Rookie girl group Year 7 Class 1 has gotten caught up in a controversy regarding the ‘glorification of bullying.’

Appropriate to the name of their group, each of the members has the role of a ‘class officer’: president, vice-president, entertainment head, athletic head, etc. One of the members, however, is the ‘bread shuttle.’ ‘Bread shuttle’ is a slang term used to refer to one who is bullied into running errands such as buying food or cigarettes for older or stronger students. Along with bullying, this one of which is considered a type of school violence. Some netizens who heard that Seventh Grade Class 1 is using the ‘bread shuttle’ term commented on it, saying that it’s too much.

In an interview, member Yoo Hwa said, “While there is a negative meaning [to ‘bread shuttle’], we decided to use the term in order to show that we can come together with others.

Do you think they should rethink their concept?

lol wut...
what happens if they get older.... will they forever be Year 7 Class 1 ....
Honestly, such a stupid name and concept...
They could've gone the AKB route, had the school uniforms as a concept but not specify what year and class....

After the T-Ara incident, you'd think groups would be more cautious about the whole bullying thing.

I don't like the concept, giving each a role. And yes, putting everyone in "good positions" and then use a term used in bullying situations is not exactly the best idea.

great. did anybody point out the unnecessary aggressiveness towards women in BTS's mv? regardless of it being a part of a ~concept and all i still see it as a form of bully

idk some ppl thought that was ~romantic~ rme
as if we're in a kdrama or manga where the harder you shove is proportionate to your affections
then some ppl said that boys handling girls roughly was a 'cultural thing' so we should respect it LOL

ugh reminds me of the heirs fights "but he's not a bully anymore and he loves her that's why he tells her not to help the kids being bullied!!" and "i know he bullies her but he's just trying to figure out his feelings!!!"

fucking kim eun sook and her sexist dramas.

I saw comments about it both here and on Tumblr and Twitter...but haven't seen any new articles about it.
Jin was apologetic about in an interview as well...but there wasn't any scandal~ that I've seen.

I think I also saw/heard something about them saying they felt uncomfortable doing it and didn't like it either.

Yup, I think that was the same interview or behind the scenes thing that I saw. It's really these directors/producers/writers responsibility to NOT perpetuate this shit.

At first I didn't want to watch the mv cause I heard about the pushing and stuff. Then I finally watched it. It was so unnecessary. What was that director thinking? And wasn't the director female?

yeah, it was VERY unnecessary and could've been cut out all together. him slamming the locker was forceful enough, they didn't need to include him putting hands on the poor girl. not sure about the directors gender though. but women can be just as guilty as men at perpetuating this kind of b.s.

TRUTH.

"bad boy" seems to mean abusive. Which is no. Now that I'm thinking about I'm surprised the video wasn't banned or had a 19+ rating. Little kids, let alone adults, don't need to be seeing that.

the 5 or 6 high school themed dramas I've viewed all seemed to have that same sort of "if he likes you, he'll drag you around by the wrist and even if you say no oppa is going to make you do what he knows is right!" mentality. so i'm not surprised it didn't get flagged tbh.

And THAT is why I don't really like dramas. Because if that was me I would have slapped someone and I can't stand to watch it. Especially when they end up falling in love with that one. Like NO. That's some elementary school love logic.

It really is lol (elementary playground logic)
I tend to stay away from the HS dramas now (unless someone I enjoy is in it, and then I wind up FF through most of it). But unfortunately there's still this "A man knows best!" vibe sometimes. Which is frustrating when the female lead is SUPPOSED to be this rockin', outspoken, stands on her own 2 feet character. Yet when love~ is involved suddenly she's a little girl who needs oppas help. But that same feeling/vibe is in a lot of Western stuff too, just maybe not as blatant.

Yeah, yeah. I've actually only finished two dramas because I can't handle all dramatic stuff and mistreatment in others I've seen. Let's Eat, up until like the last 4 episodes, didn't really have anything to do with love and even then it wasn't a main theme. Moon Embracing the Sun was the only other drama.

It's like love is some weakness. I especially hate it in the dramas where the girl is badass and like beats up people but then enter douchebag and suddenly she can't do crap or is letting him drag her around by her wrist. Even though! She doesn't want to go with him but she won't say anything and then when she finally does he somehow blames her and she feels bad. WHAT?! yeah, it is in Western stuff too. I dislike it. But even from a young age I was like "I would not go with him" and now I'm like "well it's great that she found love and cute couple but why does she need a man?"

Hell yeah, there's no way I would EVER put up with half the stuff they show on tv shows lol.
She doesn't want to go with him but she won't say anything and then when she finally does he somehow blames her and she feels bad. WHAT?!
OMG yes! that is so frustrating!
Ya know, rn I'm watching Bride of the Century, and the female lead (thus far) has stood up to the shitty rich-boy fiance. I hope they keep her character strong, and outspoken like she has been. But she's starting to fall for him (cuz ya know, he's asshole solely bc he's damaged and maybe love~ can save him. Same tired trope, but still pretty interesting so far cuz there's supernatural elements to it and I'm still interested in how the story is going to play out.)

ugh the agency knows it was gonna be controversial too, their excuse was something like how they want to show that even though the word has a negative connotation they wanted to show how these "bread shuttles" could get along with people just fine -- which is the most fucking offensive excuse since crayon pop's ilbe defense, because i'm sorry, i didn't realize it was your fault if you're being bullied, and not the bully's fault. they're making it sound like "bread shuttles" who can't get along with people (who bully them) are like that because of their own problems.

case of cheap noise marketing and i hope they burn. also they really need to let go of the school girl concept.

Yeah they should change her position from "bread shuttle".
It's not like an idol group, with members that know each other, getting along is going to show real students that the "bread shuttle' student can "come together with others"

I'm tired of the school concept personally, but I understand why companies keep going for them (target audience are school age and all).

I'd never heard of the term until watching School 2013's after special thing. And it seemed like the audience and MC's were shocked that, that type of bullying existed and wasn't just part of dramas.
