Drama series is inspired by the "Hwaseong serial murder case" which occurred from 1986 to 1991 in the Taean Neighborhood of Hwaseong, South Korea. Ten women were raped and murdered during that time period. The real life case also inspired 2003 movie "Memories of Murder".


20 years ago Moo-Yeom’s (Yoon Sang-Hyun) father was a suspect in the "Gap Dong” serial murder case. Because of the detectives’ oppressive investigation, Moo-Yeom’s father killed himself.

Now, Moo-Yeom is a detective and works to capture the killer Gap Dong. The statue of limitations has expired for the serial murder case and Moo-Yeom resigns to the belief that Gap Dong is dead. New clues though for Gap Dong appears in front of Moo-Yeom and he sets out to catch him once and for all.

All I have to say is I CALLED IT. I KNEW IT. YET, I still don't feel like it's this easy? Also, the character who plays the slower psych patient is HOT. And then Joon's hot....this makes everything very unsettling.

Dr. Maria is a total badass. I was incredibly shocked at her actions with Tae Oh. I didn't think she was going to get so raw on him. I don't blame her of course, but even so, I was completely sidetracked by her.

But now what happens since we "know" who Gap Dong is? What will the rest of the episodes entail.

Onto more important things, can we discuss this and how it makes me very confused?

Joon's scary jfc. Mte op the wannabe Gap Dong tho, I wasn't ready for that (he's kinda like a G.O 2.0 LOL).

I'm interested in how Tae Oh is developing and somewhere it my deepest of hearts I hope Tae Oh moves on from Maria and just stays chill with Ji Ul (I don't get her mad monk thing either).

Tbh idk how I feel about Maria. I can't tell if she's badass bc she continually has to rely on Mu Yeom for god knows what reason, and moreover she's pretty reckless. She knew from the start that Tae Oh was the copycat, yet kept that information hidden because she wanted to find Gap Dong for herself-- and people continued to die. When she had the opportunity to give the police information, she kept it to read it because she wanted to find Gap Dong for herself-- someone died because of that. The only female characters I like atm are Ji Ul, Ji Ul's mom and the female police officer.

The news reporter can fuck off too, annoys the hell out of me.

That's what I'm thinking, too. Like they wouldn't make it THAT obvious who Gap Dong is...because when Maria reflects on it, it doesn't seem to be the same guy.

I still find Maria suspicious I don''t know what to think of her it seems like she's got two faces or something... It didn't occur to me that she knew the other girl.

Joon's face is stupid. (and by that I mean gorgeous and dsfddgfhtfrtrtegjnghg)and I loathe it.

I'm glad it seems a victim was finally saved (or so it seems)

Why must Ryu Tae Oh make me feel sorry for him...WAAAAEEEEEEEEE!

Han is seeming kinda suspicious now too.

I don't think the mental guy is Gap Dong.

Are there drugs that actually work like that or is that just something completely made up?

woot! i was right. it was the dopey guy! (and yes...he's hot too. Like really, why do the crazies have to be hot?!)

like i said in my previous comment (http://omonatheydidnt.livejournal.com/13219201.html?thread=1194892161#t1194892161), he still doesn't fit the age range! (so dopey & tae oh must be copycats. tae oh finally thinks he found the guy and dopey is glad that someone thinks he gapdong even though he's not) i don't think it's mad monk, but i'm still suspicious of the new police chief and Maria's step dad. after this episode, tbh, i think that the real gapdong is Maria's step dad. idk the motive, but i think it's him. if not him, then it's the new police chief.

also, can i just say that although tae oh is bad, i still feel for him. like when his mother brought him the pills, she wanted to kill him. sure, she said that his doctor would save him, but i truly believe that she didn't want him to be saved. she's made a new life for herself and it seems as if she is tired of cleaning up her son's mess (which is understandable...especially when your son is killing innocent people & killed his father...or did he? is there more to that story, i wonder? this drama has me thinking all types of scenarios and what is true and what is false, lol) and just wants to live a carefree life...without the possibility of tae oh ever being in it. like, the guy has issues, but like i shouldn't be rooting for him...but i am. i also want Ji Ul and him to keep their connection. i want her to know the truth about him, but still support him b/c i really don't think he would hurt her. and although he might "love" Maria (which, eh...i think he obsessed with the idea of her & of the fact that she survived), i think that his connection with Ji Ul is just so innocent and pure and he can really be himself. b/c although she is still nervous and a bit suspicious around him, i think that she still believes in him.

idk what to say about Maria b/c i too, can't figure out if she's brave or stupid. i understand that she wants to figure out who gapdong is, but risking others just for the sake of your piece of mind is messed up, so eh...idk what to say about her. she's on the fence with me.

and that gif...let's not even.

p.s.: why do i feel like tae oh will die in this drama? idk why...i just feel like something will happen and he will have to die because of it. whether it be saving someone or someone killing him.

lol it was so obvious they made that slower loser guy into (wannabe?) Gap Dong. They kept on panning the camera to him! But then damn when he cleaned up I was like wait this guy is kind of handsome...

I just keep on liking Ryu Tae Oh more and more OTL.... I really liked his text to Ji Wool when she was lurking outside his cafe.

But damn these cops in this drama are really stupid...
