Jeon Ji Hyun as Cheon Song Yi
Chun Song Yi is a famous actress who is notorious for her stunning looks and stupidly silly social media updates. She’s at the top of her game and is currently filming a new drama. While stubborn and opinionated, Song Yi is also troubled by the loneliness and isolation that comes with being a top star. When the media gets wind that she hasn’t been attending her graduate school classes, she is forced by her agency to attend on a regular basis. As fate would have it, her professor turns out to be none other than Min Joon, the same Min Joon who also happens to be her new nextdoor neighbor! Ready or not, her fate is already entwined with the stoic alien.


Kim Soo Hyun as Do Min Joon
Do Min Joon is an alien who landed on Earth during the early 1600s. He has lived more than 400 years as a human and prefers to keep his distance from other people. Retaining the same handsome, young appearance since his landing comes with a whole range of difficulties. Every 10 years Min Jin changes his identity in order to avoid suspicion. Not only that, but he also has senses 7x more acute than humans and has the power to stop time and even sometimes see into the future. His vast range of experiences and constant loneliness has instilled in him a sense of detachment and pessimism. According to him, there’s no point for him to be involved with people. Good thing he’ll be returning to his home planet in three months!


Park Hae Jin as Lee Hee Kyung
Lee Hee Kyung is the youngest son of a conglomerate. He is head-over-heels smitten with Song Yi and has been since their middle school days. He doesn’t have much of an interest in the family business and would much rather chase after his love. He’s proposed to Song Yi on multiple occasions, but they have thus far all failed. Don’t worry, this hasn’t stopped him from trying again and again.


Yoo In Na as Yoo Se Mi
Yoo Se Mi plays the second lead both in dramas and in her own life. She and Song Yi grew up together and both decided to pursue acting careers. Worse yet, she is in love with her friend Lee Hee Kyung, but he already loves Song Yi.  Se Mi just can’t catch a break.

I'm so glad Hee Kyung was the one to deal with evil hyung, I'm glad the scenarist chose him as the hero of this "story", alien oppa helped but Hee Kyung was the one who had to deal with the aftermath and it makes much more sense than the alternative

The blackhole, loop thingie makes no actual sense (just make him come out through a White hole already) but who cares, alien oppa gets to comeback and make babies

OMG THIS SHOW. Indeed, what am I going to do without it?

I'm quite happy with how it ended - everyone's happy, or at least on the way to finding happiness.

I'm grateful to this show for making me see how amazing Kim Soo Hyun is, as well as introducing me to Ahn Jae Hyun (that ET touch and hug will forever be adorable).

I really like the ending. I know some people didn't but I wouldn't like the everything is happy, Mr. Alien is human now, 100 babies ending. And I probably couldn't deal with a sad ending and them never seeing each other.

I kinda side-eyed the wormhole explanation, but I'm a sci-fi fan and sometimes science doesn't make sense at all! Aluminum is the best protection against radiation you can have, right Star Trek!

I'm sad for Hwi Kyung though. I wanted him to move on like Se Mi did and not pine after SongYi. :( Though in my dreams it ended in an OT3, mwaha, so a happy ending for Hwi Kyung as well? At least in my dreams.

I'm glad everything didn't go back for Se Mi and Song Yi. On another note, I totally want Yoo In Na to get a main role.

don't trust the TnM ratings though, they've been caught manipulating their ratings once and their credentials fell to the ground. the ones people usually got with is nielson and i think the heirs and other popular kdrams last year reached above 30% last year.

i think i might just be the only one here, but the ending was so disappointing. It felt draggy. They could have shown us a glimpse of Do Min Joon's planet or something. And Hee Kyung?! Why isn't there anything much on him in the final two episodes? I don't like the thought of him lingering over Song Yi after so many years still.

What i am happy about is Se Mi. I love that she has finally dropped the act and showed her true self. She was still bitchy to Song Yi, but she also showed her genuine soft side as well. And the red carpet kiss?! I experienced so much FEEL!

Idk, I kept going "Whaaaat??" throughout the episode. At one point I was emotionally detached from it which has never happened before with previous episodes. Maybe I expected too much from the finale since the drama was solid for 20 episodes. DMJ turning human would have made a better wrap-up (since he had 400 years to adapt to Earth and humans) instead of going all wormhole and Time Traveler's Wife. Overall, YWCFTS was one of the best dramas I've watched. I just feel that it could have been resolved better.

I used up all my tears those last two episodes. I could barely read the subtitles through my bawling tbh.

The wormhole thing was the upmost in ridiculous and the show starts off with the most ridiculous story-line. Didn't like it at all because it just brings up soooooooo many questions though. Does he still pass out when they kiss? Is he aging? Can they even do the dirty tango to create alien babies or is that way too much fluid exchange? I'm so concerned about these things guys.

Anyway, alien oppa and Song Yi continue to be flaw free. Nearly fell out of my chair during the red carpet kiss. *3 snaps in a z formation* Get it hunty!

I honestly didnt think the wormhole explanation is ridicules. Yeah, he didnt go back to his planet. From the drama, it is understood that he didnt managed to go back to his planet and just disappear into the thin air like he was saying in the beginning that he might vanish or die if he didnt go back. It turned out he will be suck into the wormhole if he stayed on earth. So, the spaceship coming is just part of the routine that his planet always do in every 400 years but he didnt managed to get into the spaceship and return to his planet.

I think apart from his appearing and disappearing from time to time, everything remains the same. He is still an alien who does not age and pass out eveytime he kiss. So I guess if they wanted babies they need to do it not the in the naturally way haha! But it was a creative and good ending and not too ridicules to believe in my opinion. Him turning to human will be even more ridicules since it is not possible.

I love the ending though the wormhole thing is indeed meh. It's not the perfect happy ending many wish for but it's not sad either. It's simply sweet. Plus, it's more convincing than all the other endings everyone anticipated, lbr. I like that it leaves some questions unanswered because I like having some space for imagination sometimes.

I think the core message is to cherish the time we have with our loved ones and not take them for granted. You know, spend 1 week like it's 7 years.

All in all, it's definitely one of my favourite dramas now. I love the ET references, Songyi's drunk scene (though everything about her is awesome), and Minjoon's farewell scene with Lawyer Jang the most. Other favourite scenes:
the times Minjoon stopped time to give her a kiss after pushing her away and to delete his message when she was hospitalised,
all of Minjoon's drunk scenes (such a cute drunk),
Minjoon's last words to Songyi before disappearing at the balcony and Songyi turned away so he wouldn't see her crying, and....
when Songyi tried to lure him out to the mountain to see his superpowers and he was all "Wtf is wrong with her," in the epilogue.

I have mixed feelings about those last, like, 5 minutes of the final. It was all going great. I was laughing. I was swooning. I was sobbing. I was loving it. Then the whole “I was stuck trying to get out of a wormhole that I keep getting randomly sucked back into for three years” bit kinda left me all lol wut.



I like that it made sense to why people kept seeing him appearing, but IDKKKKK. I was really hoping that asteroid Little Bro discovered had something to do with him coming back to earth from his own planet. I honestly don’t really like the Time Traveler’s Wife vibes I got with him leaving randomly and her not knowing when it’ll happen and when he’ll come back. Yeah, I know other people have liked the similarities from The Time Traveler’s Wife, but I just really dislike that story in general. Idk. Overall I loved the drama, it’s just… those last 5 minutes. I don’t hate them (because at least we got a happy ending) I just maybe need to re-watch it or something.

Seriously though. So he didn’t make it back to his own planet? He just disappeared into some random “wormhole” vortex thing? I got so confused. Especially since the beginning showed his people coming back to earth and the spaceships and stuff. Then *poof* he disappeared from the balcony and was in that field dissolving away. IDGI.
Also who was that guy Se Mi was at the end of the show at the awards ceremony? That wasn’t Hwi Kyung right?

despite the eh ending, this drama is the first drama in a very long time that I have been impressed with. You should just watch it for Jun Ji Hyun/Cheon Song Yi alone - she is the most flawless, strong fictional heroine I have ever known. (rhyming was unintentional..)

the ending came out of nowhere and convinced me that this writer who has supposedly planned this drama for the past ten years had no clue what she was writing once she changed the plot midway.
like, wormhole is a great idea, it just popped up though without any background information, and actually pretty much rendered his 400 years on earth. derp.

meh, it was a disappointing drama overall and the only saving grace was the cinematographer (the filming itself was very well done) and the actors.

Unlike others, I actually like the ending -- its happy but bittersweet at the same time. As I have seen a lot of kdramas and their disappointing endings, I know I really cannot have high hope to have an ending of my imagination so I just settled to the next best thing that the writer could offer. IDK why people are sad or confuse with the wormhole explanation. He didnt go back to his planet but just cease to exist like he was saying in the earlier episode that he might disappear or die if he didnt go back. So, it just turned out that he stuck to the wormhole of the result of him staying on earth (he originally wanted to go back but it was too late since he just disappear into thin air before he managed to go to his spaceship).

I'm predicting him to go back to his home planet and come back 5/10 years after that but the writer opt for a better ending (not like I predicted, yay!) with the added new twist of him disappearing and appearing from time to time. It is sad actually thinking about it since he could be gone any moment but it actually made their relationship stronger and she actually in heaven everytime he appear in front of her again and again. It is a really good ending and creative -- better than what I predicted and the writer made it bitter-sweet which in my opinion made the ending even more awesome. I tear up at the ending scene thinking how sad she must be feeling eveytime he disappear. :'(''''

The writer actually focus on the two of them in the last few episodes instead of the evil hyung. Other kdramas usually spending the last few episodes solving whatever the main issue of the drama but this drama focus on the chemistry and the relationship between the two of the leads -- they know that's the main point why the drama received high ratings so they focus on the best selling aspect of the drama. It was are really nice and refreshing change.

I'm sad since it will probably take Soohyun another 1 or 2 years to start acting in dramas again so I hope he will be more active this year! It was a really good drama overall. I tend to hate k-dramas' romcom in general but I actually really love this one.

BTW OP, you should check Prime Minister & I since that drama is really good too. Lee Bumsoo and Yoona has a really amazing chemistry as well. ^^; Can't believe that I got to watch a good k-rom back to back -- it seemed like it is going to be a good year for kdramas! :DD

the wormhole blackhole thing was a really unsatisfying end... but I'm just glad it's a happy ending. Also, just further confirmed the fact I hate extensions bc the pacing in ep 20 was slow and terrible.

Agree agree. The meaning of the Comet Deep South, meteor shower, waiting for 400 years, and the UFO made no connection with the wormhole.

Kinda wished that everyone saw him coming back. Would love to see Yoon Jae's reaction XD

So I decided to watch this drama. I looked at the first episode, skipped to episode 7, then watched from 14 till the end. And if this is, or was, a great drama, then I must be horribly biased. Surely there has never been a drama like this, there was nary a plot twist in it. Really surprised by the love for this show. Of the limited few I have seen it's nowhere near any of them.

umm Big 2.0 anyone? did not care for the ending at all, what a giant waste of the great cast. SO MANY QNS UNANSWERED!

-so is he still an alien in terms of him never dying/growing weak everytime they french the hell out of each other
-wormhole, really? hello deus ex machina! lol @ the time and money that went into the cg of the spaceship only to have him disappear through a freaking wormhole.
-hated the fact that they didn't give hwikyung a proper ending. like even that second lead in reply me 1994 got a girl in the end, we're supposed to accept that he just pines for her till the day he dies?!
-why was jaekyung freaked at seeing minjoon in jail? he knows what minjoon is and what he is capable of so..... why suddenly horrified?

etc etc etc. i generally get annoyed at finales that only come together in the last 15 mins of the episode, especially given the 1 episode extension! ridiculous. that being said, i will miss seeing Jun Ji-hyun and Kim Soo-hyun, they really had great chemistry. thank god for Emergency Couple!
