What Jun Ji Hyun Said About Kim Soo Hyun And Winning The Grand Prize



Jun Ji Hyun was honored at the 50th Baeksang Arts Awards for her role in the drama "You Who Came From The Stars." She won the Daesang or Grand Prize for playing Chun Song Yi, the self-involved Hallyu star who falls for alien Do Min Joon, played by Kim Soo Hyun. At the ceremony she spoke about Kim Soo Hyun and what the prize meant to her.

The actress said that she was not expecting the grand prize. She hoped for Best Actress. When she arrived, she had the idea that "you Who Came From The Stars" was not going to get a lot of attention. So, winning the Daesang was unexpected. And it was a little overwhelming. "I feel as if the public really responded to my heartfelt efforts with this award," she said and began to cry.

It was Jun Ji Hyun's first Baeksang Award in 15 years, after she won a rookie award in 1999 for her role in the film "White Valentine." Her last drama role was also 15 years ago when she starred in "Happy Together."

She thanked the drama's writer and director and gave a special shout out to her co-star Kim Soo Hyun for his efforts in making the drama a success. "Mr. Do Min Joon, thanks for not returning to the stars and staying with me," she said. "I sincerely thank you. Let's do another one soon." (;___;)

Jun Ji Hyun attended the ceremony with Kim Soo Hyun and sat next to him. The two previously appeared together as a couple in the film "The Thieves."

Kim Soo Hyun also mentioned her when he received his "Most Popular Actor in a Drama" award for "You Who Came From The Stars." He also won a Best New Actor Award for his performance in the film "Secretly, Greatly."

After he completed his list of thanks, he said, "Last but not least, Ms. Chun Song Yi, I love you."

After the awards ceremony Jun Ji Hyun could not remember crying. She said that when the prize was announced all she could think of was all the love the drama received. The actress celebrated her award by having dinner with cast and crewmembers.

Later this year Jun Ji Hyun will star in the film "The Assassination." Ironically, by portraying Chun Song Yi, Jun Ji Hyun became even more of a Hallyu star. The drama's popularity dramatically increased her international fan base.

seriously, i don't mind rl shipping, i'm guilty of that, but jjh is married and their shippers are so fucking gross and disrespectful towards her husband, wishing that she cheated on him with ksh, some wishing him death, hating suzy and talking shit about her (because ksh is super close to her like he is with jjh), etc. what annoy me the most is that those shippers seem to be new fans of the actors, especially of jjh, and keep projecting themselves in the couple and disrespecting the actors, ignoring a bunch of things.

it reminds me of the weird rl shipping of lee bo young and lee jong suk. i get it, ppl like the show/think the otp was qt, but actors are not the characters they play. just stop. it's so embarrassing and must make the actors so uncomfortable :/

mte, it's when they're projecting the characters onto the actors so much that it starts actually affecting them - that's when it gets weird. rl shipping is mostly harmless, but not when you're inventing affairs that aren't there, and putting unnecessary scrutiny on other people's relationships when it's really none of our business in the first place. there is a line, but unfortunately so many fans cross it :/

Awww, I remember watching Happy Together on local TV. So many stars were on it. Lee Byung Hun, Jun Ji Hyun, Cha Tae Hyun, Kim Ha Neul etc. She has really carved out a great career since then.

I must really catch up on Stars since it's my school hols now. Damn, even my brother who isn't a k-drama follower has finished the series because his favorite taiwanese variety kept dropping mentions about it.

bless her, she's stunning and honestly i thought she would grab the top prize. she's at the top of her game atm with her popularity and influence rn. plus it's always nice to see ladies win the tv daesang bc it doesn't happen all that often.

personally i wasn't that keen on the show (i never actually finished it, oops) but their chemistry was top notch and i'm sure they will work together again (maybe in a film?).

i watched some of the awards live and i was so endeared to kim soo hyun tbh - i always imagined him as super confident and suave (lol) but he is actually such an awkward turtle. he has said some questionable things, but yeah. he does seem v cute :').

They had such amazing chemistry and I'd love it if they worked together again, but mostly I just want her in another drama!! She deserved that daesang, and I hope this encourages her to return to tv more often instead of disappearing for another five years or something.
