Suzy Cast as Lead in Upcoming Pansori Movie “Dorihwaga”

The “Nation’s First Love,” Suzy, will be making her movie comeback.

According to Osen, miss A‘s Suzy has been cast in the leading role of an upcoming movie about pansori, traditional Korean singing and storytelling, called “Dorihwaga” (or “Flower Song” ). ”Dorihwaga” is the story of Shin Jae Hyo, a famous pansori writer and teacher from the 19th century who writes a pansori based on a beautiful student of his.

The movie will be directed by actor and director Lee Jong Pil, who is known for his appearance in “Man From Nowhere” and for directing the movie “Born to Sing.”

A representative of JYP Entertainment told OSEN, “It is most likely that Suzy will appear in ‘Dorihwaga’ and she is currently practicing pansori for her new role.”

The male lead of the movie has not yet been revealed.

the scenario is interesting, I'm willing to watch it!
but if she plays the woman who inspired the songs, I'm afraid it's gonna be the same kind of 1st love role. Anyway, I want to see her in traditional clothes.

I'm already happy that she has been learning pansori for the last two months and that she will sing in this movie. Unfortunatelly, JYP always play it safe with the first love image, but, hopefully, this time she'll probably have way more to do and to learn.

yeah!! I'm excited to hear her and we never know, there were a lot of inspiring women in the past too! I just hope they won't put all the blame on the woman like in Architecture 101 because I hated this film.

I had the great fortune of witnessing a pansori performance once, it's so interesting! I had to get used to it a bit but it was definitely a great experience!
I'm also happy for Suzy to get a new movie role, even though I don't know if she'll really be able to pull of the singing in this??? I mean, the training for pansori singers is apparently excrutiating and it takes a rather long time to perfect it. Imo it wouldn't be a shame to have someone else sing for her Bollywood-style, but well.

i'm excited about the movie but a bit apprehensive, i wish she would work more in modern projects before doing historical ones. now i wonder who is the cast as well!

also, jype got to stop playing coy when it comes to suzy accepting parts when she already did, for GFB they only confirmed it when the table reading was about to happen, even though she had been having martial arts lessons etc. she's been learning pansori for months now, she already accepted the movie, we are not dumb jype.

also now it makes sense why lately she looked so tired.
