In yet another issue of netizens stirring shit up: B1A4 accused of plagiarising album concepts

If B1A4 wasn’t already in deep waters because of their sajaegi scandal, the group is now attracting netizen attention because of a post accusing them of copying SHINee and f(x)’s album concepts.

The article juxtaposed SHINee’s “Sherlock” album jacket, concept photos, and individual member snapshots with that of B1A4’s “Ignition” content material and points out that B1A4 plagiarized the “artwork, jacket, pose, style, details, and feeling” that SHINee was going for. The netizen also argues that “Sherlock” was released two months before “Ignition” and so the close-timing of both releases is not merely coincidental.

If that wasn’t enough, the post also accuses B1A4’s “In the Wind” EP concept of being a direct replica of f(x)’s “Electric Shock” mini-album as well. “In the Wind” was released in November 2012 while “Electric Shock” came out in June 2012, again making the timing ‘suspicious’

Comments on the Instiz article are discussing the topic with many agreeing that there are similarities upon “first glance,” that WM Entertainment may have actually plagiarized from SHINee and f(x), and that B1A4 must be in for some tough times because this isn’t helping their reputation.

I can't find anything on Sherlock but I know Rainbow Bus has designed albums for both Shinee and B1A4 and the same photographer worked with f(x) and B1A4 on their albums so...

Everything else I can chalk up to being a coincidence but the inside of Sherlock and Ignition look really similar. Like down to the art style, layout, and the pictures themselves.

I feel so bad for B1A4 having all these scandals while they're really starting to gain popularity.

Edit: Can people really not see the similarities?? I mean, it's definitely not plagiarism but straight up denying that they look similar is some delulu.

exactly what i was thinking. i don't know much about Ignition repackage but in my opinion In The Wind maybe similar to Fx's album style(cover photo etc) but it definitely the concept was better utilized and flow with the whole album from the comeback teaser, individual teaser, the mv, the song, the whole album, it even match the fall season tbh. while fx's, i don't think so. the photo teaser, the album cover, i feel like it don't really connect with the song and mv at all(i'm not fx fan so i might not really understand the concept of the album? this is just my personal opinion based on what i watch and hear)

tbh, a lot of the concepts from the big 3 are copied by smaller agencies. sometimes the smaller companies do it better, sometimes they look really reductive. and then sometimes all these companies work with the same people with very strong aesthetics that they're bound to get the same end results.

As other commenters have pointed out, it's from the same photographer/stylist/etc so...

I'm a bit sad and upset that all these petty "controversies" are being put against B1A4 now that they're getting popular.
