With former H.O.T member Tony’s gambling issues, KBS decided to ban all H.O.T songs from playing on its station for the time being.

On February 14, KBS announced that Tony has been banned from appearing on KBS programs due to his involvement in a recent gambling issue, where he illegally bet 400 million won on English Professional Soccer Games.

With this new ban, any video or voice files of the singer will not be played on the station, which includes all H.O.T songs since the group debuted in 1996.

“It’s not just H.O.T, but also the songs of Tak Jae Hoon and Roora, which Ko Young Wook was part of,” explained KBS.

KBS added that after the court verdict on the gambling case, the station maybe reconsider its decision.

Um excuse you KBS. Did you ban Shinhwa too? What is this fuckery? You ban Tony's solo stuff, not H.O.T's discography. I mean, it's not like they're doing group activities right now, but dang how you gonna block their tributes like that? I still care T_T

Wow. Smh at priorities though.
Isnt there a comedian who's a variety regular who killed someone in the past? Hit and run then tried to bury the victim?
Im swear there are a bunch who've done worse stuff but are roaming around freely. Whyyyyy.
I'll never get it.

Kinda unfair to the other H.O.T members. Its not like Tony's fuckery should fall back on them

This seems excessive and will be probably hurting more other people than Tony who were more involved in production of those songs.

i'm curious if there are two sets of laws.
one for celebs and one for an ordinary citizen who break the same law. it is obvious that this wouldn't affect an ordinary citizen who does not need to appear on the tele to promote themselves. would the ordinary joe go to jail instead of paying a fine like the celebs did? (i'm rambling here because i'm super curious how this is fair across the board - and i know that usually most justice systems aren't fair, only has the appearance of trying to hold up that facade.)

i just have so many more random questions about this...especially since they nab people for gambling outside of the country. it would be easier for a normal person to hide their gambling outside of the country than i suppose a celeb?

i don't really understand why gambling is prohibited in korea/why it incites such a harsh response tbh

The weirdest thing I've hear, I think it was on arirang radio, is that some believe that Koreans have a higher probability of developing a gambling addiction than others

I'm not sure if this is right, but I remember reading somewhere that it's particularly banned outside of Korea because if Korean people are gambling outside of Korea, their money is leaving Korea. Which also explains why there are casinos in Korea where only foreigners can gamble...
