Belated happy birthday~!

We met in a hotel room. We choose not to be in a photo studio, because we wanted him to be comfortable just like be at home or at his own work studio. Looking at the charming man, we told him to treat it that he’s at home, told him to relax and pose for us. Then SSK replied “who would dress in this manner at home ? isn’t this too formal ?” Just like what we had expected, he’s isn’t a “say yes” man. But after that remark, he still listened to the instructions given by the photographer and posed for him. In the end, just for InStyle, he undid 3 buttons of his shirt.

That day, SSK felt that climbing up Cheonggyesan (a mountain in Gyeonggi-do with an elevation of 658.4 m) wasn’t enough. He even had a tennis game before arriving at the hotel. Tennis is his favorite. His eyes shined when the conversation involved tennis, literally making his eyes looked bigger. Why he liked tennis so much? He said its due to the increasing number of woman players in country. Listening to him talk, he tend to be able to influence his listeners to agree with his reasoning. The ability to influence others to listen to his songs over and over again, to “ignite” others with his voice.

Have you been actively playing tennis recently ?

SSK : I loved sports, and had tried swimming, table tennis, boxing, jogging, trekking, basketball…and concluded that tennis is the most fun. It would be great if someone can organize some tennis matches for entertainers like us. Regardless of whether one plays tennis well, so long as the woman player put on the tennis top, displaying her upper bodyline, its already a piece of art. Not necessary sexy or graceful. Women always wanted to look slim, they then started dieting, please don’t. A toned body from exercising looks better.

Heard that you would occasionally jog from Banpo to Yeouido, didn’t anyone recognize you?

SSK : They couldn’t catch up with me. Because I ran really fast (laugh), dressed in something one wouldn’t recognize, and with my fringe tied up.

Recalled SSK’s inner beauty theory, rather than dressing up externally, the inner self is more important

SSK: Actually I do not have any fashion sense. I may not even have bought any clothes for myself, I can just wear anything I grab from home. Although my current occupation requires me to dress up, but during my younger days, I tend to feel confident and live in my own world. Thinking that if others ignored me due to my dressing, it’s just vanity, just putting on a outer cover on an ordinary person. But not now anymore. Now at times, I would think to myself that something looks good. My dad, who is also someone who doesn’t like to spend money on clothing, complimented on a green checkers top not long ago.

Often people compliment on your hidden charm. What do you think your charm is ?

SSK : My humor to make others laugh, to break the ice in order to get to know the other party. Many thinks that I am very picky, but I am not. It’s just when I faced something unreasonable, I tend to be tactless, but I am really a warm-hearted person. I believed that filial piety is a virtue

We are very curious about the SSK at home

SSK : I stay with my parents. Most of the time, I tend to be out, and as well as due to outdoor sports. When I do get home after work, I would open a can of beer and watch some TV. I also watched the movie “Secret Sunshine”. Since I am not staying on my own, my time at home is always occupied.

Recently SSK’s activity is a hot topic

SSK : Frankly I think it has been stagnant. Although occasionally I would participate in some drama OST, as well as concerts, maybe I am just lazy, of taking up new challenges or just my character. And I did pondered over it. And I also asked myself if I am happy. I am really glad to receive lots of love from the public due to WitchHunt, but as compared to when is the release of my album ? when I will get married? there are still many things for me to explore, felt like putting down all these and leave, but its not easy. I am comfortable with Radio that’s why I am able to do it for 4 years. That’s me. When I get close to someone, I would hang out with that person for 3 years. But this temporary break from radio may be a breaking point for me.

Giving up something may be the beginning of another.

SSK : It may be a pity, but I would like to spend more time on my music. Looking back, I did try some new challenges.

Have you received any proposal so far ?

SSK : Nothing definite & concrete. Because WitchHunt was created to compete with Super Star K, its like using the egg to hit the stone (impossible to win). So maybe that’s why its easier to do. There wasn’t any pressure to make it big. Same goes to “2D1N”. Even if there is, its from the brotherhood and how well I was treated by the PD & staffs.

You have the ability to listen well. To answer to all questions.

SSK : Even those who dislike me would tell me that listening to me talk, it’s like giving them a new light in life. A professional golf coach may not play as well as professional player. It’s just that he is able to see certain things which the player can’t. The ability to provide some insights to what the player is lacking on. It’s just giving an alternative thought on the subject. I just hope my opinion will be accepted by the other party.

We are curious who SSK listens to when he is troubled.

SSK : I will take other people’s story as reference point for myself, and I do get my own answers from it. I believe one needs to find his own answers. Others can only provide counseling but not the actual answer.

How’s your preparation for your upcoming concert ?

SSK : This “Wedding Reception” concert seemed to be able to provide happiness to others. Even singing “Oh Butterfly” at a May outdoor concert would be nice. Whether to the one who sings or the one who is listening, my own songs are pretty depressing, so I am in agony how to bring up the atmosphere at the concert.

You are from Korea University, but why are you holding your concert at Yonsei University ?

SSK : There isn’t an outdoor concert venue as good as the one at Yonsei University. Frankly during school days, we were really rivals, but now its no longer that way. I would joke when introducing Sweet Sorrow group who were from Yonsei University, I would say “their music are the best but not their school”. But its just to make others laugh.

Who would you invite to be your own wedding singer at your own wedding ?

SSK : Of course I would sing for the bride. The wedding reception is usually for the bride. Everyone thought I would sing at my sister’s wedding, but my brother-in-law was the one who sang while I played the piano. It’s just right for the bridegroom to sing to the bride on their wedding day.
