2NE1 can speak up to 6 foreign languages

2NE1 has revealed their hidden talent through broadcast programme.

2NE1 was on KBS 2TV ‘Entertainment Weekly’ aired on 22nd August in an interview and when asked by reporter Kim TaeJin about their ability in foreign lanaguages they said, “We know 6 foreign languages from Tagalog, to French, to English to Japanese.”

And in the interview, Sandara Park introduced herself in Tagalog, CL in French and Gong MinJi in Japanese language.

Also the girls talked about each members’ role in the group – Sandara is the atmosphere-maker, Park Bom is the one in charge of aegyo, and leader CL is the ‘omma (mother)’, and youngest member MinJi is in charge of roasting bread in their dormitory.

Member Sandara Park also talked about their broken Music Bank trophy which she had posted the photos to online, “The production team has came and contact us telling us ‘We will fix it’ after knowing that the trophy became 2 pieces.”

i was under the impression that CL's japanese is better than minji's...
i didn't even know that minji speaks japanese in the first place. where/when did she learn it?

I know Sandara speaks Tagalog.
If they speak them more or less well, yay. It's just that some people say they know 329439 languages when all they can say are introduction and sentences such as "This is pen." LOL

Well I know Bom/CL/Dara are proficient at English, and that Dara can speak Tagalog fluently, but I'm skeptical about CL's so-called fluency in French and Japanese. She probably just knows them on a conversational level.

It reminds me of when Gackt said he could speak French, Korean, English, Mandarin AND Japanese all fluently and I was like "yeah uh huh".

Not picking on 2NE1, I'm just curious.
If a native speaker were to speak to them in English/French/Japanese etc. would they be able to have a full conversation at normal speed? I know Sandara can speak Tagalog b/c she lived in the Philippines but how fluent are the girls at the languages they say they speak???? There's been way to many times when an idol claims to speak a language but when you hear it, it's not really true cause all they can say are greetings and simple phrases from memorization.

dara's totally fluent in filipino, as noticed by those who saw her interviews when she was on vaca in the philippines. apparently she doesn't have an accent? and from the bits and pieces i've seen of CL's french, i'd say she sounds like she can carry a basic conversation. and bom went to college and lived in the states for a while, so while she does have an accent, she can speak english (and does so on 2ne1 tv quite a bit rofl).

i only trust that bom and cl can speak english. at a high convo level tho? They might have an accent, Bom certainly does when speaking english.

I know CL lived in France when she was younger. I'm guessing she knows more than the average person in Korea but definitely not enough to call herself fluent.
