It’s been four years since Gummy has made her comeback. A lot of people were surprised when she made her return as an artist not under YG Entertainment but through C-Jes Entertainment. In an interview with Newsen, the singer revealed the reasons for her big move.

“It’s been about half a year since I moved agencies and I think my old company has that certain tendency. YG is a company that doesn’t release albums that often,” Gummy started talking about her previous agency.

“They’re the type to release an album when there’s good music. The artists agree to that and each singer also has a lot of greed in wanting to perform with good music. When I was in YG, there were times when I made an album and then it was turned down once or twice. After some contemplating, I decided to move agencies,” explained Gummy.

Her move to C-Jes Entertainment has given Gummy an opportunity to release her mini album this June with the title song, “I loved… I have no regrets.”

“There was a second trial and error period for my album that was turned down, and I organized my thoughts about that whole process. With that, I started working on my mini album at this new agency I joined and came out with an album in six months,” she added.

It wasn't an easy decision for her to move agencies especially that YG Entertainment is one that has groomed her to be the singer that she has become. However, there is a need for growth and change, and the other company has given her an opportunity to do so. However, Gummy says that more than it being an opportunity, it is a natural process.

“There were a lot of things I learned while I was in YG. It still feels like home to me now. However, there are a lot of singers under YG Entertainment and I wished to do the music I like even more freely. My fans or the other people asked me, ‘Why don’t you release albums more often?’ and because of that, I thought of the difficult situations that I was in and I naturally made my move,” said Gummy.

We didn’t separate on bad terms. The president (Yang Hyun Suk) was the one who was apologetic. He told me that if there’s a place that could take better care of me than what YG was already doing, I should comfortably go there. So I think what I’m doing now is just natural,” Gummy further explained.

With every album she releases, Gummy gets a lot of compliments from the listening public. The same goes for her latest song, “I loved…I have no regrets.”

“More than getting popularity, my goal for this album is to receive recognition musically. I’m thankful for that. It’s expected to have divided opinions whenever an album is released but I am very happy that there are people who talk good things about me and who recognize my efforts,” said Gummy.

I was waiting for this to be posted. I'm glad she was honest about why she left. I know people like to sugarcoat those things. Wishing her the best in the future.

One thing: YG is a company that doesn't release albums often. YES...and that needs to change.

She's so gorgeous. Nice to hear that YG wasn't clueless to her situation and understood that she deserves to be somewhere where she could be appreciated.

Acknowledging that YG doesn't release albums and she wanted more freedom her and YG discussed and away she went. It's good he went to meet with her new agency before the deal was signed too.

It's true. There are more and more people and I feel like YG is that place that turns things out in a line, you know? Like someone will have to wait for the other person to finish first. I'd love for them to learn to juggle more than one artist at the same time. YG is also picky, lol. He wants everything to be a hit among the public but I wonder if he's ever tossed away some gems because of that. It's not necessarily bad but I can see how it would be stifling to stay there. Glad it was all amicable and she is releasing things more often now. ^^

Also the bob is so cute O:

Wheesung basically said the same thing but with more shade. Like how YG plays favorites. Idg how YG sympathizers ignore stuff like this specially those of you that throw shade at people like TOP. Gummi just said YG kept turning full albums down, and YB alluded to the same thing. TOP not having an album is mostly out of his hands unless he has GD connected to it (cuz people will buy his shit even if it's crap), or it sounds like a Katy Perry album. Let's be real, that's never going to happen.

People throw shade at TOP here? I'm confused because TOP can do no wrong on omona last time I checked

I wouldn't call myself a YG sympathizer but I don't like jumping to conclusions about something that I have no real evidence on... And I don't know how things are behind the scenes so I'm not going to take cryptic messages from the artists as fact or anything lol

But when more then one artists is saying it, it's not cryptic. Like I am not trying to come off as mean or whatever but you can see he really does play favorites.

It's not on here but other social media outlets, mostly from GD stans.

KVIPs have been spilling things on the inner machinations of YG for a while. GD complaining about being forced to do things to his music he didn't want to, should have been enough for people. There is a difference between knowing that YG is giving them a platform versus kissing YG ass. How can you sympathize with a guy that said he screwed up his own wife's career and had been lusting after her since middle school? That's just shameful.

Well I definitely don't kiss his ass... Or sympathize with him in any extreme way. That's for sure...

I honestly don't follow up with all YG news so, *shrug*

As far as I know

Tabi not releasing an album has all to do with him not wanting to/not finding time to. Tabi seems more concentrated on his acting career, he focuses on music less nowadays, I'm pretty sure that if he wanted to put out an album, YG would help him cause even YG knows that would be smart business, it would sell like hotcakes. I also don't think Tabi has much interest (at this time) to put out an actual solo album.

Gummy is another case, with her he probably was turning down albums because he didn't have time to promote her knowing she's not that profitable. He's a businessman at the end of the day. Bae also confirmed his album not being out for 4 years had to do with him too, he wasn't satisfied with some things, scratched a lot of stuff and also YG wasn't satisfied with it. Seungri got two solo albums already and despite YG not promoting him as well as GD or even Bae, he still put them out. So I honestly don't think YG is stopping Tabi from putting one out too if he wanted to. If he has a soft spot for anyone in that company it's the boys.

I've yet to see a single person shading Top in any way, shape or form here.

First of all I'm not making it up. I've seen people say nasty things on twitter, so far as my friends having to restart new accounts to get rid of followers. Omona isn't the only place where kpop fans interact.

Second of all, people need to bring me receipts when they say that TOP prefers acting over music. He said as recent as his promos from Alumni that 1. Music gives him more freedom and 2. Music is his first love and he's been talking about a solo album for 4 fucking years. Since 2008 YG has been saying that people are not ready for TOP's music, that it's not popular music. Said it from his own mouth on BIG BANG TV when they were in Japan he went to visit TOP's dorm, as well as other interviews during that time. Turn it up, as some of the fans remember was supposed to be the first single from his album which never materialized. That's how the single /was/ promoted.

Seungri got his first album because he told on Big Bang when they wanted to run away. They said this on Strong Heart and Taeyang recently talked about it in an interview. The second album he got, he was told, you want one, you have a week to do it. Who in the right mind besides Seungri would pull an album out of his ass in one week? Seungri did it to prove a point and had his shit overlap with strong players of KPOP including EXO and never won anything for it. If that YG action is defendable then you are not a VIP. TOP is not Seungri. He is not going to release something he doesn't want, and if he has to stand his ground like Youngbae, he's going to do it even if takes him 10 years.

Third, KVIPs have told us that when it comes to solo promos, they have to band together to promote their work, including GD's because YG's priority is Big Bang, the team. They go as far as to say that GD's Heartbreaker promos was 90% on them. If this doesn't indicate how YG sees solos, then Idk what does.

First of all, you said "those of you that throw shade at people like Top" I'm sorry, but it made me assume you're talking about people who comment on omona. If that's your experience on some other social media outlets where kpop fans interact, then I can't really tell you anything apart from: my experience is different. I've yet to see people talking about him in any type of bad light, but like I said, that's my experience.

I never said he prefers acting over music, I said he seems more concentrated on his acting career nowadays. I never claimed that music isn't his his first love or that it doesn't give him more freedom, he indeed said those things. YG saying his type of music isn't popular wouldn't really make him stop Tabi from releasing it period. CL's TBF was by no means a radio friendly song, it had no melody and YG still put it out knowing that it wouldn't do that well on the charts.

You can't claim with such certainty that it's YG stopping him. I'm not saying YG would let him put everything he wants, but he would defo come to a compromise in order to put that album out if that's what Tabi really wanted.

Seungri had a small amount of time to put both of his albums out. His first album was done in under a month or so.
"Who in the right mind besides Seungri would pull an album out of his ass in one week?" someone who already had tracks for it. Someone who was prepared and ready.

You're misunderstanding me, I'm by no means defending YG. He's an ass when it comes to many things, he cares a lot about his money, and he's a businessman first then everything else. I'm not defending him, but you can't be so blind as to place all the blame for Tabi not putting out an album out in all this time, on him alone. I'm saying if Tabi really wanted to put out an album that much, he would have done it by now. I'm pretty sure Tabi knows that the business he's in is first and foremost that; A BUSINESS. He knows that you cant have everything exactly how you want it, he's also been in YGE long enough to learn that. If he wanted an album full of stuff he wants despite what YG thinks, he would have put out a mixtape by now. He would have left YGE by now if YG was so stuck on not letting him do the music he wants that much as you claim.

Please don't try me with that "you're not a VIP" talk. I love those boys and I support all their group and solo endeavors. I also call them out on the shit they do when it's necessary as I do with my other bias, with YG's ass and with anyone else.

Of course his priority is Big Bang it doesn't take a scientist to guess that. As it should be because if not for Big Bang they might not have had those solo careers. Big Bang is his bread and butter, it's one of the biggest reasons his company is where it's at right now. He's an ass and makes a lot of wrong choices, but again, those boys are his favorites, he still goes all out on them, he helps them with all he can.

Honesty is so rare these days in any entertainment industry, let alone kpop where everyone loves everyone or pretends nothing happened in crisis. Props to her, plus it's nice to see her actually... making music.

I wish all situations with labels and artists were like this one, no hard feelings.
