EXO To Make Their Japanese Debut?????

There are also rumors that EXO will hold solo performances in Japan this April 12th and 13th.

ETA: SM has now confirmed that EXO will have 4 concert / showcases schedules within April 12 & 13 in Japan. A total of 70,000 fans are expected to attend.

Maybe they'll be more like Super Junior who just randomly releases Japanese packaging of their albums with occasional Japanese versions of their songs. I doubt they'll promote like DBSK, Soshi, and SHINee though. They have China for that.

it really is just a matter of time. SM knows they are a cash cow and a future cash cow. in Japan they can bring in even more. i don't know if they will do a full debut right away...probably more like SJ had for a while where they do release stuff, do fan meets, small shows, build the brand of Exo without officially debuting.

OK to everyone who is saying China first..... right now, there is exponentially more money to be made in Japan than in China. Japan has better established systems for this kind of thing and knowing what we know about the Japanese EXO fanbase (which is apparently huge), SM is obviously trying to take advantage of that.

SHINee had their first solo concert thing in Japan as well, so this isn't unheard of. I happy that they're obviously gonna make BANK for these two days :)

LOL it's just gonna be all twelve if it's "EXO-J" is heading to the Japanese market. It's a meet and greet but I wouldn't be shocked if SME and Avex did announce they would go to Japan.

They have a decent size fanbase for Japanese K-pop fans (they did sell 60K for XOXO+Growl there). It definitely feels like SME are testing the waters there since Shinee's first concert was in Japan as well.

Plus lots of K-fans/C-fans/I-fans could be purchasing these tickets so it's not gonna be mutually exclusive to J-fans.

Whatever I'm super happy because I live here and I am going to try to go see them perform. They're already popular here without a Japanese debut, so if they actually started promoting here... I think they'd do really well for themselves. I like the Japanese remakes usually, too, so if they do translate into Japanese, then fine by me! I hope they do amazingly.

Considering how most of EXO cannot speak Mandarin beyond, "Hi my name is" after two years I wonder how bad their Japanese is.

These showcases are probably a test for touring rather than debut. And touring is easy money for the EXO babies vs actually promoting in Japan.

Even singles don't mean much because how many singles did SuJu release in Japan before their "debut" and Japanese album in 2013.

I remember that f(x) Hot Summer remake...what happened with their debut?

Aside from touring does SM even do Music Shows in Japan these days?

Anyway EXO has China and they'll be leaving a lot of money on the table if they continue to neglect it. If they are doing a solo concert in Japan it's good prep for the concerts they'll need to have in Korea and China too.

The Chinese fans spend a lot of money supporting EXO and the whole purpose of M was to break into that market and be viewed as a local act. XOXO being a million seller has a lot to do with many fans buying both versions and fan signs. If they worked with local stores to do verified EXO albums sales for fan signs in China that'd have been even more records.

EXO-M appeared on a lot of CNY shows to start the year and they have promised to be in China much more this year so I expect SM to get it together.

Knew that this would happen eventually but this is earlier than I expected.
SM is smart though concert's in Japan just rake in the money that's why SHINee are there every other month to do a show.

Won't lie I'd enjoy China promo's more since you get tv-shows and more fansite pictures (plus more Tao screen-time and I'm majorly biased there)
Japan is always a bit of a black hole as an international fan you don't get much updates while people disappear in Japan. Though I'd be down for a DVD of these Japanese shows (Is SMTOWN week going to be release soon ugh)

At the end of the day Japan is such an established market and Chinese market is new territory so it makes sense.

Side note EXO-J subunit always makes me think of that famous Chinese exo fic where like some of the memebers get killed (can't remember the name).

I think only DBSK's concert in SMTown week gets a DVD to tie up with their anniversary celebrations. I don't think the other groups will get a DVD for it.

Hmm I guess ppl are ignoring the string of "?" at the end of the title and just seeing the "EXO DEBUT IN JAPAN" part.
Whatever the case may be, I'm not one of those fans who will buy more than their Korean stuff, but I'm sure fans in Japan will be happy if this showcase concludes in them going on tour there.

Good for them, get some sleep on the plane, make that money.
