Ever since the first promos for this project were released, I've been shocked that there's like legit effort put into this whole thing. And as more stuff continued to be released, it showed that they actually spent money and effort in planning this whole thing. And i began to question why, then i realized this is the first project that showcases woollim and sm's merger. And if it fails, it can reflect badly on the business move, which is probably why i think they've invested in this unit. Thoguh lbr, they dont really need to prove anything to the public about the merger being a good idea or whatever, it's done. Fans cant do anything. but hey in kpop image is everything i guess.
That aside, im really happy for my fellow 91ers. They get to do what they love to do with solid backing from their companies.
ive been wondering the same, bc this doesnt seem like a very profitable subunit anyway. key is probably the least popular shinee member and woohyun is there around the middle in infinite.
i still think it was their own idea (probably key's) and that they thought i'd be a cute idea and decided to humour them,but i dont think sm or woollim are taking this very seriously so im honestly surprised by the support.
Iirc In an interview, woohyun said he came to his ceo with the idea saying he wanted to do a unit with key and the ceo liked it and had more ideas. Im surprised how supportive and how much investment is out into this when the idea itself came from the boys and like u said, doesnt seem like a profitable venture anyway. Which is why i think, it probably has more to do with ~proving the merging thing works~. Rather than profit, it's probably more about showing the public that the woollim/sm merger is solid and both companies can coexist and produce something good.
