the folded book. I also thought it was suspicious that the Brain Team wasn't working together, which meant it was one of them. And he wasn't stuttering this time too.
But half of me is kind of happy that it wasn't him because so far he's got a perfect record in getting the criminals right and not getting caught when he was the criminal. He's my favorite cast member now. Smart gamer guy! XD Also, LOL at everyone suspecting his bandana to be the murder weapon.
The case was hard, IMHO. They couldn't find the murder weapon because it was on the criminal. And even the crayon as a marker was kind of "huh?". I think they used blacklight to show the crayon during the blackout. Obviously that wouldn't happen in real life. And glow-in-the-dark crayons would't glow that brightly, right? I looked up the case this one was based on, and the method was a bit different. Same strangling with the sock and sneaker, but he did not cause a blackout.
I'm still not so sure if I like this one case per episode thing. At some points, it felt very rushed. And It's sad that they don't do the picking of roles with everyone, because it's fun when they try to guess the killer based on their reactions upon opening the envelope.
Lawyer Kang is so unpleasant compared to Banggeul. My opinion of him is very tainted because of the past crap he's done. And he was so cocky from the start. I cackled when the cast basically brushed him off and were more obviously enthusiastic about Sunggyu. Are Jinho and Sunggyu friends in real life? Seems like they're familiar with each other from the way they interacted.
Can't wait for the next episode. First female guest suspect. And MC Hyunmoo cross-dressing! Should be fun! XD

Date: 2014-06-27 11:17 pm (UTC)Also, totally knew it was larceny park because of the way she was acting. Usually she's a bit more aggressive in her deduction style (like questioning people, looking for clues, etc), but this time around she wasn't.

Date: 2014-06-28 11:48 pm (UTC)I finally got it right again (after having been wrong the first and third cases). At first I thought it was Lawyer Kang but then it was between Kang and Lifer Hong and in the end I decided to go with Larcency Park. She was the only one who knew there would be a black out (Lifer Hong couldn't have known because of the confinement) and who had a motive (Lifer Hong also had one but he couldn't have known about the black out).
Also, I think Larcency Park also got lucky with her case. Contrarily to the other cases, the murder weapon - one of the biggest clues - was actually on her body and it wasn't anything strange. The other important clue (the glow in the dark crayon) could also only have been discovered during a short amount of time where nobody could see and navigate well.
I heard there'll be only 10 episodes, is that true? :( I hope not because I am so addicted to this show. The new format is a bit rushed but I still like it anyway simply because I hated waiting another week to find out who the criminal is.
Also, does anyone know if The Genius is something? I really am starting to grow fond of Hong Jinho.

Date: 2014-06-29 08:44 am (UTC)My first correct guess
Date: 2014-06-29 02:44 am (UTC)I deduct that there are 3 basis for finding the murderer: Motive, Weapon and Knowledge about the blackout.
Strong motive: Lifer Hong and Larcenist
Know about blackout: Larcenist and Pick-pocketer
Weapon: Hong, and Pick-pocketer
I eliminated pick-pocketer because he lack strong motive and this murder need careful planning, and pick-pocketer will be out in another year, so even if he is vengeful they pick on him, he know he'll be out in a year so it make more sense to just endure it.
The knowledge about blackout is important because it is very dark so this must been planned. Lifer Hong can't carry this out if he doesn't know that a blackout is going to happen. I was leaning the most on the Larcenist, but we didn't find the weapon thats when I got stuck.
But the taser is where I decided Larcenist is the culprit. This is important because Lee Changwoo is a big man, so to strangle him, the culprit need to put him out first. The only people that can take the laser is Larcenist and Pick-pocketer. Since I already cross out Pick-pocketer, if left me with only Larcenist.
