G-Dragon and Taeyang Invited as Celebrity Guests to Paris Fashion Week

On January 16, multiple industry insiders confirmed Big Bang’s G-Dragon and Taeyang have been invited as celebrity guests to Paris Fashion Week. It has also been revealed they were both offered to walk down the runway. However, they declined since they are not professional models.

Paris Fashion Week is currently taking place until January 19 showcasing the 2014 Fall/Winter menswear. G-Dragon and Taeyang departed from Korea on January 15 and will be staying in Paris until January 20. They will be returning January 22 KST.

This is not the first time G-Dragon and Taeyang have attended fashion shows. Last January, G-Dragon was in charge of the menswear fashion show for the French clothing brand Mugler (yirk). Nicola Formichetti (double yirk), famous for being Lady Gaga’s stylist, designed the clothes featured in the fashion show while listening to G-Dragon’s music. Taeyang has already displayed his sense of fashion during “2014 Spring/Summer Paris Fashion Week.” (and it was a mess)

G-Dragon and Taeyang’s excursion to Paris this time around is grabbing much attention since the two best friends and trendsetters will be attending the event together. They gained much popularity as individual artists as well as members of Big Bang, and their style and fashion have significantly influenced the fashion industry (really now?).

As a result, Big Bang has been the center of YG Entertainment’s new business plan. YG Entertainment will be partnering with Cheil Industries Inc. in launching a new brand that will target the global fashion market. There are high expectations of how G-Dragon and Taeyang will set another Hallyu boom in the fashion world as leaders of YG’s fashion business.

tbh I think GD has the walk down all right, but I can think of many reasons why he'd decline. lmao suddenly I have memories of his catwalk run for Infinity Challenge, with his questionable outfit. Good times.

Also, I'd politely beg to differ with the OP's comments. There have been a lot of questionable fashion choices from these two -especially last year- but for the most part GD has been on the right track. Considering that he and the rest of Big Bang also seem to be influential in creating style trends and that GD is such a lovechild of the fashion world, I'd say that it's justified in saying that they have influenced the fashion industry in Korea. Not the one in Paris, it goes without saying.

I'm pretty excited to see what they'll be wearing. I've been refreshing but nothing so far. Plane should have landed though?

I'd agree that he's influencing "regular" people's fashion, he's an idol after all he gets those sweet deal because his image sells but so far I haven't seen anything "Jiyong" in the fashion industry
I saw him wear Mugler, Saint Laurent... but I would't say that there's a a GD/Jiyong style
He's mostly following what's happening in the fashion world (sometimes for teh worst, sometimes for the best), he knows how to put a style together (sometiemes) but there's no anticipation in his style and he doesn't have a "signature look" either

So we can indeed agree to disagree, and that's all fine by me
We can still like each other and eat pizza and cookie




PS: if they left Korea on the 15th, they probably arrived yesterday (15th because time zone) or early this morning (we're the 16th 18:21 pm as of now)

IA with OP, esp YB. I get that high fashion means being eclectic but it really is amazing how the right styling makes these guys look a lot more handsome. I love them in suits.

GD isn't bad. Taeyang is the one who needs an intervention, IMO. Last year was too cringe worthy... He has said that he is trying to find his own style. Well, I hope that with the help of this trip he can do just that.
