‘Korea’s Vanessa Mae’ Sue Son on SBS Star King!

Violinist Sue Son (Son SooKyeong), who once made a topic amongst netizens and is being hailed ‘Korea’s Vanessa Mae’ after being spotted on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’, made an appearance on SBS StarKing on 15th August.

C Kang Ho Dong said, “Even though she is a good performance, she is more known for her charisma display during her performance, receiving high points from the judges.”

Son SooKyeong also said, “Even though I want to receive acknowledge (for my talents) through performing in England, but I really most wanted to perform in my native country’s stage on Star King. My parents have taught me from young that it is alright not being able to speak English well, but it is an embarrassment not being able to speak Korean well.”

She doesn't quite have the flare that Vanessa Mae does, nor the stage charisma, but I guess that comes with constant practice and performances. I think the main issue was that her "stage" movements and playing felt slightly disjointed.

Her performance purely musically is a notch above average. I did notice a few squeaked-by notes and some off-key but it would be unnoticeable to those not musically trained.

I didn't think the StarKing segment did her enough justice with Mong & Boom making a fool of themselves for more than half the time allotted, and the WIND IN HAIR is absolutely unnecessary (unless as they said it's a shampoo commercial lmao)

On a final note, I don't think she's that musically inspiring (lol) but then I grew up watching Itzhak Perlman & Gil Shaham and the only electric violinist I know IS Vanessa Mae. I guess we Koreans like to see our musicians make some stride overseas, and she's really cute! Would like to feed her something, though.

Is it just me or does anyone else get the impression she's seen Henry play storm recently. Cause she moved around a lot in the Star King version of the performance and I almost got the feeling she'd be doing the same epic movements as Henry if she wasn't in a tiny skirt and killer heels...either way, she's totally awesome.
