how dare this spoiler make 'a' sound better than 'good tonight' what kind of lies...
not for mark biased fans: i was starting to feel bad b/c mark didnt have many lines in 'a' but then 'forever young' started. his weak intro threw off my groove. they need to strengthen his singing because rap isn't for him.
For a newbie, I actually think his rapping has been quite ok until now though, whereas Bambam is the one who has no idea what to do with his lines and/or pronunciation. I mean, by no means has he been anything like Kidoh or other actual rappers, but still not bad.
I feel bad for him because apparently they're demoting him to the "useless English speaker" for this comeback and that means... having him try to do some soft melodic rap (and, as proven, JYPE have no idea about hiphop so they probably left him to figure this out by himself or with a vocal, not rap, coach) and fail. Why oh why.
The line distribution in A is ridiculous :/ All in all the foreigner line is pushed to the back, but I just have no words for Mark's parts (or, the lack of them).
imo it seems like he doesn't have the stage presence to rap. his raps sound awkward unlike jackson, for example, who demands attention when he raps. the only positive thing i can say about bb's raps is that he's energetic.
i'm irritated about mark's lack of lines because they could actually mold him into a good rapper if they worked with him instead of handing him random english bits and hoping he'll wink his way through it to add some charisma.
I think he's done reasonably well all around, especially in the latest stages (Japan showcases, dream concert) now when he's comfortable being on stage and not afraid of the camera/crowd/messing up. Don't talk to me about bb's rap... ;)
Their Japanese press releases state Mark as their main rapper too, so I want to sob for the injustice :(
I know.. I wish JYPE would actually hire a hiphop producer because this cutesy stuff isn't what I or anyone else expected for a "hiphop group" and to be honest it's quite disappointin (especially 'A' since the choregraphy is a disaster, Mark has no lines JB can't nail his notes comfortably and the song is really just one phrase recycled). Mark's got a great voice and could have a really nice flow indeed if they worked with him and didn't give him these awful lines.
..I'm almost tempted to send a message to JYPE about this.
maybe if enough fans voice their concerns they'll consider it i wasn't even going to mention it but since you did i totallyyyyyy agree about JB. his notes were almost painful on stage :S
I wanted to link this earlier but this is the performace that made me think about all the potential Mark has: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4NFCNpJdbM . And also Jackson's reasonably good rap delivery.. why is there no hiphop in your hiphop-group JYPE?
I was talking about this with my friends yesterday and we thought that maybe we should send an email. Many of their other Japanese fans seem to have the same concerns (it also helps that Mark is without a doubt the most popular member amongts their Japanese fans and the reactions to 'A' were.. interesting).
Yes, JB's vocals.. in the link I just posted above he is mostly alright but his high notes just aren't good enough and when Yongjae doesn't have the technique or stamina/power either... they should have just taken the chorus down a few notes.
i didnt know he was the most popular member :o when jyp inevitably ships them off to japan hopefully he will have fixed the issues by then
jb kills me telling youngjae in, i think, the first episode of real got7 'oh i didnt think you could be a singer because you didnt sing well haha ha aha' bro pot meet kettle
ALSO why did jr get a whole verse to himself? the more i dwell on it the more i realize just how screwed the lines are >:|
Yes... his mixi (japanese sns) thread is very active and videos of his martial arts tricking even got linked to gree (another sns) and have good discussion which i can't remember has happened for a new kpop group.. ever. Well, if we don't count the threads mocking BTS' Japanese and the comedy videos based on their "pronunciation" (which btw is awful and I had fun watching some of the parodies). Also his merchandize sold out in a flash in both of their showcases and the amount of gifts and letters he received was huge :)
Well, to be fair.. the reason why Yongjae had next to no lines in their debut song is because he can't handle dancing and singing together at all. It was painfully obvious in their j-showcase when all his parts had him standing still before and during them in all songs and in the one it didn't, he couldn't hit the notes and kind of faded away. I'm thinking that is the reason for the terrible cutesy coreography this time. His voice has good qualities itself, but technique and stamina/power.. none. ohwell he's.. 18?
The whole line distribution is a mess yes, but jr didn't mess up his part so I'm kind of just shrugging. Mainly shrugging because I'm still fuming over the injustice done to Mark. You. Just. Don't. Leave your main rapper without any lines, damn it.
bleh, I should never get into any new, just debuted groups because there are these kinds of issues. Then again, I'm having such high expectations of JYJ's upcoming album and Jae's composing, lyrics and producing of it that it frightens me ;)
Mark's rap is cringeworthy and the remixes of A sound good (why so many though). A bit underwhelmed by the snippets so I'm gonna wait for the full album. Here's hoping the songs grow on me because I just pre-ordered the mini album.
Thank you for choosing the most repetitive song clips ever, JYP.
Whose voice is that on U Got Me?
A sounds better here than live, but is it so good that it needs 3 remixes? Mark's "so cute" in #7 makes me giggle though (I didn't even notice it in the live version, but it's there).
Yay for JB!
Mostly excited for Good Tonight though. Waiting for the dance video too.
I really liked "Good Tonight" from their showcase so I'm excited for it. The Collapsodone remix of "A" sounds a lot like Tablo's "Thank You for Breathing" and I think I like it more than the original just from the clip. "U Got Me" sounds like a Snoop Dogg song to me. :p

Date: 2014-06-20 04:23 am (UTC)U Got Me is going to be a jam. So is Good Tonight. And I'm so proud of JB getting a songwriting credit.
Forever Young sounds like better ballad than Playground and we haven't even heard the whole thing.
A (collapsedone remix) and A (TOYO Remix) sound better than the original version of A tbh. I could do without the Frants Remix though.
