GOT7 in Grazia magazine February 2 issue

Debut on January 15 through a showcase. So they're definitely rookies. Even if we consider how much anticipation there has been built up by JYP, their popularity is like a bomb. Already their photos and profiles are blowing up on internet searches, and even proof shots of lunchboxes that GOT7's fans have sent to them have been uploaded. After GOT7's filming, the staff felt the generational gap between them and the idols after offering some industry tips. But no matter what, these 7 boys are warm and work hard! Even the stylists manually taped accessories onto their fingers like they didn't even do for Big Bang, and of course the editors matched well with both eyes of each member and couldn't help but receive energy from their enthusiasm even while working overtime. Even in front of the broadcast camera that follows their every move, GOT7's energy as they played excitedly and talked and danced was infectiously strong. They not only appeal to elementary-middle-high schoolers, but they even make noona fans have a motherly smile.

"I'm going to live with Park Jinyoung PD-nim's advice, 'If you make enough money to eat and live, that's enough,' in my heart. To me, that is dance. When I dance, I'm the only person that exists. When the music comes out I have to move my body, to the point that my friends have to tell me to sit still. Nowadays I can't see those friends often which is regretful, but as long as I can dance, no matter what everything will be okay." -- Yugyeom

"Unique performance like martial arts and tricking is GOT7's forte. There is nothing about us that's lacking compared to other teams, and there are talents that only we can show. Each member also has a unique color. Even saying this myself, I also like jazz, even though that's not very hip-hop like." -- Jr

"If you think like 'again?!' then it becomes worrisome." -- BamBam

"I don't even know how many days it's been that we've just been following schedule. The extent to which we're busy is something that's been given to us, so of course I'm thankful. But because I have experience as an artist and because I'm the leader, I know even better than the dongsaengs what we have to be careful of and what we have to do well. I'm trying not to forget those things and lead our team well." -- JB

"I want to do stand at the top, produce, and rap with lyrics that are written with sincerity. Now too, I'm always making my own compositions. They didn't make it onto this album, but sometime they'll make it." -- Jackson

  • Youngjae

_19years old, special skill is singing

The shortest trainee period: I passed the auditions for JYP while I was attending practical music hagwon in Mokpo. In Seoul I trained for one month and then was added to a project group of male trainees. That way I was able to debut after only training for 7 months. It was lucky!

Special training in 'half air, half sound': Park Jinyoung PD-nim's 'half air, half sound' is expressed like a joke, but actually it's the basics when you sing. No matter what kind of song it is, it has to come out with your breathing.

Park Jinyoung's praise: "Your high notes are piercing. It's refreshing."

If you sing a solo song: A song like Javier's "A Drop in the Ocean."

Dream of being a music therapist: I wanted to help people heal their pain through music and help people express their emotions. Now I hope that through being a singer, my music can help give people strength.

A man who plays piano: I first learned dance at JYP. I'm a meek man who plays piano by myself. I was originally really embarrassed to dance by myself in front of people, but the members helped me a lot so I've developed some confidence.

  • Mark

_22 years old, special skill is martial arts tricking

Born in LA, a youth spent in Paraguay and Brazil before going back to LA: When I was young I lived in many different countries, so I was able to adapt quickly to Korean culture.

Street casting: I didn't want to be a singer from the beginning. I was just an ordinary student but I was cast by a representative from JYP while on the street. Because I had never tried singing or dancing before that, I suffered a little for those 3 and a half years.

Injuries caused by martial arts tricking: The ligaments often tear. We have that move where I flip over Jackson's back, but there have been times when I messed it up and ended up falling instead. Thanks to that I was able to rest for a month. (laugh)

The skill that you've 'GOT IT' like the album title: Because I started rather late compared to my friends who practiced since they were young, my skills are lacking. It's going to be a while before I can be called an 'artist.'

Style role model: I have a lot of interest in fashion, so there have been times when I styled myself after Kanye West.

The member in Foreign Line (Mark, Jackson, BamBam) who is most Korean style: It's me. No matter what culture it is, I adapt quickly. Jackson can't eat spicy food, but me and BamBam really like it.

  • Jr.

_21 years old, special skill is dance

Debut through <Dream High 2>: I acted with JB in <Dream High 2>. As an actor you live as another person for 3 months, but as a singer you pour out your energy onstage for 3 minutes an 30 seconds. That's the difference between long-term and short-term focus. I think it's all the same art.

Because I studied acting: Because I learned acting after JJ Project promotions were over, the expression of my singing and dancing has become wider, and it's a sphere that requires imagination so I even developed a tendency to read a lot of books.

The book I'm reading lately: Miyabe Miyuki's "All She Was Worth," and Paulo Coelho's "The Alchemist" and "11 Minutes."

Movie mania: Lately, I was really amazed by Kim Yoonseok in Hwayi and Ha Jeongwoo sunbaenim in The Terror, Live. I could stay up all night talking about movies.

The skill that you've 'GOT IT' like the album title: I have a lot of sensitivity, and my concentration is severely strong.

An artist that influences you: My vocal teacher told me to listen to a lot of instrumental music, so I started listening to Keith Jarrett and I really like him. I also receive a lot of influence from books and movies.

A feeling of wanting to return to a common youth: You can't catch two rabbits. I'm going to work hard so I won't regret the one I gave up.

  • BamBam

_18 years old, special skill is dance

Representative of Thailand along with Nichkhun: My mom was a fan of the singer Rain. Because I went to see concerts with her, I began to dream of being a singer. Even though I'm Thai, because I wanted to debut in Korea I participated in the JYP World Tour Audition. Eventually I think the fact that I started dancing and was able to do activities with JYP is all thanks to Rain sunbaenim.

Meeting with Rain: We met at our first broadcast, so I was incredibly excited. If we meet again I'm going to tell him that it's all thanks to sunbaenim that I dance.

Farewell to family at 18 years old: Because I started training in 2010, it's been 4 years that I've spent without seeing my mom. I'm enduring it with the heart of someone who wants to become a singer like Rain sunbaenim.

Your skill that you've 'GOT IT' like your album title: I do fanservice well. I really enjoy playing and talking with our fans. And I have a baby face!

My target: At some point, I want to try doing individual activities like Shinhwa or Big Bang sunbaenims. Could it be greed for a Korean-style hip hop album like Gaeko or G-Dragon sunbaenim?

  • Yugyeom

_18 years old, special skill is street dance

The team's magnae: Me and BamBam are the magnaes in our team. I'm a sophomore in high school right now, and even though it's regretful that I can't go to school often, because I've dreamed for the last 3 years of being a trainee, this much is acceptable.

A childhood full of dancing: When I was in elementary school, every lunchtime I would go dance. At the encouragement of those around me who told me to be a singer, I started attending dance hagwon in earnest when I entered middle school. That's how I was able to stand in this place today.

Your talent that you've 'GOT IT' like the album title: JB hyung sometimes tells me I'm a pure crystal.

The cell phone that you willingly gave up: Don't believe the image of me that comes out on TV. You know the word 'heol'*? It's not the truth. Among our friends there has been a lot of support for me through KakaoTalk, but in order to focus on our activities I didn't use my cell phone. Because I eliminated mine, the other members are also returning theirs (laugh).

The member that grabs your spirits: There isn't even one member who's scary. Leader Jaebum hyung has charisma. His thoughts are much deeper than his age, so he's the heart of GOT7.

  • JB

_21 years old, leader, special skill is b-boy

A leader who is like a real hyung: When we were promoting as JJ Project, since there were only two of us we could just do well between ourselves, but since there are 7 members now the burden is bigger. Of course it's my duty to help my dongsaengs do as well as they can. I take care of them a lot like a real hyung, I take responsibility when problems arise, and when they make mistakes I scold them.

Major is film: I'm going to be a 2nd year film student at Geonkuk University. I originally like all genres of music. I also want to try other things like film, photography, painting, and fashion. Even Jr. has developed reading habits based on my recommended books.

The driving force behind practice time: Because the target of debut was certain, my trainee period wasn't very difficult. If I dance I'm excited, if I sing a variety of emotions come up in the depths of my chest. I really like this, so I danced and sang like crazy for those four years. Originally even if I danced I didn't have any interest in singing, but at JYP I studied about the history of music, so I could feel its charm. Because I know some and can sing, it's really fun.

An artist I like: D'Angelo, Musiq Soulchild, Ray Charles, Prince, etc. I'm always looking for soul music to listen to.

  • Jackson

_21 years old, special skill is dance, rapping, beat box

Hong Kong's national fencing team: I was born into an athletic family where my father is a fencer and my mother is a gymnast. So naturally, since I was 10 years old I became a fencer, and I really liked it and dreamed of being an Olympic gold medalist. Then at school I started making music and rapping with my crew, so I began to dream of being a rapper. Could it be fate? In December 2010 I was street-casted into JYP. I wouldn't get an opportunity like this again so I became dedicated to the dream of being a singer.

Korean learned through dramas: I watched a lot of Korean dramas and movies/variety, and in particular I'm a fan of <Rooftop Prince> and <Dream High 1>. My Korean friends at school in Hong Kong also helped me, so now I can understand Korean to a tolerable level.

The strongest member who is like the 'jappeok*' from GIRLS x3's lyrics: Um... I think I'll be pulled back and forth. Isn't confidence the most important thing in life?

An artist I like: I listen to Snoop Dogg's albums a lot. These days it seems like all that comes out in hip hop is bragging about money and name brand items, so I don't care for it much. The hip hop of previous generations is the real deal.

in particular I'm a fan of Rooftop Prince and Dream High 1.

lmao Jackson, what a subtle shade xd he just had to emphasize that he likes only the first version of Dream High and not the second (where his fellow members acted) ^^

My babies T_____T I think the part about JB being old for his years (except the Romantic & Idol stint--totally immature!) I think I agree because I see them all as babies except JB.. and maybe Jackson.

orz all the asterisks got left out...

MARK: * = the grammar Mark used here means "thanks to that" in a positive sense, like "it was all thanks to that injury that I was blessed enough to rest for a month" lmao

JR: * = Originally a Chinese phrase, "If you chase two rabbits at once, both will escape." It basically means the equivalent of the English "you can't have your cake and eat it too"--sometimes you have to give up one thing in order to have something you want even more.

JACKSON: * = 자뻑/jappeok is like a person who has a lot of confidence and brags about their own accomplishments & abilities

"Even the stylists manually taped accessories onto their fingers like they didn't even do for Big Bang"

Why do they have to tape the accessories on...? And the sentence infers it's a normal thing. All I can think of is rings too big, but that seems strange.

I can't get past this sentence. XD

I would guess for it to stay in place? I know in Hollywood when a guy is wearing a suit, they tape in the handkerchiefs on the man's breast pocket so that it can stay in place.
