Group KARA, now a 3 member group, will be holding their fan meeting on May 24. This event is their first official promotion in 5 months as the girl group will be meeting with 1,000 fans for this special 70 minute event.

This will be the first time the group has done an official promotion as a 3 member group. Even before ticket sales opened for this fan meeting, numerous requests and calls were received on how to attend the meeting. Their '2014 Kamilia Day Fan Meeting' will be held on May 24 at the Blue Square's Samsung Card Hall in Seoul. The ticket sales will be open from May 9 to May 16. The profits from the tickets sales will be going to those in need.

KARA grasped the attention of fans in Korea when they debuted back in 2007 with their album, "The First Blooming." They reached immense popularity with their hit song "Mister" in 2009. Hits including "Lupin" and "Pandora" followed, putting KARA on the list of beloved idol groups before part of the group split.

Currently, KARA consists of Park Gyu-ri, Han Seung-yeon and Goo Hara, according to The Korea Times. Two of the former members, Nicole and Kang Ji-young, left when their contracts with their agency, DSP, expired this year. Nicole has returned to the U.S. while Kang left to study in England.

Although there are reportedly plans to make additions to the group, nothing has been confirmed yet. They will also be holding a fan meeting in Tokyo, Japan on June 1, according to Yonhap News.

KARA created a solid fan base in Japan after debuting in 2010, topping the charts with "Jet Coaster Love." The group became the first Korean girl group to sell one million singles in Japan in 2012. KARA eventually became so big internationally that they were named one of the 10 Stars of Korea's tourism during the 2012 Korea Tourism Awards, according to Yahoo News Philippines.

Idk, I think they're done in Korea but they'll still find success in Japan.

are they doing well in japan?

Yeah, extremely well. They held a concert last year in Japan that sold out all 45,000 seats within like 5 minutes. They're the first female Kpop group to hold a concert at the Tokyo Dome. Honestly, they're probably the most successful KPop girl group in Japan, maybe next to SNSD.

Who's more popular? Kara or snsd? Ive always had the impression kara has/had more name recognition among the japan public, snsd has a huge fandom.

within Japan probably Kara Snsd have better sales because of their international fandom also buying their Japanese stuff

You're pretty much spot on. Kara definitely has more name recognition in Japan compared to SNSD. A lot of SNSD's Japanese fanbase were fans before they even began promoting in Japan while Kara didn't really have that benefit, which could have been a good thing because Kara was able to build a fanbase that didn't rely on their KPop promotions.

Best of luck to them, for real. It's definitely hard when multiple members leave. I'm curious as to how their music will sound.

Best of lucks. KARA was one of the first groups I got into and many of their songs are still my jam, so I hope they find enough success as three to at least keep working in the industry while they still want to.

And I hope Nicole and Jiyoung are also happy. I know it says Jiyoung's studying, does anyone knows what she's studying? Is it music related or is she done with the industry? I just have so much love for these girls x)

Jiyoung is taking acting and language classes.
Me too, bb, I wish them all the best. They are hard-working girls.

I think it could only work if they change their korean concept drastically.

Best of luck to one of the best girl groups out there. I'm sad Nicole left but we still have Hara at least.

idk... while I do wish them luck with Japan, I think it's a good idea to look for new members at the meantime to fill in the void of two members missing. The group just now just feels incomplete and thus "not at their best anymore" to me at this point. I admit there's a possibility that fans might not welcome the idea of new members replacing Nicole/Jiyoung, so I guess the company is just testing the waters right now to see if they'll still be successful in Japan with the remaining members...

Well at least Seungyeon is still there so the singing ability hasn't gone anywhere. I'm all for adding members if the new girls will be able to actually sing. Then again I'm not a Kamilia so maybe making additions at this point is a bad idea.

idk, it feels at this point like they should let it go, but at the same time if they're still making money and they are happy with the way things are going, then i cant really blame them.

they did it before and they'll do it again. as long as my princess gyuri gets to do what she likes. too bad for jiyoung tho. she's useless on her own.

i think they can still do well because vocals and visual still remains..
and what else can the remaining members and dsp do beside just do it with the remaining members?
both of them need to live and they want to do it so i don't see anything wrong with this
