I was SOBBING basically throughout the entirety of the second episode. Lee Boyoung...Just wow...
I was initially concerned that this drama was taking on too much - There are so many strands of storylines that we were hearing about and some of those strands are very delicate ones. But so far I love the high intensity of this drama and the performances are just so excellent. Obviously I'd love to see more Sunhwa as Jenny, but really, I'm just excited to learn more about all of the characters and see how this all unravels.
It starts a little slow in episode 1 (but it was necessary in order to introduce the viewers to the characters and to set the tone for the drama) but episode 2 is crazy intense and Lee Boyoung is AMAZING in her role - you'll need a box of tissues. That's as much as I can say without spoiling it!
So I far I'm intrigued by this drama, I really want to know, how the time travel aspect will be executed in the next episode and the various strands of the story will be tied together...Lee Boyoung is AMAZING, the drama is definitely carried by her, usually I don't cry but damn she had me in tears during her breakdown in the TV studio. I also like that Kim Taewoo was given more screen time in the second episode, he lost a child as a father just like Lee Boyoung as a mother.
so far it's really great!! i've been looking forward to this one and i'm glad it didn't disappoint. the characters are really interesting and i can't wait to see how it progresses from here!!
Lee Bo-young is incredible. her scene in the tv studio in the second episode? i don't know if i've EVER felt so strongly for a drama. she's just infused with so much raw emotion, it takes my breath away. so good!!
the scene at the train platform where she was kicked, punched and refused to let go of that guy, begging for her daughter. it was damn intense. i could feel her pain. ;_____;
also the scene at the tv studio where she was speaking to the camera ;______________; then she changed her tone saying she would do anything to find the killer. shit.
i hope the pace will be like this throughout because k-drama has the tendency to be draggy nearing to the last few episodes. i'm rooting for this!
and i extremely adores yubin ever since i saw her on 'oh! my lady'.
The whole train station scene was 100x more intense than what the teasers led on and I was literally clutching the seat while watching. I was so pissed nobody was helping her out though that's probably the likely situation irl ;~; but what I do like was that she never let go, most dramas would have probably taken the easy way out and let him escape and they'll spend 1/4 of the drama tracking him only to realize he's not their guy. I'm glad they wrapped up his character in the episode.
Thourougly confused during the majority of the first ep but then DAMN THAT SECOND EP. I WAS ALREADY CRYING AND WE'RE ONLY 2 EPS IN??? Lee Bo Young is sooo incredible.
I also really like the slacker character guy though I feel like he's gonna get framed for something :(
I had to skip quite a few seconds of Lee Boyoung's breakdown in the TV studio, it was just too painful to watch ;_; Never had to do this before, it was just so intense! And that wasn't the only scene that made me feel the parents' pain almost physically myself.
So far, all the characters seem super intriguing, even up to the smallest roles, like the disabled boy Baro's playing so amazingly. Or the guy called Ki Dong Chan whose scenes are a nice change from all the super tight kidnapping drama. And his brother, the imprisoned murderer (?) is so damn creepy, omg.
There was some unconvincing writing here and there, like nobody coming to Lee Boyoung's side in the studio, letting her suffer in front of the camera all on her own without calling off the show. Absolutely nobody stepping in during that train station scene, not even security. Or the kidnapper demanding from the mother to escape the police observation and expecting the police to just back off the case, after calling in to a live TV show revealing himself to be the kidnapper? Um, no. But the overwhelming majority of the story so far was a lot better executed and had me biting my nails (or drying my eyes, alternatively).
This drama feels quite cinematic so far with its fine balance of drama and action and a tiny dose of comedy. I hope it won't disappoint in the long run. I really can't wait for next week to see which route this drama is taking.
I'm repeating but the first episode was a bit slow for me, however by the end and onto the second episode I was more into it. I think it broke my heart when Baro's character was in denial about Saet Byul's passing.
Also, I agree with whomever mentioned they liked the slacker guy. I like him, too and I'm hoping there's more of his character.
I am still not okay with them getting us to like this girl when we all knew from the start she was going to die. Why would you do this to us? Haven't watched ep.2 yet. I don't wanna, it's gonna make me cry.
The one thing I didn't like in ep 1 was how Seat Byul never seemed to explain the situations with Baro's character to her mom. Idk maybe cause she was angry/scared of getting in trouble but still. Say something GIRL!
In the middle of eps 2 rn, and it's pulled me in. Not sure how I'm going to feel about the whole time slip part. But I love scifi so bring it I guess.
I kept catching myself during the first eps, trying not to get attached to Saet Byul, but the little actress who plays her is so cute, and her character is very lovable (how can I not love a kid who's obsessed with No Min Woo?...or wtf did they call him in this? Snake or something). Knowing she was going to die made the first eps very uncomfortable for me.
SMH at the ppl in the subway just standing around watching while that asshole stomped and kicked Boyoung. And I really freaking hope that it was for the sake of the drama and not how things would actually go down, when the media released the shoe and bag report linking it to Saet Byul before the police informed the family.
I will definitely keep watching this one. (And will probably be checking out Lee Boyoung's other stuff. Liked her in ICHYV, but she's really grabbed my attn now. That scene where she pleads for her daughters life, ugh ;______;)
Finally saw episode 2 so I can comment now. This is good television. The comedic element with the PI seems out of place at times but the actor is likable so it still works for me, Lee Boyoung is tremendous - not as good as the mother in The Killing (the original) but she is still tremendous - however the husband, to me, gave the most interesting performance.
Some things felt rushed, particularly the husband's last ditch blaming. I thought it was right that he felt that way but it needed to be built up to that point. It just happened.
I've only watched episode 1 so far, and I like it. I didn't mind the slow pacing at all as it is necessary to introduce the characters and how they met for the first time.
I can't wait to watch episode 2, judging from the comments here I'm in for something intense and heart-breaking.
