Girl’s Generation & 2NE1 Come Back at the Same Time… A Girl Group War

Girl group Girl’s Generation and 2NE1 will have a fierce competition.

On the 13 this month, YG Entertainment’s head producer Yang Hyun Suk announced 2NE1’s comeback on the company’s official blog YG LIFE, saying, “2NE1 will release their second album ‘CRUSH” at midnight on the 24.”

It has been about three and a half years since 2NE1 released their first regular album “To Anyone” in September, 2010. As 2NE1 has lived up to high expectations for their music by releasing quality single albums so far, fans are paying keen attention to the new album that 2NE1 will disclose after a long break.

Their comeback will be made at the same time with that of Girl’s Generation, so music fans will be able to enjoy the music of Korea’s two major girl groups simultaneously. Before YG’s announcement, SM Entertainment announced that the fourth mini album of Girl’s Generation titled “Mr.Mr” will be released on the 24.

In fact, it is known that Girl’s Generation will release the music on the 19 and begin performance for the new song on the 20, by appearing in TV.

SHINee’s Jong Hyun has recently drawn music fans’ attention by saying, “I heard the guide song for the new song of Girl’s Generation. It was really nice and easy to sing along. You will be able to see a new appeal of Girl’s Generation”, on the stage of “SM The Ballad Vol. 2 Joint Recital”, which was held on the 12.

So, now, Korea’s two major girl groups will be engaged in a face-to-face competition. Music fans are paying keen attention to such a competition between Korea’s two leading girl groups.

Meanwhile, 2NE1’s new album “CRUSH” means “being captivated by somebody”. 2NE1’s new album contains total 10 songs including a Korean version of one of 2NE1’s existing songs that have been released in Japan.

Girl’s Generation’s new song “Mr.Mr.” is a dance music with R&B sound, which was created by “The Underdogs”, a producing team who has worked with world-class pop stars including Beyonce and Justin Timberlake.

I don't think people will stereotype 2NE1 or SNSD though lol. In general it's just fans who take it too seriously but most people I know who are general kpop fans will love both when they come back. If anything it's the fans who are making the girls look "catty" but I don't think the management or the girl groups themselves are really responsible for that haha.
