After being chosen as the warm-up act for pop star Lady Gaga‘s U.S. tour this summer, Crayon Pop has now been confirmed to open the American singer’s upcoming Korean concert as well.
According to sources in the entertainment industry, Crayon Pop will be the opening act for Lady Gaga at the “AIA Real Life: NOW Festival 2014“ taking place on August 16 at Jamsil Sports Stadium.
The energetic girl group can be expected to perform five to six tracks, including their hits “Bar Bar Bar” and “Uh-ee.” Their performance will go on for around 30 minutes.
“AIA Real Life: NOW Festival 2014″ has been a hot topic as of late, as YG Entertainment artists PSY, BIGBANG, 2NE1 and others are preparing for a large-scale family concert, which will be a part of the festival. Their show will most likely take place on August 15.
In related news, Crayon Pop recently wrapped up their promotions for “Uh-ee,” and they will start touring the U.S. with Lady Gaga on June 26.

Date: 2014-05-22 03:31 pm (UTC)Lmao, absolutely not. That's not how Gaga operates. Most of her opening acts have been close friends of hers, meaning for her to reach out to a group of people she doesn't personally know indicates she really likes CP. The tour isn't the same as the album, it is less theatrical and serious and more focused on the "rave" and fun aesthetic, which I feel CP represents.
What I'm worried about is the crowd. People have been reacting negatively to Hatsune, but that could just be because she's not a real person. I'm hoping CP is able to entertain the American crowds, which I think they can if people don't have sticks up their asses.

Date: 2014-05-22 05:24 pm (UTC)TBH, if people react negatively in person, I'm just gonna chop it up to them being idiots. I can't imagine watching a group as fun as CP and reacting negatively.

Date: 2014-05-22 06:23 pm (UTC)Anyway what's so bad about it? It seems like a legit deal and either way it will help ANY kpop act get exposure. Idk why people talk about global success for idols and then complain when they do. For CP they can afford the time put in, although I understand why ppl were upset about the wonder girls

Date: 2014-05-22 08:39 pm (UTC)I'm not saying "racism" itself is blown out of proportion. I'm saying that it's very unlikely that CP will run into trouble while performing. I haven't been to many concerts but generally fans put up with whatever opening act with tolerance or politeness and then get ready for the real show. Internet racists =\= real life.
Just because there are trolls on twitter or whatever being racist doesn't mean that something bad race-wise is going to happen to CP on tour.

Date: 2014-05-22 09:03 pm (UTC)The point is that - like you said - they won't be rude at the concert in all likelihood. They can be rude at home but CP still got your money so what's the point. To ME personally I don't see the big deal BUT YOU ARE FREE TO THINK OTHERWISE. I honestly don't know why you are taking offense at my opinion.
Also you ignored my point and the point that other users have made - that likely the people being "racist" are likely trolls.

Date: 2014-05-22 09:13 pm (UTC)I've been nothing but neutral and polite in my responses. I've simply disagreed with what people have been saying about this topic. What are you hoping to accomplish by posting the same thing again and again? Obviously it's not about discussion, which is what I'm assuming your reason was for making this post. Why make a post just to have people agree and circle jerk?
I'm basically agreeing with you because my point is that CP gets $$$, exposure and connections at the end of the day ("w/e get that ₩₩₩").
However I honestly don't know why Gaga or ANY American company would waste dollars on a "humiliation tactic" for CP. That reasoning makes ZERO sense if you're looking at it from a business perspective. Nobody gets into a catfight over this shit unless you're real rivals (CP is not), and even then that's mostly among companies selling actual products.

Date: 2014-05-22 09:33 pm (UTC)second: you are wrong
third: you keep excusing racism again and again and again regardless of what anyone says to you and its really pissing me off
sit down, puppy icon

Date: 2014-05-22 09:57 pm (UTC)To me it didn't make sense if you're going to keep replying without saying anything, so... that was the reasoning for my first response. Only two people have responded to me about the racism thing... And I'm not obligated to agree with anyone. You are telling me that I'm "policing you" and then turn around and say that I'm wrong as if your opinion is the only one that matters, I really don't understand. If you truly think so then what else is there to say to each other?
If you read my comment I said there's a difference between people saying this online behind a computer screen where they can say anything - some people say stupid things just because they can, or for attention, or because they want people to get angry... There's a reason why online comments aren't taken as seriously as in real life. That was what I was trying to say, not "excusing racism". And I don't know why you are so angry because realistically in any case this racism will affect me the most as I share the same race as CP.
If you seriously have a problem with me, you need to bring it up with a mod instead of bullying me. And this is an honest suggestion, we can work it out with a third party if it's necessary. I mean no offense to anyone.

Date: 2014-05-23 03:36 am (UTC)The internet allows racist dirtbags to amplify their voices to a much greater degree than they ever could in a real life public space. I'm sure there will be some racists in the Gaga crowd because you can unfotunately find racists in any crowd of that size but they'll be drowned out by everyone else.
Also, I kinda wish everyone would stop acting like Crayon Pop (and every other kpop group who comes to America) are these naive little children -- they are professionals who work in a difficult, cut throat, sometimes vicious industry. They know the risks they are facing, but why would they not try to take advantage of an opportunity like this?

Date: 2014-05-23 05:45 am (UTC)I think it's a weird combination of not wanting kpop artists to actually get popular here and an overprotectiveness for their biases?
A lot of people see America as the big bad wolf but in actuality they probably would be treated better than in Korea which is the funny part. And ITA that this gig could be great for them. It's way better than what the WG got that's for sure. And most kpop acts have companies that will protect their own assets, so I don't see why they would knowingly agree to something that would put their own artists on a bonfire.
