Cassiopeia puts pressure on SMEnt with boycott

Idol group Dong Bang Shin Ki’s 800K strong fanclub Cassiopeia has planned to show their support for their idols through their united act.

A fanpage ‘DongNaeBangNae’ recently put up a notice to call out to fans to boycott SM Entertainment by not buying products from SM Entertainment on 12th August.

Recently, with the lawsuit between SM Ent and Dong Bang Shin Ki member Xiah JunSu, Micky YooChun and Hero JaeJoong over contract problems, SMTown Live 09 concert to take place on 16th August was postponed indefinitely.

After reading the full article, something did stick out, though.
That whole thing about them releasing the Summer SMTown '09 album.

I half expected SM to delay that as well. Maybe they'll eventually cancel the concert and are using the album to compensate for it?

As wrong as I think the treatment of these artists is (physically as well as financially) I doubt this is gonna do anything..their dedication is nice, though.

ugh, yes. whether it be in Korea or other countries, SM really needs to control when their concerts start and end, and make sure they give what they promise. :/

the problem is that it will mostly only make a statement on behalf of just dbsk. the other artists don't necessarily have the same security that dbsk has. depending on how long this boycott lasts, it would hurt sme artists more than help them. snsd's biggest pride right now is that they sell way, way more than most girl groups and even most boy bands; if sales of their second full-length album are low because of this boycott, then it harms their reputation. zhang liyin and csjh already have underwhelming sales; if a boycott were to mess up their chances at a comeback, that would really suck for them. shinee sell moderately well, but they still don't have nearly high enough sales to have any sense of security in something like this.

i mean, it's an okay idea, and it's no secret that i like the idea of smtown unity, but i don't think it would be beneficial to involve other artists and i hope their respective fanclubs see that.

idgi, if they cut off the bulk of SM's money supply then what will happen to the artistes we so love? Of couse I hope it hits SM right where it hurts, but how effective is this going to be anyway?

and seeing that I have already preordered aadbsk 3 and all...ngl when I ordered it I was cringing about SM earning more of my buck but hoping against hope that a little of it goes to the boys...
