In light of Sandara Park’s arrival in the country, Ruffa and Ai staged a reunion episode for the top five contestants of the first season of the hit reality star search Star Circle Quest. The taping took place yesterday at around 2pm and it will be aired soon. The reunion included runners-up Sandara Park, Melissa Ricks, Roxanne Guinoo, and Joross Gamboa. Noticeably absent is the search’s Grand Questor, Hero Angeles. It can be remembered that Hero had a misunderstanding with his then loveteam Sandara Park and mother network, ABS-CBN. Sandara, on the other hand, hand found a new career in Korea as part of the girl group 2ne1. She is now popularly known as Dara.

as if YG isn't doing the same thing with her now? with the terrible styling and mediocre, faux-hip hop music... it's the same thing, different day (or should i say country). the old sandara seemed much more genuine.

I guess I was one of the few ones who didn't really feel fully annoyed by Sandara during her popularity back then. Like I know that talent is very important in the industry but I kind of developed a belief that the work of an entertainer doesn't simply rely on that. Like I completely love Jpop and Kpop but I think that the Filipino entertainment scene has a lot to offer, not to mention shows that are actually worth watching.

She had always been a pretty decent singer but people seem to suffer some kind of hindsight bias to acknowledge that because of the krung-krung image. I'd say if YG taught her something, it was how to carry herself better. But I won't really call the old her Filipinos have known as someone who's completely inferior. I am sure you know all her scandals back then (her father swindling people, the one with Hero, her alleged unprofessionalism, being the breadwinner, bouts with her decreasing popularity). I believe it was all these which made her to the strong person she is now. The fact that the old her was very ready to risk herself to be humiliated for the joy of the audience is quite commendable. Adjusting to a new culture and language ain't that easy either.

I'm so incoherent so I'll stop. XD
