The series will revolve around Park Hoon, a South Korean who was captured with his father and grows up in North Korea. He is trained to become a genius doctor, and though Park Hoon lands a job at the best South Korean hospital after defecting, he is treated as a foreigner. To find his lost North Korean first love, Song Jae Hee, he does anything to make money.

I used to be so into this show but the recent episodes have sucked away most of my enthusiasm . mostly how even when anyone in this show makes a decision it doesn't even matter because it'll likely be changed the next episode.

Damn, drama I was rooting for you. I never expected to say this but currently Chang Yi and Jae Hee are my favorite characters.
I liked Soo Hyun but her character changed for the worse, currently she seems like a backup option for Hoon, if the writer decides to kill Jae Hee or send her far away.

Hoon, damn why did the writer throw you under the bus? At first he couldn't live without Jae Hee and move on with his life but now he blames her, c'mon. At least for once the girl is not the damsel in distress but it seems like Hoon is the damsel in distress and Jae Hee will go for the noble idiot route.

I'm still hoping the bromance will happen.

According to the novel, Jae Hee will distance herself from Hoon after losing faith in him. She starts anew with another man. Hoon ends up marrying Soo Hyun, however he's never truly happy, as he still longs for Jae Hee.
However some parts are different in the book e.g. Hoon and Jae Hee already get married in NK and expect a child and etc.

Oh and the fanwars at dramabeans and koalasplayground are intense lol.

btw: Jin Se Yeon's acting impressed me in that scene with Agent Cha, her piercing gaze was intense and I liked the power shift in their releationship.

Yeah about Soohyun. Forever a backup option. Which is why I ship her with Park Haejin's character, lol. He's more interesting to me than Lee Jongsuk's character at the moment.

Not even Lee Jong Suk's charisma can save this drama, I'm so disappointed. I was so excited for this drama and the first few episodes were so promising, before everything became mental (and not a good kind of mental).

Agreed. Some of these characters are unrecognizable from what they once were, and not in a positive character development way. That being said, I'll still continue to watch the show every week lol

Idk, lately all the dramas have been pretty lackluster and 'meh'. There hasn't been a drama that really sucked me in (even 'you from another star' didn't fill that crack-drama hole in my heart).

The first episode is a bit rough. But stick with it as it gets a lot better. I think the show has a lot of heart.

The beginning is compelling but it gets messy around episode 8 (a shipping war broke out among the fans and the writer obviously nurtures that), however now I'm addicted and can't stop despite the fact that I want to kill the writer sometimes...and the fact that I stan LJS doesn't help either, maybe you should wait for the ending or read some recaps.
