SISTAR’s Dasom talked about the intense diets that she has to go through as a member of a girl group.

Appearing in KBS 2TV’s 1 Versus 100, Dasom revealed, “Since I’m a member of a girl group, I have to diet. I watch what I eat and exercise, especially weight lifting and aerobics. No one dislikes eating. People live in order to eat, and eat in order to live,” said the SISTAR member.

“Eating good food is one of life’s pleasures so I can’t just starve myself,” added Dasom. “I diet by eating one meal a day, at around 4 pm.”

“Once I started the drama, I could monitor myself everyday through the screen, which helps me to adjust my diet. I’ve been losing weight naturally since I started filming, but if I don’t eat, I really don’t have the energy to shoot. Plus, if I don’t eat, the rest of the drama staff doesn’t eat, so I’ve been eating together with them,” confessed Dasom.

Meanwhile, the episode of 1 Versus 100 featuring Dasom will air on January 21.

Can we just institute a ban on idols talking about their diets ffs.Its sad enough that so many feel obligated to do so but they shouldnt be normalziing it for young girls and making them seem like healthy options.
Girl is deluding herself if she thinks one meal a day is provididng sufficient calories to sustain her through filimg, performances, travels out etc. Eating six small meals throughout the day would be far better.
and nto eating till 4pm is just...how are you functioning in the mornings?

I'm really curious as to whether they actually think stuff like the diets they talk about is healthy o_o Here Dasom's like 'don't worry, I'm eating one meal' as if it's not 'just starving yourself', so...where are they even coming from?

I honestly don't understand how they function.

I think they know it is not healthy but they gotta do what they gotta do to basically survive in this society. Oh the irony.

:( she probably eats through out the day (like fruit and small snacks) but that is definitely not healthy. Its weird bc the rest of the sistar girls look fit and healthy, so I wonder if they do the same thing with their diets.

I doubt the other SISTAR members 'diet' like she does. Dasom is probably least fit out of the four even though she's thin.

I'm sorry, but all these celebs promoting their unhealthy eating habits is incredibly stupid and irresponsible imo. While I don't believe that young people should idealize celebs, many do and this is not good for them to hear. She says it so matter-of-factly too ugh. She should have stopped talking after the first paragraph.

What I hate the most is their attitude as if going out on national television and saying that she loses weight by eating one meal a day should be an example for young fans who are trying to lose weight.

Can someone please hire this girl a diet specialist or something? Anyhow, someone needs to have a lecture about metabolism for all these young celebs and how you can lose weight healthily if you really even need to (I don't think she needs to!).

?????????????? please explain to me how this isn't starving yourself Dasom.
They really need to stop talking about diets. who knows, it might actually help stop normalizing all this shit

I reallllyyyy don't understand why they don't have a nutritionist. Starving yourself is just going to come back around and cause more problems than help, especially as you get older.

oh honey, that is starving yourself. the key to losing weight is eating healthier, skipping meals just makes you feel shit :/.

i shudder to think of young girls in korea reading this article and wanting to "diet" in the same way ;~;

she should be eating mini meals throughout the day. just eating once a day slows your metabolism.
but yeah they need nutritionists.

Ummm, somebody educate these girls that it's healthier/you'll lose weight more efficiently by eating multiple small meals throughout the day. Eating one large meal a day will only make you feel like shit.

i don't understand why companies can't invest enough in their artists to hire dietitians. stories like this are so sad and it's horrible that people listening take these to heart when the idols must feel miserable

Date: 2014-01-20 10:13 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] violentiak.livejournal.com
I came here to say this exact thing. At least soem of the companies have trainers for th idols, it would be a smart move to add some kind of nutrition specialist too. That would be the most effective compination to make them look the best they can while staying healty and not starving.

It's makes me especially sad that most of the times it's the girls who tell about their horrible diets. Lke the girls are supposed to be just skinny, but at the same time the public is praising the muscular bodies that some guys have. And those kind of muscles surely don't pop up if you're starving yourself.

Does anyone know what Korean netizens are commenting on this subject? I'm mainly interested in knowing if they're aware that diets like these are not healthy.. If they voiced their opinions as strongly as people on here the companies might let their idols eat a bit better...
I like Dasom and there's no need for her to diet she's already the skinniest member in Sistar, it's ok to eat bb girl!

ngl i did this at the end of high school/beginning of college and not because i wanted to ~keep in shape~, diet or to loose weight. i just really didnt have time to eat as i was very busy and just couldnt find time to do it (coursework, interviews, portfolios, assignments, exams, rehearsals etc.). in the mornings i would usually be late so i would have to run to school and therefore skip breakfast, at lunch i usually had to do other work so i would only eat when i got home. throughout the day it wasnt on my mind and i didnt really have time to think about it so i didnt really feel hunger or the need to eat. it wasnt healthy but i cant turn back time, its kind of whatever now and it also made me loose my fat/chubbiness (although its unhealthy, at least thats some kind of a plus) so i kind of understand her but then again i wish idols didnt have to resort to this to keep in shape

i mean they're already busy practicing, performing, doing individual activities etc almost 24/7. they're literally on the go all the time so 3/4 meals a day wouldnt hurt them, it would benefit them even more and if they got proper dieticians, they could be eating properly and keeping up their figure more easily than they are by doing this

From: [identity profile] gray-fairy.livejournal.com
Idk, I don't think lack of time is a problem. I've been/I still am pretty busy too but I always find the time to eat something even if it's in 5~10 minutes because otherwise I can't really function properly.

I admit I've skipped the breakfast or the dinner sometimes and I've felt really weak. I honestly don't know how they can function unless they also get stimulants.
This only-one-meal diet is not healthy at all. You need to eat 4-5 small meals during all the day to maintain healthy blood sugar levels. No wonder why so many idols have a really poor health when they reach their late 20s/early 30s :/
